Secular Song 281

Secular Song 281 I held tiger’s tail
There is no relationship without constraints
There is no life without frictions
We cannot live together without some tension
There is no life on earth without some kind of separation (crack)
“Give it up and adjust”, many advised me
“Stop unnecessary arguments” they said
They also said that “my way is Highway
Is always dangerous”.
Finally, I accepted them all
And standby by giving up
Yet the frictions never came to an end
And friction, tensions and separation never stopped
Now my life becomes like that person
Who caught the tiger’s tail (to escape?)
If he gives it up, then the tiger will attack
And if he continues to hold it, then he will be strained
Until both the tiger and I become tired
There is no solution to this but to go round and round
There is no deliverance for both of us in this game
And there is no use further to share about it.
Mathigiri, 13-1-2017, 11.30 pm.
Another reflection about the friction in Interpersonal relationships. Though I accept all the complications about human relationships, sometimes, no solution works out as I imagine. Then the best solution is to allow time to deal with it and settle down certain issues on its own. As we often hear about the famous statements by politicians in India: Let the law take its natural course, several times, time takes its own natural course and settles down certain issues. Certain problems in life are like catching the tiger’s tail. Neither can we hold it for a long time nor can we give it up. And the best solution is whoever becomes tired first will allow the other to win the game. If the person who holds the tail becomes tired and gives it up the tiger gets its meal. If the tiger becomes tired and faints then that person might have another lease of life.
Secular Song 282

Secular Song 282 Cocoon worm
In this broad and wide world
Where so many kinds of people are living
We have many opportunities to serve
Among the people who have plenty of needs
If we draw a circle and lines
And stand within a narrow space
Always think only about ourselves
There is danger in such life
Real contentment is in such a life
Where we share what we have.
There is meaning for your life
Only when you do good to others
We never live not understanding this
And this truth is not even new
Yet to implement that
We never have enthusiasm much
Stretching the circle a bit
And giving space for others also in it
If we expand our boundaries
We can understand this again
The worm in the cocoon
Only by breaking it and come out of it
Will get a new lease of life
And live multiplying itself.
Mathigiri, 14-1-17, 6.45 am.
When our principle or material things become an end in themselves by creating a barrier for others to use or participate, we automatically create ‘the other’ and tell them that we have no time for them. Those who remain within a close circle serving among themselves again and again, soon will face lots of problems as their own closeness will create internal tension and division. To define and understand our principle we need some Fundamental principle. But we should be flexible and show charity in all other areas. In the name of defending our Fundamentals, if we refuse to be flexible in the peripheral, then naturally we will draw a circle around us and close the door for others, missing every opportunity to show and experience charity in life.
Secular Song 283

Secular Song 283 Keep my mouth shut
No need for argument
And no need for counter argument
Shutting the mouth
Is the wise thing
No need for principles
No need for confusion
It is enough to remain
Faithful in small things
No need to
proclaim to the world
it is enough if we
realize the truth within us
Yet no need
to be selfish
if we think other’s
welfare also (along with ours)
For this
We need to do one thing
Before we think
About other’s welfare
We should remove
Our own selfishness
And we should have
Clarity in our mind
If we have clarity
Arguments will disappear
Once selfishness is gone
Counter argument too will be gone.
Mathigiri, 18-1-17, 1.50 pm.
Debate and discussions are inevitable where ideas are discussed. But when clarity of thought and deep conviction prevail, we can avoid unnecessary arguments and counter arguments, as they never are going to help us to reach a meaningful conclusion. I have seen several times in my life that when healthy debate and discussion happen there is a place for dialogue but when they lead to unnecessary argument and counter argument, we will grind the same dough again and again without an end. So, most of the time I would like to avoid arguments though I am happy to engage in healthy dialogue based on debate and discussion where reason will finally prevail.
Secular Song 284

Secular Song 284 Untitled story
As my life remains
An unwritten story
What kind of title
Can I give it to you?
As I remain
Meaningless poem
How can I compose?
Music to it!
As my speech
Remains unclear
How can I write?
Any commentary to it!
When I walk
Where there is no path
How is it possible
For me to complete my journey!
As there are
Similar questions here
Where can I go for the answer?
Which is not even there?
Finally, when the
Words are confused
Not knowing
How to complete this poem
I alone live
Savouring everyday life
Silently laughing
Within me
Mathigiri, 19-1-17. 11.35 p.m.
As I went for my night walk, the first line automatically came to mind. I tried to ignore even that inspiration. But as further words began to flow in my mind, I wrote this song within 3 minutes. But as I wanted to end this song with some humour, I reflected on how to complete it with such spirit. And when the thoughts came again, I wrote the final stanza and began to laugh within me for a long time and retired to bed by 12.30 with a smile still on my lips.
Secular Song 285

Secular Song 285 A shortcoming with short coming
Thousands of faults one would find
thinking that they are without fault
unable to see good in anything
they search only bad things just for evil sake
God kept flower only amidst thorn
He kept water inside the rock
In those whom we consider as fools
He kept so many beautiful thoughts like pearls
we should not mock anyone
thinking that they are ignorant
but they will be nobler than
those whom we consider as great
In order to see the good in others
the nature of fault finding should go
once we began to see only good in them
this fault finding nature will go away from us
There is none on this earth
who lived without any shortcomings
once we began to see all the defects as fault
then there is none as a perfect being
Mathigiri, 20-1-17, 2.10 pm.
The only way to get rid of fault finding nature with us is to see good in others.
