Secular Song 291

Secular Song 291 Travel
Many are the travels in this world
Many will travel (with us) in (our) life
“Till the end, who will come with us?”
Is the real question indeed.
This began even before our birth
It will continue even after we have gone
But who joined and left (us)
We don’t know
As parents first joined
And the siblings were added more
Along with relatives and neighbors
A kind of journey continues
Known and unknown also come and join
Along with them friends also are accompanying
Strangers also be there with us
Another kind of journey grows
Though all these come with us
What is a true journey?
Till the end we don’t know
Because nobody understands it
But if you understand the journey, it won’t be pleasant
There is no answer to the riddle
There is no use in asking
Many questions in travel
We don’t know for sure
What is waiting at the turn?
We don’t know
When unexpected accidents will come
There is no other choice
But to accept if it comes
But the journey will
Never come to an end with that
When we go as much as we can
We will get new experiences
Only when we are ready to accept them
Then the journey will remain pleasant
8-2-2017 in the train, (on the way to Kolkata) 7.30 am
As I was thinking about various travels that I undertook I was reflecting upon the travel itself. Then as inspiration came, I wrote this song on my train journey to Kolkata.
Secular Song 292

Secular Song 292 your condition is pitiable
He has many pressures
Why do you worry about it?
In what way you are less than him
As you too run each minute
There is no point in pitying him
And you don’t need to understand it
Even if he comes to get advice
You have no time for that
Once in a while you lift up your head
To look others
All other times
You remain buried within you
None came to help you
To lift you up
In this condition, even if you think
There is no chance for you to help others
I shared what I know
And I too further have no more time
If someone come forward to help you
Without forgetting I will send them to you
When I will come back,
If you were still alive
Definitely I will reach you
And pull you up
Till that time
You too struggle (on your own)
When you are in a pitiable condition
Why try to give advice to others
Dayanand Bharati, kolkata, 1 2.2.2017, 7.15 am
As I was doing my morning exercise, I heard the sound in the kitchen. Then I thought that to save time, I will go and ask for the tea. While my host will be preparing it, I will complete the final three exercises and will have my tea and then go for my walk. Then I said to myself, why such a hurry and why not do things leisurely. So, I completed my exercises and asked for tea. Meanwhile, not to waste even a few minutes, till the tea came I began to do other small things.
After having my tea, I came down for my walk. As it is a big apartment, there is a path for walking. Then one young man was rushing to his vehicle with his office bag. That time the priest came to perform the morning puja in the small shrine within the compound. As he was about to perform the aarati, the young man stopped to remove his shoes, then he saw his watch and without removing the shoes he folded his hands and uttered a few words and rushed to his vehicle. As I observed all this with a smile, I said the first two lines of this song.
Immediately I reflected back on what I had done a few minutes before to save my time. Then as the inspiration continue to flow immediately, I wrote this song within five minutes and recorded in my mobile and RUSHED TO FINISH MY MORNING WALK AS I HAVE TO LEAVE BY 8.30
Secular Song 293

Secular Song 293 use words with measure
This is the reality on this earth
This we should realize in life
There is no use
In using excessive words
We should talk knowing what we talk
Not scattering words unnecessarily
We should contemplate
How far is it true—what we talked
We can talk many things
Just for the sake of saying something
Understanding it (viz. it is just a formality)
We can forget it next second
But if it becomes habitual
Then it will be dangerous
What we talked just for formality
Might even turn again us
Nothing wrong enjoying
In casual talks
But it is not good
Only to talk casually all the time.
We should live knowing the truth that
Even words have their own strength
So we should talk
Knowing the time, place and purpose
Meraganon, (near Nainital), 7-3-2017, 5.30 am.
One American girl in our talk with a group of them at Delhi on 5th March, 2017, asked a question about how to respond to her Indian friend who told her clearly that she believes in herself and does not want to believe in the gospel. Then the American girl said: I really love my friend and want her to know about the Lord. But how to convince her, as she does not want to listen to her”?
In my response I said that the Lord himself said that only a sick person needs the doctor and not the healthy one. So instead of wasting your time you have to move ahead. Then that American girl said that she really loves her friend deeply and wants to see that she should accept the Lord. This bit irritated me, but not showing it, I asked, “do you really love that your friend. Suppose, for some reason, if have to go back to your country and never could come back, then what will happen to your deep love for your Indian friend? Will you keep in touch with her throughout your life?
When I was later reflecting about it, I realized how much we all use several words without taking them seriously. That Indian girl to that American is just a contact or acquaintance and even a ‘target’ for her agenda, not a true friend with any deep lifelong commitment. And soon both will forget each other. The American girl might have sympathy and desire to share the gospel. If her Indian friend doesn’t respond, then she should move ahead without having any guilty conscience.
Similarly, another American boy asked me later when he was taking me to the railway station what was the right time to talk about deeper things with his Indian friends after having initial talks. In my response I said that according to my understanding Muktiveda never put life in different compartments, taking one thing as shallow and another one deeply. Every aspect of human life is a deeper thing for god. Eating proper food in time, taking proper rest etc., are deeper things for me.
Another young Indian girl after the satsang asked (on 4.3.17) “when we pray to God we only ask for material things like wealth, health, name and fame and how to overcome it?”
In my response I said that that is where the muktivedic value differs completely as it never considers or treats material needs as wrong or illusion. It takes material things seriously and points out that it is a blessing from God. It encourages us to enjoy it properly, but with a strong reminder that we are mere stewards and not owners to abuse or misuse it.@
In another time in another place when one non-Indian told that he has a ‘Raki sister’ who tied rakhi on raksha bandhan day and they even put his name in the wedding card of her marriage. Then I asked him then can he actually commit life long as a brother commits in India for her sister and her children?
This is true even in India. But this is part of our culture and worldview. We never call our neighbors by their name but even call unknown person as ‘brother, sister, uncle, aunty’ in the respective local language (like didi, chacha, bhaya in Hindi, akka, annan, maama, periyappu, cittappu, perisu, podiyan etc. in Tamil). At the same time in several families, they will call close and blood relatives only by name and not using that particular relationship not even using honorific words adding ‘ji’ at the end as they do in North or plural form of verb (like neengal, vaanga, ponga etc. in Tamil but only using ‘nee, vaa, po’ etc.). Rarely another person can become a bosom friend or part of another family. Not realizing this, just thinking or calling others as real friends, brother and sister and approaching life won’t work in real life.
So when I recalled all this talking, I realized that we all, including me, use several words without taking them seriously. As I was reflecting it I wrote this song
@…there is no “spiritual gospel” that can be endorsed in isolation from the reality of the physical world that God created, called “good” and into which he placed human beings. This combination of the spiritual and the physical and its relationship to God is at the heart of the teachings of Jesus. For example, the Lord’s Prayer includes a request for the gift of bread. {The Parable of the Rich Fool. Lk. 12: 13-21}— Kenneth E. Bailey, Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels, Illinois, IVP Academic, 2008, p. 298
Secular Song 294
Secular Song 294 Return of the spring
This is the time to come together again
And it is the time to recall about the past
As the old memories come as wave
It is time to recall those days
In our school days
We roamed like free birds
When time had come to get separated
We went way without any trouble in our conscience
In this wide world
We went away in different directions
Without having time to think about others
Life is also gone in many ways
When the time of retirement came
And when we sat leisurely
To recall our past memories
We began to think about that relationship (friendship) which we have lost
Though we gain so many things in full
We have lost something
And when we searched back what we have lost
Then we recognized what it is
We lived so far not even knowing that
Those friends with whom we enjoyed company
In our school days
We lived somehow far away from them
When we got few among them back
The spring time has come back again
And to celebrate it again
We now join together in this old age
Mohanpura (Rajasthan), 26-3-2017, 10.10 pm.
One of my school friends began to contact me again last year. He also came to visit me in the ashram. He often calls and talks. When I was in Rajasthan he called and shared about other classmates (or school mates who studied in different sections). After he talked, as I was sitting on the roof of Yogi’s house in a small and calm village surrounded by hills and enjoying the cool breeze and calm atmosphere, my mind went back to my school days and I began to recall so many events of that time. But what struck me was that when we all completed our school, we all separated least thinking that we might not even see each other in our lives. In this old age, getting separated from a close friend is unthinkable and it will affect our life very much. But in those early days of schooling, we always looked forward to the unknown world of college and jobs and life, we never took it seriously when we were separated. As I was reflecting about it.

Secular Song 295

Secular Song 295 Struggles
Struggle with whom?
And struggle for what?
And how to struggle?
Why should I even struggle?
Though many such questions
Are here in life
Till the end
Struggle won’t end!
Did we born
To struggle in this body?
Do we have a mind/heart?
To struggle with others?
Are we living in order?
To struggle in it?
Finally no one actually
Getting that victory!
Once life is gone
After all kinds of struggle
When we are waiting
Eagerly for the death
Once that too becomes
A struggle
Will we give up that longing?
As we don’t have any more strength?
Either we came to struggle
Or live with all kinds of struggles
In order to make the
Life as a garden
Not merely wasting the life
Only in such struggles
We need to think the
Garden sometimes in our mind
Mathigiri, 12-4-17,10.30 pm.
As I am down with back pain and cough and cold, unable to do much work, I was simply laying down on my cot—even unable to sleep. Though others helped us their best, as he too has to go to work and have his own personal life, sometimes I found mere survival as a struggle, as I have to take care of my mother and other routine works—just to survive. That time I seriously said that now I have to live as I have to take care of my mother. Once she is gone, I am also ready to go as there is no reason or purpose to live any more. This thought came not because of depression, but as I am facing the reality of life. Then I wrote this song. However after completing the writing, when I was typing this song in the computer next day, I said that this is not the way to conclude this song. So while typing I wrote the final stanza to give some encouragement to cope with the reality of life.
