Secular Song 321 to 325

Secular Song 321

Secular Song 321 Dream came to an end

I was living in my world of dreams

I had so many visions about life

But like the one who saw dreams

I forgot all that I saw in my dreams

Constructing so many castle in mind

Expanding it with maya

Keeping desire as the guard for it

I longed to accumulate more and more

Even knowing that it is beyond my reach

Still, I longed for them

However I tried, I cannot get them

But the desire has not gone

I wandered aimlessly

For unnecessary things

When finally I got it on my hand

Somehow I lost it within few seconds

But my mind is not ready

To accept this reality

Knowing well that the dreams won’t be useful

Still I didn’t stop seeing dreams

Where is the release for this

I don’t know that for sure

But once I wake up from my sleep

There is no place for dreams

Now the time has come to wake up

I found the release for which I was longing

Now I understood the truth clearly

And the dream has come to an end

Mathirigi, 18-6-2017,11.00 p.m.

I often live in my own imaginary (foolish) world. In the past and also in the present I imagine so many things about my life.  But nothing materializes as I imagined.  It is like seeing a dream which even I cannot remember after I get up. Though I know that I can never live in my own imaginary world, yet I cannot give it up imagining it.  Maybe the hope in life is sustained because of these dreams.

Secular Song 322

Secular Song 322 Remains thankless

What is there for us to say?

To those who remain thankless

They will only think about their own need

And always live only for it

How much help they might have received

Somehow they will forget all of them

But they will blow horn and proclaim

About the small help that they have done

When we listen to the

Definition that they give to the word ‘gratitude’

We will have more pity on them

(We will become more upset with them)

And we will laugh at them

I too one among them

I am the meanest one who remain thankless

How much help that I received from others

Somehow I forgot all of them

Keeping my own interest

I will do small favours to others

Then I will expect bigger things from them

And once I received them, I will forget

Even when my mind rebukes me

I will have an answer for that too

Acting before others very tactfully

I will overcome them with my oratory

This is not introspection

And I have no hesitation to share this

When so many people live like me

I never feel ashamed about it

Mathigiri, 19-6-2017, 6.30 pm.

Gratitude is one of the best and highest human virtues.  As Valluvar says* there is no chance for redemption or new life for the one who never showed gratitude in his life.  But often I justify it by consoling myself that I am not the only person with such an attitude.

–Who every good have killed, may yet destruction flee.  Who ‘benefit’ has killed, that man shall ne’er ‘scape free’—Kural 110

Explanation: He who has killed every virtue may yet escape, there is no escape for him who has killed a benefit.

Secular Song 323

Secular Song 323 Leave me alone

I am a mad person

There is no treatment for me

I babble something

This become my habit

By thinking again and again

The brain is diminished

What is left?

Also become useless

I searched everywhere

A treatment for this

And I longed

To know where I could get one

All the doctors whom I consulted

Are not good

Half of them

Are already mad persons

And those

Who had a sober mind?

Become mad

After treating me

Therefore

There is a way

Not get hurt

By me

‘Let him babble’

By saying this

Leaving me alone

Is the best option

Mathigiri, 20-6-2017, 6.15 pm.

As I went for my evening walk. Again I was thinking about the way I write my poems and also my comments to them. Several times I found my poems are irrelevant and mere verbal expressions of emotion have any substance in them.  At the same time I am happy that I never write to harm anyone and others have the option to ignore them. So the best approach is to better ignore me by allowing me to babble something than taking my writings or poems seriously.

Secular Song 324

Secular Song 324 Unstable mind

Mind will limp often

It will wander in many ways

When you think one thing

Another will follow it

You need to train yourself

To live with this unstable mind

There is no alternative to it

There is no means to overcome it

Even if you use your buddhi

And think new means (to control it)

Taking the buddhi to its side

It will give more trouble to you

Even if you sought the help of your soul

That too will run far away

It will be gone to a far off place

Saying, ‘leave me alone’

Finally if you sought God’s help

He too will remain hidden somewhere

Not showing where he is, he will tell

‘That is your funeral’.

This is the reality today

There is no wrong in accepting this

There is no more means

For you to think alternative ways.

Mathigiri, 21-6-2017, 6.30 pm.

I often noted that my mind never remains stable even on one thought for a few seconds. Sometimes while I was thinking on one subject another will prop up behind. Sometimes I have experienced thinking about two or three subjects simultaneously. Though I attempted various means to discipline and control, I failed in all of them.  As I was reflecting on this, I wrote this song and recorded it on my mobile.

Secular Song 325

Secular Song 325Time get wasted

Don’t waste your time

Don’t write unnecessary poems

Saying that your are writing for your need

Don’t make others a mad person

You are straining your buddhi

And think foolishly

Just to join the first and last words

You merely add mere words

Thinking that you are a special person

And estimating more than what you are

Don’t try to create history

And don’t go beyond your limit

Don’t you know how to spend time?

Cannot you think properly

You should learn by observing others

And know how to live wisely

What you have achieved so far

By all the poems that you have written

Much precious time alone get wasted

And many pages also get spoiled

Now why even you are writing this too

You never repent how much advice I give

Do whatever you want that is your problem

Now leave me alone and let me go

Mathigiri, 23-6-2017,10.30

After doing my regular reading, I saw that still there was 20 minutes left to go and prepare Tiffin for my mother. Then I opened my computer to type some notes from the book.  That time I said to myself ‘don’t waste any time’.  Then as the first word began to inspire I wrote it down, but not paying much attention I continued to type my notes.  In the night when I recalled that line again, to tease me for writing poems I wrote this song rebuking me.###
