Secular Songs 251 to 300

251 Should listen others

I won’t listen anything

And I won’t accept whoever tells it

Once someone come to this conclusion

There is no point of giving advice to them

Nobody can live on this earth

With clear understanding about oneself

And we don’t have enough opportunity

To understand about others too

Not understanding properly

And coming to a conclusion based on it

And then changing one’s stand accordingly

There is lot of struggle in such life

To uphold us when we stumble

And to point out our mistakes

If we don’t have proper friends

They will fall down quickly

Thiruvalluvar clearly told about this

And gave proper advice that:

“A guardless sovereign with none to caution

Even without foes will come to ruin”

How many get lost thinking that:

“I know everything”

Not joining with that crowd

We should listen to others

Mathirigi, 18-10-16, 11.10 pm.

Blessed is the person who not only realizes his limitation but willing to listen others advice when he cannot think and act properly.  Thankfully we don’t know everything and we cannot understand everything.  And to help us to understand those things which we cannot understand we need others counsel.  Blessed is the person who listen other’s counsel.

252. Not a burden

What is the point of becoming upset with me?

Not knowing heart

What kind of answer that I could give

As they don’t know anything about it

If I began to count all those become upset with me

Even numbers are not enough for that

And I don’t have the strength

To give answer to all

My parents and relatives became upset with me

And even my siblings also became upset

Even my friends and dear ones also become upset

Finally I too become upset with me

Joint with them all

Even God too become upset with me

And He alone even gave

The answer for that

“They unloaded their anger

With someone upon you

And bearing it like me

You too keep quiet” He said

I don’t have any other simple means

For me to follow, other than this.

As I am already bearing so many burdens

This one never became an extra burden

Mathigiri, 24-10-16, 5.45 pm.

If anyone becomes upset with me for any reason, I understand it and agree with them. But often fail to communicate my thought properly unable to understand my true intension, when they become upset with me, it never become an extra burden, as I faced so many people who became upset with me in the past, including God.  As He alone gave the formula to bear it, I follow it.

253. Non-existing authority

I don’t need any kind of authority

I don’t want to over lord on any one

I am ready to run away, if I am allowed to do so

And if not, then I am ready to serve

When did I get the authority which is not even exists

There is none who ever listened to me

When my situation become like that cat which drank the hot milk

What kind of questions is this that came now?

They ask account for something which is never given

Even if I give they refuse to accept it

They ask thousands of unnecessary questions

And if give answer, they say nothing is correct

I don’t know either to laugh or weep

I don’t know whether to accept it or reject

Tying both my hands at the back

They push me in the water and ask me to swim

Once we put our head in the pounding stone

There is no use of fearing about the poundings

Either rice or rice-flake, whichever might come out?

There is no way to escape till the end

My condition become like the left over husk

And it went to the dust bin without any use

But thinking that if is decomposed will become manure

I again fell back in the pounding stone happily

Mathiriri, 26-10-16, 2.30

Authority is never demanded but earned.  But in life some situation will come where we cannot even claim, even if earn it. Personally in my life I never demanded any authority as I never felt that I am qualified to earn it. But when I am questioned about the non-existent authority, it made me to laugh thinking about my own situation and this is the context of this song.

254 Question disappeared

As I become a question

Some confusion came in between

I don’t know to whom I shall ask

As all are like me alone

They told me to ask clearly

And they shared what they know

Once I understood what they shared

New questions began to arise

Then they said: “better stop asking questions

As you don’t know how to ask

There is no point of think about it

Because you won’t understand

Question alone is the answer for question

And those who give up asking questions are the wise ones

And those who received answers are the fools

And those keep quiet fortunately escaped.”

“First you understand this”, they said

As they really loved me.

Then I understood

After that all the questions disappeared.

Mathigiri, 27-10-16, 11.10

This is a repeated theme in my life. I wrote previously that ‘when question itself becomes the answer; answer becomes unnecessary one’. And also that, ‘one thing which we should not ask is: meaningless quesion and answer for that’ (from a filim ‘Thiruvilayadal,).  As the same process continued, I wrote the same kind of song one more time.  And the moral of the song is: so don’t write any more song like this.

255 I am retired

What a joy

What a joy

I am retired

And I will

Live as I like

I will sleep and awake (as I like)

And will remain as a lazy person

And wander as I like

And when I wish

Again I will go to bed

I won’t worry about

Accounts (and auditing)

And whatever is

Available on my hand

I will spend my life

With much joy

I will read and write

Whatever I like

At the same time

I won’t do it

For other’s sake

That time is gone

Where I walked extra mile

And rest of my life

Belongs to me

I too got life (as I am not yet dead)

To see this retirement

And I also have

Energy to see that

In one way

The old age too

Is very joyful

And when I think about it

I am rejoicing

If the body become weak

Let it be

But let my heart alone

Be remain youthful

All the time

There is none

A blessed

Person like me

And there is

Not point of envying

Me for this

Mathigiri, 28-10-16 7.45 pm.

Retirement is a joyful event in life, particularly for a person who was busy with so many activities in life.  Imagining such a life I wrote this song.

256 Should know one’s limitation

Each one should know her limitation

And do accordingly

If unnecessarily we carry any burden

Half way we will fall down

Once after knowing one’s own strength, support and opponent’s strength

Then we should engage with them

And if we unnecessarily interfere

Then we should pay for that

Somehow I have done the mistake

And unnecessarily involved

Now become like the monkey

Which put its hand and removed the wood in between the gap@

I am troubled like the monkey

Which put its hand inside the coconut (to collect it) @?

And if someone come to help me

Then I ran along with that coconut

Once it gives up the collected coconut in its hand

Then it can pull its hand outside

But it does not have that common sense

And I never learnt even after get burned

1-11-16, Mathigiri, 2.15 pm.

Our wisdom comes out of our experience and our experience comes out of mistake. But sometimes in life we are trapped in such a situation where we cannot escape from the burden which we are forced to carry.

@ Both the monkey story is Tamil proverb. In order to split a big log, they will make a small crack and insert a wood in it and continue to use the axe to cut it. And a monkey, after putting its hand on the crack removed the wood and its hand get trapped.  Similarly a monkey managed to open a coconut and put its hand inside and collected the coconut. But as the hole was small it cannot remove its hand with full of coconut. Then it ran everywhere carrying the coconut with it, at the same time unable to release its hand. It can do it easily, once it gave up the coconut from the hand to pull it out from the small hole. But as it doesn’t have that common sense, does not want to give up the coconut suffered till the end.

Though we have common sense, trapped by circumstance we end up in similar situation.

257 Along with age I should grow

We should have buddhi according to our age

And should grow in life accordingly

And if we behave childishly

Then we will get trouble

There is no point of growing in body alone

And what is the use of become grownup

We should develop our buddhi along with it

And should be expressed properly through our speech

Our life will become rotten

If we fail to control our tongue

And if pride join with it

And where is the solution for that?

It is not enough to read many things

Not thinking oneself a very learned one

One should have meekness along with it

And should know how to adjust in life

If we think that ‘my way is high way’

Anybody can travel in it

And if we too join them to go in it

We may end up facing danger

Not listening the elders

We should not behave as if super a intellect

We should listen a bit from others

And should act accordingly with proper thinking

Mathigiri, 2-11-16, 2.10 pm.

This is one constant problem that I am often facing in my life. This life as a single person gives immense freedom, particularly ‘not listening’ others and I often behave childishly. As I reflected upon my own nature I wrote this song addressing to me.

258 Don’t draw a circle

If you draw a round around you

And if you stand within it

With your own rules and regulation

Others cannot come and play with you

Nothing wrong in self retrospection

And it never remained a wrong notion

But if one shrinks within oneself

There is no place for others in it

Searching so many things outside

And doing many things unnecessarily

If we waste our time without any purpose

There is no time for personal analyse

Standing in between these two extremes

And keeping any eye on both sides

And judging one with the other

We should learn to live in this world

One will never win

When play all alone

And none won any race

By running all alone

Mathigiri, 7-11-16, 2.10 pm.

Writing in the context of Possession, Elisabeth Schombucher writes:

Despite its dramatic appearance, which at first sight is emotionally overwhelming to an outsider, possession states are verbally constructed events whose structures are well ordered and can be anticipated by the audience. Besides the two types of protagonists mentioned above, a third element is needed in possession, the audience.  Words spoken in a state of possession cannot be efficacious on their won. Despite (p.236) the ritual setting in which they are spoken and the communicative competence of the possessed person, they need an addressee who makes them efficacious. Speaking alone does not provide words with illocutionary power, but merely acts as a presupposition for listeners to do so.—“Possession” in Will Sweetman & Aditya Malik (eds.) Hinduism in India: Modern and Contemporary Movements, New Delhi, Sage, 2016l, pp. 236-37

This is equally true with other areas in life.  Being human means just: SOCIAL ANIMAL.

259 Our greatness

Doing what we could do

And sharing what we have

If we live with others

There will be meaning in our life

We have some speciality

And if we realize it, there is profit

From the rest of the creation

We have one thing different

To realize about the purpose of life

And to understand its secret

And to share our life with others

We know a means to do it

We have a heart

To live as we realized

And to rejoice with others

And to share what we have

If we understand this greatness

And live accordingly

And realize the true nature of the heart

There is meaning in our life

Mathigiri, 10-11-16, 2.40

The free will that we have, the choice that we can  make and the heart to understand all these is our greatness.  And if we live accordingly our life will become meaningful one.

260 struggles which I cannot understand

With whom I should struggle

And for what purpose I should do it

And not knowing

How to do it

And to found one answer

After struggling with me

Finally I

Found one answer:

Not knowing

Why this struggle

Not knowing

How to struggle

Arguing many things

For that unnecessary struggle

Unable to win in the end

And all become calm

Then discussing about it

And giving thousands of reason for that

Unable to come to any conclusion

By anyone

Nothing is learnt

From this

Except

Wasting our time unnecessarily

And as all realized this

At the end left

Then I understood this truth

All alone

Mathirigi, 10-11-16, 11.10 pm.

Translating this song in English is very difficult for me. The main theme is that we analyse the reason for the entire human struggle and unable to understand the reason and origin of it. Then we began to analyse why we cannot reach any conclusion. Then we realize that merely we wasted our time and energy in analysing and finding solution to the struggle which no one knows ‘why, when and what’ is the real struggle.  Finally as all left to mind their own business, at least I understood this truth that there is no point of analysing the origin of a struggle and try to find a solution to it.  Because even if we manage to trace the origin and found the solution, the life is going to move as usual with so many adjustments just for survival.

261 Free entertainment

‘Crack’ became my name

And scribbling become my job

My life become a waste

And it took many days to understand this

There is no point of pitying about it

And I need not worry too

As there are so many people

Also exist like me

Just some how to pass the time

Scribbling some thing

And confusing some others

Become my habit

As some laugh about it

And ridicule me

I never charge anything from them

And I never beg to sponsor me

Don’t find too many shortcomings (in this entertainment)

Which I provide free of cost

And never count the teeth of the cow

Which is given in charity@?

Mathigiri, 11-11-16, 6.30 am.

Whether others find any humour in my song or not, I laugh several times after I wrote this kind of poem. I like humour and it is part of my life. And I like to make joke about me and I enjoy it.

@ This is a Tamil proverb.  In Tamilnadu, in order to know the age of the cow (or any cattle) they use to count the teeth.  But one should not count the teeth of a cow which is given in charity.

262 should be introvert

I should keep quiet

And should remain within myself

Slowly I should draw back

Each of my thoughts within myself

Unnecessary thoughts will stop

If I give up vain talk

And if unnecessary thoughts stop

Unceasing imagination will dry up

With a small fire

We can create a big one

With unnecessary imagination

We can fly up to the sky

Even a small discussion

Will become a big argument

If we begin unnecessarily

An unending struggle will commence

Thought should be overcome by thought

And we should receive the training for it

If we say that it is not possible for us

Finally we have to face defeat

I like the formula that: a small thought leads to imagination, imagination to vision/dream; dream to desire; desire to action and action to consent and consent will end up in conviction—which will encourage implementing. One of the questions that Arjuna asked Sri Krishna was:

The mind verily is, O Krishna, restless, turbulent, strong and obstinate; therefore, I consider it as difficult to control as the wind—6:34

And Krishna’s response was:

Doubtless, O might armed the mind is restless and hard to control; but by practice and dispassion, O son of Kunti, it can be controlled.—6:35

263 It is better not clear

How many questions arises within me

When I think about myself

When I think about me

I laugh at myself

How many chanchals in heart

In this life which is not clear

Each day I put one mask

And remove it within few minutes

I am get agitated

And give many reasons for that

The advice which I gave for others

Won’t be useful to me, I say this.

When someone try to help me

I run away from them and hide

Then I lament that

None came to help me

My way become high way for me

And this become my condition

And I will gradually understand (about myself)

Is my answer for this too?

I don’t find any use

Living with clear understanding

I found it good that

It is better not to understand (about me)

in the Train (from Hyderabad to Bangalore), 14-11-16, 7.30 am.

As I got a comfortable side birth on way back from Hyderabad to Bangalore, I was enjoying my time reading my book. But suddenly I began to reflect about my talk, and discussion that I had with the youths at Hyderabad and began to compare and analyse my life based on those advices which I gave to them.  Then I began to laugh at myself saying, ‘what is the use of giving so many advises to those youths where you cannot implement even one sincerely in your life’. Then I wrote this song at the back side of the book which I was reading.

You should think about the purpose of your coming

And you should understand about your life

You should know to live together

How many you know among

Those who lived before you

Many thousands of generation lived before you

And they too disappeared

They don’t have time to think

About next generation

And you don’t have concern

As I got the window seat in the bus, I was just watching the people who are busy with so many activities in life.  In travel I observe people more and think about life. As various thoughts came in my mind, combining them all together I scribbled this poem in the bus itself while I was travelling from Bangalore to Hosur.

265 Good and bad

Termites are making their nest

And the snake come and dwell in it

What can we say?

About this nature’s course

One person toils a lot

And another sit and enjoy the life

And he says that

There is no alternate to this human ordinance

Some try to live

Claiming honesty and integrity

And others are making fun of them

And call them hopeless ones

Accept such contradictions

As part of life

And try to live

With them in this world

There is no life

Without the mix of good and bad

And there is no means for us to escape

Other than to live with them

But as the inspiration continued, I recorded this song in my mobile and then recorded it in the computer.

266 The dog which chased the car

There is none like me

Who is very fortunate?

There is no point in

You regretting about it

I have analysed completely

And know that

By knowing the depth alone

We should step in (side the water)

There is no use in

We too do the same

Like the dog

Which chases the car?

Will he stop the car?

And stone the dog

Or will he drive his car

Minding his own business

In order to choose

We should search many paths

But to get clarity

We should follow one path clearly

There is no point

In searching superficially

And there is no use in

Often changing the path

Knowing this clearly

I run so far

And finally

I choose one path clearly

Noting my example

You should know this

And should try to

Live like this

Mathirigi, 17-11-16, 11.10 pm.

Recently I was involved in a dialogue with a young person who always asks very sharp and profound questions.  Such questions actually help me to reflect my own life and assess it properly. In one of his questions he said that like a stray dog which chases every car, he is doing the same.

When I read it I began to laugh as that too was my own experience in my youth hood. That time, in our street the two dogs which chase every car that passes them began to bark and chase another car.  Then using his words and relating it with the incident which happens every night in our street I wrote this song. The following is the question and answer:

Question: I am in a pursuit of enlightenment.  So far I have been a stray dog chasing after every car on the road that claims enlightenment. I believe in the fact that one has to look at all roads when he doesn’t know which road takes him to his destination. So I am very receptive to the words you say.

DB: Regarding ‘one has to look at all roads when he doesn’t know which road takes him to his destination’, I completely agree with you.  But some people till the end of their life continue to chase all the cars which not even claiming any enlightenment but promise to provide some ‘instant bliss’ for a cost.  So after some initial persuasion, when any one path gives some hope or which best suits our aptitude, then we should give some time to further travel in it, than chasing every car—as the dogs return back to their place after chasing few distance and get ready to chase another car.  After some time they become tired and go to sleep as many dog in our street do the same every night.

The moral of this story is: search some path. Then when you are convinced that, that will best serve your purpose, give some time to further to probe it deeply than superficially attempting to know something from everything. Particularly in spirituality, ‘Sridhar’ faith/trust is the first step that will help any dashiki (one who searches) than continue to probe till the end of the life.  Otherwise we will become ‘jack of all trades.’

267 I become a lesson to others

There should be clarity

In mind each day

And I should be mended

In life too

If I constantly
change my decision each day

Finally I have to

Face the trouble

Once I have

Clarity about my aim

It will come

Quickly also in my mind

If I constantly

Change my aim

Confusion will come

Automatically in my mind

Though I often faced trouble

I never repented

And I never felt sorry

For that even a bit within me

I never counted

All my losses

I don’t found

Any means to get changed

But there is some

Good in this

And my life became

A lesson for many

And I comforted myself

Thinking it

Therefore I continue to live

As ever before.

Mathigiri, 19-11-16, 11.10

One constant problem that I am facing in my life is the way I quickly change my decision and paying heavly for that.  Though I tried my best, I cannot overcome this so far.  But I console myself that at

least others can learn from my life and continue to live with the same defect.

269. Unchanging change

When something happens which we don’t like

We have to accept it silently

If we oppose it adamantly

A time will come when we have to step back

If there is no opposite opinion

Nobody’s view will become useful

And those who share the opposite views

Are not our enemies and we should realize this

There will come a time

When none will accept our view

And what we will do that time, realizing it

We should listen to others view now

What we hold today as our principle is not eternal

And it might get changed tomorrow

So let us not hold any principle as permanent

Based on which never remains permanent

What we desire is not permanent

And which we don’t like may get changed

In the uncertain life which alone is certain

“Change” is the only unchanging concept

Mathgiri, 22-11-16, 2.10

We all know the famous saying that “change is the only permanet thing”, I wrote this song reflecting on the recent developments that is happening in our circle.

270 Don’t corss your line

He found some peace in it

And found some comfort for him in it

Others have no right to

Mock it by any means

His life get crippled

And the occasion for joy becomes limited

Yet the way he learnt the art of living

In it becomes his talent

He drew a circle around him

And narrowed down his boundaries

And found so many meaning in it

And rejoice living in it

Not accepting this and

Thinking that you are going to help him

Spoiling the peace of both is

Unacceptable by any reason

Each one has the right to

The principle of his own life

And it is better accepting it

And live each one’s life as it is

Mathigiri, 22-11-16, 11.10 pm.

This is my constant theme about which I often contemplate: “No one lived above her own creed”.  And some change that creed (principle) for so many reason and narrow down their life by drawing circles around them and boundaries for others not to corss.  Those who are close to her and also the near and dear ones, should not interfere in her life thinking that they want to help her to comeout from that narrow circle by crossing that line. If she manages to find peace and joy within her changed creed, then others have to leave it as it is and learnt to live each one’s life accepting each other as they are. Otherwise both will lose their peace of mind.

The world is so big to seek others to serve and let others to serve one celebrating relationship. Or one can narrow down her life within a limited circle and enjoy it. It is left to each individual to decide and we all have to respect that personal freedom—even to celebrate relatioship in this way too.

271 leasurely toil

There is no liberation for the mind

And there is no holiday for toil

And there is no rest for our thinking

Why it should get changed for humans too?

We worn out by toiling too much

Unable to understand what does it means resting

Though all that we claiming taking rest

Also becomes another kind of toil

Somehow as we came to this earth

What is the use of lamenting anything?

There is no alternative till the end

Other than toiling continuously

We came to this world to toil

We also grew because of other’s toil

It is sheer foolishness to say to give up one

Which won’t go away from us till the end?

We can find peace in it only when we

Consider toiling also a kind of leisure

And considering it as the only qualification

And get comfort in toiling

Mathigiri, 23-11-16, 11.10 pm.

When I visited one of my best friends’ home at Chennai long back, they all went to Mahabalipuram for a picnic leaving me alone in their house to enjoy my own time.  When they returned after three days I saw all of them tired and exhausted. Particular the father of the children completely worn out, as he unloaded heavy suitcases with lots of sea shells. Just to tease him, I said, ‘so you had a wonderful time returning back completely exhausted.’  He, taking a deep sigh said, ‘“yes”’. What to do?  Children collected so many shells from the sea shore.  We know they are not useful, but they insisted carrying them back at home.’  So they returned back with heavier luggage than what they took with them.  Comparing them, I enjoyed my time without anyone around me, not even allowing the cook or servant maid to come when I stay alone and I really relaxed than the picnic they had.  Of course I am not against such picnics, as long as others enjoy it.  But the concept of ‘rest’ and ‘relaxation’ is still remaining evasive to me.  Till the end of our life we have continue to toil and there won’t be any real relaxation in our life. The only way to relax is to enjoy even that toiling than try to run away from it and ending up with more tiring leisurely activities.  Well several times I think out of box.

Should think and accept it

Mathirigi, 1-12-16, 2.45 pm.

I always divide my day in short periods and live accordingly.  Even certain works I will do in small parts. Some times when I make some special sweet each day I will do one process and finally complete it when I need to serve.  For example, for meeting I will fry all the ingridients to make ‘payasam’ (keer) and keep it in fridge and on the day when I require it, I will just add water, milk, sugar etc. and boil to make ‘payasam’.  Some of the pickles which I make will take more than three to fourth month to get ready for use.  This helps me to live always in the present, planning for the future but not allowing it to put too much pressure on today’s work.

A rest to the fight

You born to fight

You lived fighting

You had a life

Full of struggles

You fought many fights

For the rights of the Sri Lankan Tamilians

You fought a fight

To redeem our dear Kaveri

You also fought

To get back our right on Mullaipperiyar

And you fought

Against methane gas

Single handily

You faced so many fights

You won many fights

Unable to defeat you

But you got a fight

With your own body

And you have done

Everything to win it too

But giving right to the

Nature to have its own course

Thinking that ‘no more fight’

Did you accept defeat in this alone?

Thinking that it is enough

Did you decide to go away?

And finally you gave

Rest to the fight itself?

274 Sit silently

All the egoism have disappeared

And unnecessary anger subsided

Time has come to become like a dog

Which keeps its tail in between its legs?

Opposing everything all the time

And throwing away people mocking at them

And bragging too much

Came to an end now

Standing first for all kinds of confrontation

And dragging others also to fight

And paying the price to get disputes

All have come to an end now

Now nobody knows where I am even surviving

And there is none to enquire about me

And there is no shortage for the words of rebuke:

“Keep quiet eating what is provided to you”.

Once you become old, you should shut up your mouth

And should reduced all your talk

And should shut your eyes with a thought

Let anything happen—what does it matter to me

There is no substitute for this law

And there is no means to escape from this

And this is common for all

And realizing this site silently

275 Going rond and round

I went to several places

And saw

And I asked advice

To many people, but

Wherever I go

My shadow will follow me

And I realized this

Out of personal experience

Each one has her

Life to live

And there will be

Small small changes in it

Yet like the bull

Used in oil presser

There is no alternative

Except go round and round

The way others are toiling

Seeking some changes

And after seeing

All the trouble they incur

If I too join them

To get the same

What is the use?

Finally in it

I should seek the

Joy of remaining in silence

And I should stop

Carrying this burden

I should know to abide

In the place where I have to stay

And I should

Keep quiet not talking much

Salem, 18-12-2016, 9.45 am.

After a gap of several years I went to Salem to meet Prasad’s parents and his other family members.  But all I had the same kind of rhetorical talk which I had with them in the past. Though time went, yet the issues remain the same—with new twists and more complication. And if I am get entangled in it to get the same kind of life, there is no use in it. And this song reflects the mood of that thought in that day.

276 Questions without answer

Others can easily

Question to anyone

Because they

Don’t need any answer

And we need not

Respond to them

As they don’t know

Why they are asking it

Those who upholds

Only their own views

Other’s explanations

Are not acceptable

Once their ego

Over lord them

They cannot understand

Others position

Should we treat this?

Ignorance

Or should we take the whip

To correct them

Thinking that

Both is not required

Should we keep?

Some distance away from them

I don’t have any

Final response with me

Because I don’t have

Any answer for this

Though I try to advise them

They never repent

And they never yielded

Even to my whipping

Though I want to keep away

They don’t allow me to do that

And what should I do now

I don’t understand

If possible

Give some answer to this

And show some kind of

Mercy towards me

Gurukulam, 27-12-16, 3.10 pm.

When someone accepts moral responsibility then it comes with some authority with it. For example, when a father accepts his moral responsibility as a father to take care of his children, automatically he gets some kind of authority to discipline his children when it required. But if his authority alone is questioned never recognizing the moral responsibility which he took, then no home can survive for long. This is true in every area of life.  Of course absolute power and authority are dangerous. But not recognizing the authority which comes along with any moral responsibility no human institution can function properly.  And when others only question the authority then in such scenario I don’t have answer to them or don’t know how to tackle such situation.

277 We should complete our role

In this stage of the drama

Which has not yet written completely?

When each one gets her role

She should complete her acting

However others character are better

They are not for us

And if we think only about it

We cannot act our role properly

When our times come

Uttering our dialogue

We should try to act our best

And we should only think about this

Though we like others role

The director won’t assign it to us

If we demand it with much adamantly

He might even remove from our role

Whichever might be our role?

Clearly understanding it

If we act properly

We will get our prize

Realizing this

And knowing your limitation

And using the given opportunity

Try to get success in life

Gurukulam, 30-12-16, 6.45 am.

The neighbour’s garden always looks green and beautiful; however we have a better garden of our own. But in life there is no point in comparison with other’s role in our lives.  If we think about other’s role we cannot do our part properly. And the only secret for success is to do our part properly—however it looks small in our view.

278 Joyful trouble

As long as there is a nose

Getting cold (running nose) cannot be stopped

As long as we have tongue

There is no holiday for talking

As long as we have a heart

Struggle won’t come to an end

As long as we live together

There will be always friction in life

When troubles are coming

Analyse them properly

And once you found the answer for them

Then began to enjoy even those troubles

How many answers you might get

All won’t fit neatly as the best solution

Even those solutions which are very suitable

We cannot implement them all completely

Once you began to enjoy the troubles themselves

Then you can give trouble to the troubles

Then waiting for more trouble

We can live happily

1-1-17, in the train between Hilelage to Hosur, 5.10 pm.

There is a Tamil proverb: as long there is nose we cannot escape from getting cold. This is true also in every human relationship.  And my favourite solution is: When troubles are inevitable, then began to enjoy. Though they will initially bother, once we began to enjoy them, instead of becoming burden they will become a time of joyful moments in life.  When in relationship others began to give trouble the best way to handle is to convey the message to them that you are even enjoying their pestering. Once they realize that their pestering instead of bothering you become opportunity to enjoy, they may even stop that.  One time when I was living in North India, one person often came to see me to kill his time by talking all kinds of politics.  After few days, when he came I used to say, ‘just you came in right time.  Give me a hand in cleaning these books’.  This I repeated every alternative day to extract some work from him. Then he realized that instead of killing his time, he has to work more with me.  Then he stopped even coming.

So analyse the problem; found the solution and began to enjoy the problem.

279 No use

We can understand the value

When we get it after losing

She alone can understand its value

Who never had it before?

The hungry one will

Understand the value of food

And the one who lost

Will understand its value after losing it

In close living

We cannot understand the nobleness of relationship

And if we live alone

We cannot understand even about relationship

Small separation will

Help to understand the relationship

And when come together

Loneliness will disappear

Joining and separation

Cannot be avoided

All that is collected

Won’t remain together for ever

There is no restriction

For reunion

Yet separation

Cannot be avoided

But who will decide

About this

There is no

Answer to this question

Whatever might be the

Human endeavour

This cannot be accomplished

Only by human efforts

Can we say that?

This is the law of nature

Or God has ordained

This for us?

Or whatever might it be

Accepting whichever comes

Living accordingly is the

Only option left with us?

What kind of answer

Could be given to this question

And what is the use of

Arguing any more about it

When we cannot

Understand others mind

What is the use of?

Searching for an answer

2-1-17, Mathgiri, 11.10 pm.

When we lose something or miss something then we realize the value of it. This is true both with material things and human relationship. But does getting united and then get separated depends upon human effort or natural course or ordained by God?  For me there is no point in analysing this as we cannot give one time uniform solution as we don’t understand others mind and situation which help or force us to get united or separated. So best solution, live in the present reality and accept it as it is.

280 A race

In the race of life

When we all run very fast

We don’t know who run along with us

And we don’t have time to look unto them

Nobody is chasing us

And we never run to escape

Even we don’t know

What our goal actually is

As others run, we too run with them

And when few left behind

And few more new people join us

We run competing with each other

When our race become slow

And as we stop to take breathe

Others who ran with us

Never turned back to know what happen to us

This race will continue

Without anybody reaching the actual goal

Yet this race alone will continue

Never finding its end

Someone somewhere began this

But we don’t know who it was

And who will finally end it

We least bother about it

Many will be with us when we run

But when we stop who will stop with us

Whether we run or stop

Nobody will notice it

Though you run along with the crowd

Yet you run all alone

Once you stand back alone

Then you realize it

Run when you need to run

And when you become tired you stop

Once your part is completed

Then forget both of them (running and stopping)

Mathigiri, 12-1-2017, 2.40 pm

Another song reflecting the reality of life. Though we are social animals, yet in life in several areas till the end we have to run alone our own race.

281 I held tiger’s tail

There is no relationship without constraints

And there is no life without frictions

We cannot live together without some tension

And there is no life on earth without some kind of separation (crack)

“Give it up and adjust”, many advised me

And “stop unnecessary arguments” they said

And they also said that “my way is High way

Is always dangerous”.

Finally I accepted them all

And standby by giving up

Yet the frictions never came to an end

And friction, tensions and separation never stopped

Now my life becomes like that person

Who caught the tiger’s tail (to escape?)

If he gives it up, then the tiger will attack

And if he continues to hold it, then he will get pain

Until both the tiger and I become tired

There is no solution to this but to go round and round

There is no deliverance for both of us in this game

And there is no use further to share about it.

Mathigiri, 13-1-2017, 11.30 pm.

Another reflection about the friction in Interpersonal relationship.  Though I accept all the complications about human relationship, sometimes, no solution works out as I imagine. Then the best solution is allow time to deal it and settle down certain issues on its own.  As we often hear about the famous statements by politicians in India: Let the law take its natural course, sever times, time takes its own natural course and settles down certain issues.  Certain problems in life are like catching the tiger’s tail.  Neither we can hold it for long time nor can we give it up.  And the best solution is whoever becomes tired fist will allow the other to win the game.  If the person who holds the tail becomes tired and give it up the tiger gets its meal.  If the tiger becomes tired and faints then that person might have another lease of life.

282 Coccon worm

In this broad and wide world

Where so many kinds of people are living

We  have many oppertuntiy to serve

Among the people who have plenty of needs

If we draw a circle and lines

And stand within a narrow space

And always think only about ourselves

There is danger in such life

Real contentment is in such a life

Where we share what we have.

There is meaning for your life

Only when you do good to others

We never live not understanding this

And this truth is not even new

Yet to implement that

We never have enthusiasm much

Stretching the circle a bit

And giving space for others also in it

If we expand our boundaries

We can understand this again

The worm in the coccon

Only by breaking it and come out of it

Will get a new lease of life

And live multiplying itself.

Mathigiri, 14-1-17, 6.45 am.

When our principle or materials things become an end in themselves by creating a barrier for others to use or participate we automatically create ‘the other’ and tell them that we have no time for them.  Those who remain within close circle serving among themselves again and again, soon will face lots of problem as their own closeness will create internal tension and division.  To define and understand about our principle we need some Fundamental principle.  But we should be flexible in pheripheral and show charity in all other areas.  In the name of defending our Fundamentals if we refuse to be flexible in pheripheral, then naturally we will draw a circle around us and close the door for othes, missing every opportunity to show and experience charity in life.

283 Keep my mouth shut

No need for argument

And no need for counter argument

Keeping the mouth shut

Is the wise thing

No need for principles

And no need for confusion

It is enough to remain

Faithfull in small things

No need to

proclaim to the world

it is enough if we

realize the truth within us

Yet no need

to be selfish

if we think other’s

welfare also (along with ours)

For this

We need to do one thing

Before we think

About other’s welfare

We should remove

Our own selfishness

And we should have

Clarity in our mind

If we have clarity

Arguments will disappear

Once selfishness is gone

Counter argument too will be gone.

Mathigiri, 18-1-17, 1.50 pm.

Debate and discussions are inevitable where ideas are discussed.  But when clarity of thought and deep conviction prevails we can avoid unnecessary arguments and counter arguments, as they never are going to help us to reach a meaningful conclusion.  I have seen several times in my life that when healthy debate and discussion happen there is place for dialogue but when they lead to unnecessary argument and counter argument, we will grinder the same dough again and again without an end.  So most of the time I would like to avoid argument though I am happy to engage in healthy dialogue based on debate and discussion where reason will finally prevail.

284 Untitled story

As my life remains

An unwritten story

What kind of title

Can I give it?

As I remain

Meaningless poem

How can I compose?

Music to it!

As my speech

Remains unclear

How can I write?

Any commentary to it!

When I walk

Where there is no path

How is it possible

For me to complete my journey!

As there are

Similar questions here

Where can I go for the answer?

Which is not even there?

Finally when the

Words are confused

Not knowing

How to complete this poem

I alone live

Enjoying everyday life

Silently laughing

Within me

Mathigiri, 19-1-17. 11.35 p.m.

As I went for my night walk, the first line automatically came in my mind.  First I wanted to ignore even that inspiration. But as further words began to flow in my mind, I wrote this song within 3 minutes. But as I wanted to end this song with some humour, I bit reflected how to complete it with such spirit. And when the thoughts again came, I wrote the final stanza and began to laugh within me for long time and retired to bed by 12.30 with still smile on my lips.

285A shortcoming with short coming

Thousands of fault one would find

thinking that they are without fault

unable to see good in anything

they search only bad things just for evil sake

God kept flower only amidst thorn

and kept water inside the rock

and in those whom we consider as fools

He kept so many beautiful thoughts like pearls

we should not mock anyone

thinking that they are ignorant

but they will be nobler than

those whom we consider as great

In order to see the good in others

the nature of fault finding should go

once we began to see only good in them

this fault finding nature will go away from us

There is none on this earth

who lived without any shortcomings

once we began to see all the defects as fault

then there is none as a perfect being

Mathigiri, 20-1-17, 2.10 pm.

The only way to get rid of fault finding nature with us is to see good in others.

286Should live naturally

where we can find words

to tell those

who do not

understand even this

what is the use

of advising those

who do not know

how to live normally

we can advise those

who do not understand

and we can rebuke those

who refuse to understand

what can we do

to those who refuse to accept both means

and how can we help them

to understand their condition

In order to show

that they are different kind of species

if they began to live

in abnormal way

Once they began to live

in such life for long

then it is difficult for them

to return back to normal life again

24-1-17, On the way to Thally in the bus2.30 pm

Several people, including me try to live to show that they are different from others.  Then it is difficult to advice them or rebuke them, as their abnormal way (of life) become a normal thing for them.  We have leave them ‘let go’.

287Got back my breath

The load has come down

And the weight has bit reduced

Carrying unnecessarily

The shoulders also become very weak

Voluntarily going

I carried the burden unnecessarily

Even though I realized it

Yet I get trapped knowingly

When I come forward

Many standing around me

Praise me a lot

By up roaring

Thinking that

Till I reach the destiny

Thinking that

I will receive encouragement

As I carry and began to walk

And turned back to look

One by one

The crowd also disappeared

When I began to think that

For whom I am carrying this

It is for none

As this wisdom came

As my hands become weak

The grip also gets lost

And burden also fell (automatically)

And I got back my breath

Not get trapped

Again in the crowd which went away

As I began to way in my own path

I regained my old strength back

Mathigiri, 27-1-17, (28-1-17), 12.45

This is my constant struggle in my life. I will volunteer unnecessarily where even the angels fear to tread.  Neither will I think about my own limitation or the purpose in it. Though there will be many to encourage and cheer me, soon one by one will disappear. At the end when I look back I will see that many might have gone and I also carried it not serving anybody’s purpose.  As I was reflecting several such incidents in my life I wrote this song with a spirit of humor.

288Become habitual

In one way the strife of the body

Will soon disappear

But the strife of the mind

Will prolong for long time

The physical ailments

In one way is part of the natural process

But the ailments of the mind

Are sought by us alone

By various treatments

We can cure the physical ailments

But there is no cure for

The strife of the mind

However we suffer

Because of them both (body and mind)

Once they become habitual

Never remain as burden

Even if they remain burden

There is no use of fearing about them

Unless those who learnt to swim against

None has won them

Mathigiri, 29-1-17, 11.10 p.m.

We all know the famous story that when a man approached the astrologer, he said that for the next more than eighteen years that person will suffer.  When that person asked, ‘then what will happen’, the astrologer replied, ‘it will become habitual and you won’t feel its burden’.

This is the reality of everyone’s life

289My way

What I am sharing is not lie

And they are not my own imagination

They never came because of my emotion

And they are nothing but truth

Other’s experience is not wrong

Others need not understand it

Unlike the needs of the body

The need of heart/mind is not common (for everyone)

I have my own mind

It knows what my requirement is

It has intellect to think accordingly

And I know to live accordingly

When others try to understand it

Many questions will come

As each one stands on their own stand

They will expect answer accordingly

There alone argument begins

Thousands of responses will come

But my mind will refuse to

Accept them all

Only if I go according my own mind

I can understand what is right or wrong

Once I understand the condition

Then clarity will come in life

When I try to communicate it through words

It will reflect my own experience

Whatever might other’s comment about it

I will live in my own way silently

Mathigiri, 1-2-17, 11.30 pm

Those who never live with personal conviction and clear understanding about their own principle will be easily tossed by all kinds of opinion. Neither they can not please all nor can live peacefully. Already in one of the previous songs I told the story about the ‘Old man and the donkey’.  Though I need to consult others and listen to their advice, instead of changing my conviction and principle according to every opinion, I have to analyze my situation, found my answer and continue to live in it.

290 Free advices

Easily anyone can say anything

Because there is no loss for them

They can give lots of advice

Because there is no shortage of words

They will say while passing

And will be gone on their way

Only we who listen to it alone know

And we know the gain and profit in it

There is no shortage of such people

We need not search for them in other places

They will be very near to us

They will talk without thinking

We alone should remain careful

We should close our ears also

We should remain indifferent

And we should keep quiet

We too should not talk like them

But we should see both positive and negative in it

Only when others sought our counsel

Then we should share what is necessary

Still there is some profit in it

There is some meaning in what they say

Only taking it seriously

There is use in living in that way

Mathigiri, 6-2-17, 11.30 p.m.

I never like to do the counseling, though I am not against it. In fact in counseling though the solutions that prescribed might not worked properly for the person seeking it, at least it will help her to unload some of her problem as there is someone to listen to them.  However my personal conviction is that unless particularly sought from us, it is better not interfere and began to give ‘free counsel’ in the name of giving some solution to other’s problem.  Even when it is sought, I generally used to avoid giving any counsel, particularly to the family people.  But there are many in our lives who will just pass some comments or give some advice without understanding the real issue.  However, we have to ignore them, yet there will some good point in their comments which we need to be noticed and try to analyze and implement them, if needed.  Otherwise it is better to ignore these kinds of free lance advices.

291 Travel

Many are the travels in this world

Many will travel (with us) in (our) life

“Till the end, who will come with us?”

Is the real question indeed.

This began even before our birth

It will continue even after we have gone

But who joined and left (us)

We don’t know

As parents first joined

And the siblings were added more

Along with relatives and neighbors

A kind of journey continues

Known and unknown also come and join

Along with them friends also are accompanying

Strangers also be there with us

Another kind of journey grows

Though all these come with us

What is a true journey?

Till the end we don’t know

Because nobody understands it

But if you understand the journey, it won’t be pleasant

There is no answer to the riddle

There is no use in asking

Many many questions in travel

We don’t know for sure

What is waiting at the turn?

We don’t know

When unexpected accidents will come

There is no other choice

But to accept if it comes

But the journey will

Never come to an end with that

When we go as much as we can

We will get new experiences

Only when we are ready to accept them

Then the journey will remain pleasant

8-2-2017 in the train, (on the way to Kolkata) 7.30 am

As I was thinking about various travels that I undertook I was reflecting upon the travel itself.  Then as inspiration came I wrote this song in my train journey to Kolkata.

292 your condition is pitiable

He has many pressures

Why do you worry about it?

In what way you are less than him

As you too run each minutes

There is no point in pitying him

And you don’t need to understand it

Even if he comes to get advice

You have no time for that

Once in a while you lift up your head

To look others

All other times

You remain buried within you

None came to help you

To lift you up

In this condition, even if you think

There is no chance for you to help others

I shared what I know

And I too further have no more time

If someone come forward to help you

Without forgetting I will send them to you

When I will come back,

If you were still alive

Definitely I will reach you

And pull you up

Till that time

You too struggle (on your own)

When you are in a pitiable condition

Why try to give advice to others

Dayanand Bharati,  kolkota,  1 2.2.2017,  7.15 am

As I was doing my morning exercise, I heard the sound in the kitchen. Then I thought that to save time, I will go and ask for the tae.  While my host will be preparing it I will complete the final three exercises and will have my tae and then go for my walk.  Then I said to myself, why such a hurry and why not do things leisurely.  So I completed my exercises and asked for the tae.  Meanwhile not to waste even few minutes, till the tae came I began to do other small things.

After having my tae I came down for my walk. As it is a big apartment, there is a path for walk. Then one young man was rushing to hi vehicle with hi office bag. That time the priest came to perform the morning puja in the small temple. As he was about to perform the aarati, the young man stopped to remove his shoes, then he saw his watch and without removing the shoes he folded his hands and uttered few words and rushed to his vehicle. As I observed all this with a smile said the first two lines of this songs.

Immediately I reflected back what I have done few minutes before to save my time.  Then as the inspiration continue to flow immediately I wrote this song within five minutes and recoded in my mobile and RUSHED TO FINISH MY MORNING WALK AS I HAVE TO LEAVE BY 8.30

293 use words with measure

This is the reality on this earth

This we should realize in life

There is no use

In using excessive words

We should talk knowing what we talk

Not scattering words unnecessarily

We should contemplate

How far is it true—what we talked

We can talk many things

Just for the sake of fun

Understanding it (viz. it is just for the sake of fun)

We can forget it next second

But if it becomes habitual

Then it will be dangerous

What we talked just for the sake of fun

Might even turn again us

Nothing wrong in rejoicing

By talking jovially

But it is not good

Only to talk just for fun

We should live knowing the truth that

Even words have their own strength

So we should talk

Knowing the time, place and purpose

Meraganon, (near Nainital), 7-3-2017, 5.30 am.

One American girl in our talk with a group of them at Delhi on 5th March, 2017, asked a question that how to respond to her Indian friend who told her clearly that she believes in herself and does not want to believe in the gospel. Then the American girl said: I really love my friend and want her to know about the Lord.  But how to convince her, as she does not want to listen to her”?

In my response I said that the Lord himself said that only a sick person needs the doctor and not the healthy one.  So instead of wasting your time you have to move ahead.

Then that American girl said that she really loves her friend deeply and wants to see that she should accept the Lord.
This bit irritated me, but not showing it, I asked, “are you really love that your friend.  Suppose due to some reason if have to go back to your country and never could come back, then what will happen to your deep love for your Indian friend.  Will you keep in touch with her throughout your life?

When I was later reflecting about it, I realized how much we all use several words without taking them seriously.  That Indian girl to that American is just a contact or acquaintance and even a ‘target’ for her agenda not true friend with any deep lifelong commitment.  And soon both will forget each other.  The American girl might have sympathy and desire to share the gospel. If her Indian friend doesn’t respond, then she should move ahead without having any guilty conscience.

Similarly another American boy asked me later when he was taking me to the railway station that what is the right time to talk about deeper things with his Indian friends after having initial talks. In my response I said according to my understanding Muktiveda never put life in different compartments taking one thing as shallow and another one deeply.  Every aspect of human life is deeper things for god.  Eating proper food in time, taking proper rest etc., are deeper things for me.
Another young India girl after the satsang asked (on 4.3.17) “when we pray to God we only ask for material things like wealth, health, name and fame and how to overcome it?”

In my response I said that that is where the muktivedic value differs completely as it never considers or treats material needs as wrong or illusion.  It takes material things seriously and points out that it is a blessing from God.  It encourages us to enjoy it properly, but with a strong reminder that we are mere stewards and not owners to abuse or misuse it.@

In another time in another place when one non-Indian told that he has a ‘Raki sister’ who tied raki on raksha bandan day and they even put his name in the wedding card of her marriage.  Then I asked him then can he actually commit life long as a brother commits in India for her sister and her children?

This is true even in India.  But this is part of our culture and worldview.  We never call our neighbors by their name but even call unknown person as ‘brother, sister, uncle, aunty’ in the respective local language (like didi, chacha, bhaya in Hindi, akka, annan, maama, periyappu, cittappu, perisu, podiyan etc. in Tamil).  At the same time in several families they will call close and blood relatives only by name and not using that particular relationship not even using honoric words adding ‘ji’ at the end as they do in North or plural form of verb (like neengal, vaanga, ponga etc. in Tamil but only using ‘nee, vaa, po’ etc.).  Rarely another person can become a bosom friend or part of another family.  Not realizing this just thinking or calling others as real friend, brother and sister and approaching life won’t work in real life.

So when I recalled all these talking, I realized that we all including me several times use several words without taking them seriously.  As I was reflecting it I wrote this song

@…there is no “spiritual gospel” that can be endorsed in isolation from the reality of the physical world that God created, called “good” and into which he placed human beings.  This combination of the spiritual and the physical and its relationship to God is at the heart of the teachings of Jesus.  For example, the Lord’s Prayer includes a request for the gift of bread. {The Parable of the Rich Fool. Lk. 12: 13-21}— Kenneth E. Bailey, Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels, Illinois, IVP Academic, 2008, p. 298

294 Return of the spring

This is the time to come together again

And it is the time to recall about the past

As the old memories come as wave

It is time to recall those days

In our school days

We roamed like free birds

When time had come to get separated

We went way without any trouble in our conscience

In this wide world

We went away in different directions

Without having time to think about others

Life is also gone in many ways

When the time of retirement came

And when we sat leisurely

To recall our past memories

We began to think about that relationship (friendship) which we have lost

Though we gain so many things in full

We have lost some thing

And when we searched back what we have lost

Then we recognized what it is

We lived so far not even knowing that

Those friends with whom we enjoyed company

In our school days

We lived somehow so far

When we got few among them back

The spring time has come back again

And to celebrate it again

We now join together in this old age

Mohanpura (Rajasthan), 26-3-2017, 10.10 pm.

One of my school time friends again began to contact me since last year. He also came to visit me in the ashram.  He often calls and talks. When I was in Rajasthan he called and told about other class mates (or school mates who studied in different section).  After he talked, as I was sitting on the roof of Yogi’s house in a small and calm village surrounded by hills and enjoying the cool breeze and calm atmosphere, my mind went back to my school days and I began to recall so many events of that time.  But what one think that struck me was that when we all completed our school we all get separated least thinking that we may not even see each other in our lives.  In this old age, getting separated from a close friend is unthinkable and it will affect our life very much. But in those early days of schooling we always look forward to launch to unknown world of college and jobs and life, we never took it seriously when we get separated. As I was reflecting about it.

295Struggles

Struggle with whom?

And struggle for what?

And how to struggle?

Why should even struggle?

Though many such questions

Are here in life

Till the end

Struggle won’t end!

Did we born

To struggle in this body?

Do we have a mind/heart?

To struggle with others?

Are we living in order?

To struggle in it?

Finally no one actually

Getting that victory!

Once life is gone

After all kinds of struggle

When we are waiting

Eagerly for the death

Once that too becomes

A struggle

Will we give up that longing?

As we don’t have any more strength?

Either we came to struggle

Or live with all kinds of struggles

In order to make the

Life as a garden

Not merely wasting the life

Only in such struggles

We need to think the

Garden sometimes in our mind

Mathigiri, 12-4-17,10.30 pm.

As I am down with back pain and cough and cold, unable to do much work, I was simply laying down on my cot—even unable to sleep. Though Vijay helps his best, as he too has to go to work and have his own personal life, sometimes I found mere survival as a struggle, as I have to take care of my mother and other routine works—just to survive.  That time I seriously said that now I have to live as I have to take care of my mother.  Once she is gone, I am also ready to go as there is no reason or purpose to live any more.  This thought came not because of depression, but as I am facing the reality of life.  Then I wrote this song.  However after completing the writing, when I was typing this song in the computer next day, I said that this is not the way to conclude this song. So while typing I wrote the final stanza to give some encouragement to cope with the reality of life.

296Cut in the right place

Days are running and we too move along with it

And we witness many good and bad (in life)

We ask so many questions to ourselves

And we cheat ourselves by giving so many answers

It is better to live the life without understanding (it)

Once we understood everything become complicated

When we try to undo the knots

Finally the entire thing get spoiled

However life goes smoothly

Automatically so many small knots will come

Not losing everything by making the knots more twisted

We need to accept small small knots

If we try to undo the small knots

Small small knots more will come

And when we try to remove (one) knot

Finally the entire thread gets cut in to small pieces

When the knot is very small

We should cut the thread in proper place

Even though we will lose a small part

Not losing the entire thread we should learn to manage (life)

12-4-17,Mathigiri, 11.30 pm.

Another song reflecting various complication in life particularly when we rub shoulders with others.  Better incur small damages than spoiling the entire life for everyone.  But how and when to do that is the art of living.  As I do cross stitch work, I have faced so many such situations.  In order to save the thread when I try to remove the small knot, finally I end up not only losing the thread but even the fabric also gets damaged.  So several times, not minding the loss of short threads without mercy I will cut finding proper place to cut it.

297Not at all bitter

This indeed is a good life

I found fulfilment in it

There is no hesitation (on my part)

To accept it as it is

Somehow time is going

Along with the days are moving

Once I realized this

Peace comes within me

The sun is not rising

Only after asking us in the morning

Time and days are not moving

After consulting us

Those who live with us

Though live with us giving company

When will depart (after death)

Definitely won’t come with us

Millions are born and

Millions are dying

In the race of time

They all get disappeared

I won’t be here

As an exception among them

Once I understood this truth

This life is not at all bitter

12-4-17,Mathigiri, 11.45 pm.

Another reflection about the reality of a routine life.  Not only time but each day is moving as if it is pre-programmed and I am not even get consulted in any of these things.  Though I have my own personal freedom to choose how I am going to spend my time, yet Time as an entity never waits and I am happy about it.  Particularly when I become sick and I have no control even over my time, I am happy that I am no more an exception among the millions.  So such thought instead of making feel depressed helps me to rejoice as several times many things are not under my control.

298Again talking

I speak by remaining silent

But when I speak I babble

Then I realize that

There is no use in too much talk

Yet by talking (much)

I am get trapped

Then I do

Thousands of argument (to justify my talk)

When finally

That too becomes mere waste

Finally I keep silent

By shutting my mouth

Yet in my heart

Constantly thinking many things

Continuously talking

I cheat myself (as if I remain silent)

Finally though

There is no use in talking (much)

As I born as a human being

Again I began to talk.

12-4-17, (13-4-17) Mathigiri, 12.15am

Though I prefer a life of recluse and not to talk much, yet I am very talkative. Several times I feel that I am talking too much without any use.  Though I try to limit my talk, yet all my writings, including all my poems are one way another form of talking.  Even when I keep quiet and not talk, yet in my mind I talk too much.  Though I become tired of it and try to avoid it, yet I constantly fail in it.  This song is another such vain talk about rebuking me for talking too much.

299There is no use in writing

Though many thoughts are coming

I don’t have any desire to write them

I don’t know the reason for this

I don’t know how to communicate

I become tired in my body

My strength is also getting diminished

My brain (mind) refused to think

What else is there to share?

By mistake my parents begot me

Somehow they brought me up

Then sent me (to the world) to struggle

And they left me to lament

There is no point in blaming others

There is no mistake on the part of parents or relatives

Others are not responsible for this

And my heart also has no share in it

Unwilling to live like others

And do to something new

I walked alone in my way

Without having any communication with others

Many try to counsel me

In a language which I couldn’t understand

Though I too tried in many ways

Till I cannot understand them

Finally when I realized the truth

I couldn’t found anyone with me

Therefore there is no point of further sharing

And that is why I am not writing (anymore)

Mathigiri, 11.05, pm. 20-4-17

These days I become very lazy. I don’t want blame the ill health or my recently concluded 8 weeks (long?!) North trip.  Because amidst my ailment with back pain and cough and cold, on 12th I manage to write more than 3 songs in a single day. So when one person asked whether I am still writing poems as he and his wife always like to read my poems, I began to think about it.  Though inspirations came several times, due to laziness I deliberately ignored to write down a poem.  I prefer to lay down even unable to sleep.  In the past when I cannot sleep, after tossing on my bed, I will get up and do something—reading or writing.  If nothing works, at least I used to do my cross stitch work. But now I prefer to lay down unable to do anything due to sheer laziness.  So this night when I was lying down unable to read or write, then I began to think various thoughts.  Though inspiration compelled me to write, I resisted.  But I said to myself, ‘ok. Let me write at least one more poem’.  And I got up and wrote this song.

But I warn that this won’t be the last poem and more might come.

300There is no other alternative

Somehow even someone

Is thinking about me?

They have concern

For me

They write to ask

Few words about my health

And they call me

To enquire about my health

Only in human

Relationship

We can experience

This nobleness

In order to show

That we are still human beings

Is possible by

Only asking about others

There is none

Who has lived?

By saying that

I don’t need others

Even if some crack comes

Because of friction

There is no other means to live

Expect through relationship

Mathigiri, 21-4-17,11.05 pm.

As I become very sick I often received several whatsapp messages with much concern about my health.  Even some people take time to call and enquire about my health.  Overwhelmed by their love and concern I wrote this song celebrating human relationship—which is so beautiful in this life as humans.  No doubt that we are social animals.
