BT Songs 336 to 340

BT Song 336. Who will provide?

Like a servant who looks

Unto the face of his master

Like a lame who

Sought the company of the crutch

Seeking few drops of water

Farmers are looking to the sky.

Folding our hands

We bow unto you as

The seeds which are sprouted

Not to get burnt;

That are longing for water

In order to grow.

Realizing our situation

Show some mercy

Not saying ‘no’

Give us some rain,

Because who else is there

To provide us other than you?

19-9-15, Mathigiri, 2.00 pm.

After some rain again there came a long dry spell.  Then my neighbour said, pray again for rain.  He said as a joke, ‘unless you write a poem and rebuke God, rain is not coming’.  When I recalled his words in the afternoon, instead of rebuking God I begged Him to give rain.  Now when I am writing this on 16-11-2015 there has been continuous rain for the last ten days and he said on 14th, ‘now you have to pray to stop the rain’.  We humans are at the mercy of both God and nature and expect God to dance according to our tunes.

BT Song 336.

BT Song 337.  We need to succeed

As you are there to give company to me

And ready to carry me on your shoulder

Will I be bewildered?

Thinking about the future?

Thinking about the nature of the future

And considering all the needs of (that) life

Will I lose the peace of mind?

Which I have at present?

Whatever might come?

And even if we accept it as inevitable

Somehow we need to live it out

Where is the way to escape?

Keeping the company of the Lord

And facing it

We need to live and

Get success.

19-9-15, (20-9-15) Mathigiri.  12.15 am.

The challenges in life are inevitable.  Those who depend upon their own strength and efforts carry the burden along with the side effects like tension etc. with them.  Though a bhakta too will have tension, yet once she trusts the Lord, she can relax a bit that the challenges will motivate to face them rather than considering them as burdens.  When I thought about it, I wrote this song.

BT Song 337.

BT Song 338 Nothing left unaccomplished

Won’t my heart melt?

Won’t the body also dissolve in you?

Won’t my heart enjoy the sweetness?

When I come unto you?

Won’t I forget myself?

Won’t it give humility in my spirit?

When I come unto you seeking you

Won’t my heart rejoice?

Won’t tears come?

Won’t my stone heart also melt?

When I dissolve in you

Wont’ I have your darshan?

Won’t I get bhakti?

Won’t I get bliss?

When I come as a bhakta

Won’t my mind rejoice too?

Won’t I offer a prayer?

Won’t I get when I ask

When the bhaktas ask

Won’t they get your grace?

Won’t the ego disappear?

Won’t my selfishness go?

Once I become yours

Won’t I get your feet?

Nothing is impossible

And there is no other refuge other than your feet

Nothing is unaccomplished

For your bhaktas.

[I find it difficult to translate this song in English. db]

23-9-15, 2.45 pm, Mathigiri.

After my regular Muktivedic reading and other reading, when I wanted to spend a few minutes quietly, I realized that living as a ‘bhakta’ enjoying the relationship with the Lord often gives some kind of solace to the atman than all kinds of other physical and intellectual activities.  As human beings we cannot avoid all kinds of ‘karmas’ (works) but the way they drive us to do more to derive some kind of satisfaction never gives that.  Whereas, the few minutes that we spend with the Lord, only for the sake of Him, gives some joy to the atman.  As I was enjoying that kind of joy in those few minutes that I spent I began to write this poem expressing that experience in the Lord.  In fact, like charging the battery for a mobile or computer to continue the work, such contact with the Lord enables a bhakta to accomplish more work both for personal satisfaction and bring blessings to others.

BT Song 339 Accept as Praises.

Only seeking you

For your sake

When I am going to come

Unto your feet?

Each second is going

Thinking about the needs of this world

Mind too wanders

Seeking after them!

Even though I received all

Still there is a longing within me

Seeking after the one which I miss

My heart is longing for it.

I become like the deer

Which chases the mirage?

And till the end not finding the water

I fell down crying

That time having mercy

Not allowing me to die

Showing me the fountain of living water

Your redeemed me by quenching my thirst

Yet my demonic nature

Often raising its head

Longing for the things

Which I couldn’t receive.

When this struggle will come to an end

When this struggle in mind will stop

As long as I live on this earth

I won’t get deliverance from this.

Therefore at least few seconds

I come unto you seeking your feet

Even that few seconds

I cannot worship you

What else can I do?

How to lament by telling what else?

But accept even this wailing

As the praise.

24-9-15, Mathigiri, 2.30 pm.

Like most other bhaktas, when I sit for my regular prayer, my mind wanders and also thinks about so many other needs and work that is ahead. Many times I pray for my needs and others’ needs.  Then I thought that the mark of bhakti is to go to Him only for His own sake and not for any other thing.  As this thought again came, I wrote this song.  When I cannot concentrate in my worship and prayer in those few seconds which I try to spend with the Lord, then my only request to God is to accept even that wavering mind and thought along with my cry as praises.

BT Song 340. Inherent nature

Negative views

So many arguments

When come out of me

What can I do?

Though my heart longs

To seek goodness

And to do good

The truth is different

With much irritation

And quickly reacting

If I argue often

It becomes too dangerous.

The buddhi is telling

To keep silence

To listen others

And to have patience

Yet the inherent nature

Remains the same

Though often get hurt

It refuses to get changed

What else can I do?

To whom should I listen?

What should I do?

To change this nature?

You often advise me and

Become tired of giving such advice

Once I return back after wounded

You apply balm on the wound

Though the body is worn out

And lost my strength

This inherent nature will

Never dry up.

Ok let it be

Let it be according to your will

Why should we now

Argue over it?

29-9-15, Mathigiri, 2.45 pm.

We Indians love to argue, even knowing that there is no use in it. I am one such. Several times, after a big argument, I regret that I have wasted all our time.  But this nature is not going to change that much easily.  As I was reflecting on this nature, I spent lots of time reasoning and justifying why I am correct and need to argue.  At the end I said to the Lord ‘Ok.  Why should we both argue over it and let your will be done.’ Then I wrote this song.

BT Song 340.
