181. realized the truth
All the glory goes to God
Every pride is only to my Master
Knowing that you are the God without any equal
I bowed at only your feet
You created everything with one word
You will protect everything with your grace
Yet having mercy on me
You renounced everything because of your compassion
Is there any other God like you?
For the people of this world to be redeemed
who came taking the human form
the people of this world won’t understand because of the delusion of their mind
What kind of tapas (austerity) I have performed
What kind of Punya (merit) I received
What kind of karma that I have done
For you to lord over me by overcoming me
I never come unto you longing after you
I never gave myself voluntarily
For you to save me by interfering
I never bowed at your feet with humility
Knowing my condition well
Therefore taking pity on me
You came after seeking me
You had friendship like a friend
After experiencing, I realized that
You are the Eternal God
Through bhakti I bowed at your feet
And I said that ‘you are enough for this sinner’.
After knowing this truth
What else I required
All fame goes only to you
Knowing this I bowed at your feet.

One important aspect in our bhakti is that we give all the glory only to God; however we receive some praise from others for our efforts.

182. God is our only support
There is no support outside Him
Without Him nothing can be accomplished
Once God become our companion
There is no fear for us in this world
We cannot live with money or strength
Outside authority won’t be helpful
Human support won’t come all along the way
We cannot win because of our determination
Wealth won’t come to use because we stored it
Though work we cannot win over the life
However we try the consequence
Cannot be ours in the end.
Once we have done our part of the duty
If we have the thought that
‘it is not I but you alone accomplished’
Then God will remain our support for ever.
11-08-2013. 9.00 a.m. Gurukulam.
There is no safety outside the will of God. A bhakta can never depend on any other support other than God. Of course God will use only other agencies to help us. But our trust is in Him. In this context I like this sloka in Bhajagovindam:
Makuru dhana jana yauvana garvam
Harati nimishaat kalaha sarvam
Maya mayamidam akilam chitva
Brahma padam tum pravisha viditva
Don’t boast about wealth, people support or on youth-hood
Time will destroy them all within seconds
The world is nothing but maya
Knowing this, take refuge at God. (quoted from memory and a free translation).

183. What more pleasure is there?
What kind of pleasure more than this I need
What kind of peace other than this is required for my heart?
I will remain forgetting about myself
I will give myself to you
You too will fill within me
And remain one with me
Keeping the need of the body
I too sought several kinds of pleasures
But there is no contentment in any of them
And the completeness that you give is not in them
I will seek only your feet
I will seek only your company
I will mingle with you till I live
I will finally reach your feet.
15-08-2013, 8.45 a.m. Gurukulam.
Though the word pleasure is more related to physical need and satisfaction that we derive out of it, yet God is not denying that too, as He agrees with every kind of legitimate desire (Kama which is not against dharma. See Gita 7:11). In the same way though the joy is a continuous inner experience in bhakti, yet the pleasure that my mind, heart and body derive from the time that I spent with the lord is also a reality. However I am busy with the rest of the day, the few moments that I spent with the Lord gives some kind of peace and pleasure to my restless mind (brain). Pleasure though temporary yet that too is a gift from God for a bhakta. What I mean here is that the joy that we have in the Lord is continuous inner experience but the time that we spend with Him in our sadhana is a kind of pleasure that our brain enjoys that time. Like the satisfaction that we derive after having a good meal, or the satisfaction when I get after I write a song, the satisfaction that I derive from sadhana is also a reality in bhakti:
‘….Bodies participate in devotional love. They can be trained to express and perceive the signs of the love of God….’ says Roberts ( Michelle Voss Roberts, Tastes of the Divine, New York, Fordham University Press, 2014, 113. For full quote for the context see Bhakti Theology Song 175)

184. I am untruthful one
As much as I know about me
I never remain truthful
Without having any warmness
My heart never melts unto you.
I never do any good to others
Only seeking their welfare alone.
I never remain honest
As per your righteousness.
I am not honest
As my heart itself accuses me.
I never follow my own creed
Which I set for myself
I am a pauper
Unless you come and save me.
What else can I say?
After you know everything.
19-08-2013, 8.45 a.m. Gurukulam.
The open and hidden selfishness in my life in every area often daunts me. At least I know that I never remain honest, transparent and could ever live up to my own creed. This song is a confession of these and all other kinds of shortcomings within me.

185. You are sufficient
Is there any other joy for me other than your presence?
Is there any other relationship for me other than yours
I know neither the good nor the bad
O Lord I don’t know other than your divine feet
Thousands of needs are there in the life
But there is no peace even after receiving them all
How much you give in full, by my heart
I run after something in this life.
It is not money or pleasure
Not fame, strength or any glory
It is not the greatness which the world is giving
It is the relationship that I have with you
Your protection is enough for me
Your divine feet are enough for me
I don’t find satisfaction in any other thing
I will worship your divine feet every moment.
22-08-2013, 8.45. A.m. Gurukulam.
The contentment that I receive each time I sit at the feet of the Lord fills my heart and spirit, yet the longing for it to have more is a constant desire in my life. I say not because I have to write some comments to this poem. But all of us who realize that satisfaction yet longing more for it can endorse this from their life too.
