Secular Song 381

Secular Song 381 Should help
We should know about other’s pain
Then try to understand it
Then we should try to empathize with them
(Then we should try to identify with them)
And try to live as human beings.
Whatever we can do through our body
We should do it immediately
And which one needs to be done through heart
Should be done silently
If they come and ask voluntarily
Then we should not refuse
We should do by seeking them
And not postponing what we need to
They might have thousands of reasons
And may hesitate to ask us
But even understanding that
We need to do accordingly
Without doing some help
Spending even a single day is a waste
What is the use of having this body?
It is mere waste to come to this world
There are many with so many needs
They are amidst us
We should know their need
From there alone we should begin
Gurukulam, 30-9-2017, 6.30 am.
One blessing that we have as human beings is the help that we can do for others. Without doing some help through body, mind and spirit if we spend a day, then it is a wasteful day. But often we ignore those who are around us and try to do our best to meet their needs, will often think, talk and do something about helping others who are away from us. That is not bad, but once we learn to address the needs of others who rub shoulders with us—particularly the domestic helpers and other poor and needy who are amidst us.

Secular Song 382 Wasting the youth hood
The unwanted loneliness
And wasting youth hood
Some cannot understand
Even if we try to point this
What can other do for them
And how to communicate
Their condition is
Indeed very harsh
They are longing for something
They are bewildered
They long for the life
Which they were seeking
Whose fault is this?
We don’t know
Who has done the mistake
We cannot understand
If they choose voluntarily
They can bear the pain
But when it is imposed unwontedly
Then it is too much for them to accept
They wait thinking that
Time will come
Even if it is not materialized
They didn’t get what they like
They cannot like what has come
But there is no alternative to this
And they don’t have a life
But they didn’t accept
The defeat
And never
Remain paralyzed
All should learn a lesson
Through their experience
And surely we should find a
Solution for this
Gurukulam, 1-10-2017, 11.10
This is a painful topic for me. Though I choose this life of Single person deliberately and voluntarily, there are many who remain not of their own choice, but forced to lead that life due to various reasons. Particularly those who lost their life partner or get separated struggle a lot to re-start their life fresh. As I thought about them, I wrote this song. The ratio of divorce and broken marriages in our Indian society is very alarming. Similarly, the life of a single person is increasing more. According to me this is not good for any society.
Secular Song 383

Secular Song 383 We are responsible
I can imagine about thousands of things
And I can plan very clearly about them
But I can understand this one clearly that
The result is not in my hand
Will it be according to my karma?
Or god will take care of it
Or both are not correct and
It is left with me on my own hands
Who is responsible for this?
Whether karma or god
Reaping the final result is
Definitely only in my hands
I am the one who first imagined about them
I am the one who planned accordingly
In the meantime can both karma and god
Claim any share in it?
Are both karma and god are mere imagination
Is implementing the work in their hands?
Do we have the answer to this question?
Which is there from time in memorial?
There are many answers to this question
And there are many commentaries about it
But which one should be accepted
Is left with each one individually
Gurukulam, 6-10-2017, 11.30
First a thought, then imagination, then desire, then longing (thrishna), then convinced about it and finally implementation—these are the processes behind most of our actions. As everything is done by me, what is the role of karma or god in it? It is well said that ‘we have the right to choose, but we don’t have the right to choose the consequence of our choice. They are in the hands, not that of our own’. But is it true? Of course I cannot decide about the result. But who is responsible for that?
This song could come under bhakti theology. But as my rational mind challenges both god and karma, I thought better to keep this in secular song. Maybe this is what my karma or god wants me to do? Or this is my own decision and the result is that I brought it in a secular song!
Secular Song 384

Secular Song 384 The way to survive
I have done many mischief things in life
At the end I lost it completely
Then counting the days
Now shutting my mouth I remain silently
I lived by controlling others
How much I roared among them with words
Now all those plays have gone
Now it is time for me to dance for other’s tune
There was no limit for all my talks
I never remained quiet even for a day
Now all those talks have gone
Now become the object of other’s talk and scolding
None dared to oppose me
They won’t even question me once
Now everything has changed
And so many counter arguments and responses are coming now
Am I to say that this is the play of the time?
Or to say that time is not good for me
What is the use of telling which one is it?
And where is the answer to these questions
Recalling what went in the past
And giving up all kinds of mischief
Remaining quiet and silently
Is it the only means for survival?
Gurukulam,6-10-2017, 11.10 pm.
When I heard about a person now in his old age who remains quiet and calm contrary to his nature to what he has done in the past I wrote this song. In old age survival is the only option left giving up all other things in life.
Secular Song 385

Secular Song 385 Not living alone
I should not give trouble
To others
Others should not
Trouble me
Why this kind of thought
Often comes to me
Still I cannot
Understand this clearly
Living alone
Gives some kind of pleasure
And living alone is also
Very sweet one (for me)
I like if
No one
Stays along
With me
How to say
What kind of nature is this?
Why this thought
Comes only to me
Rejoicing living
Alone is
Correct or not
What to say about it?
Living alone is
Not living a lonely life
And nobody can live
A lonely life
For that also we need
Other’s help
Then where is
Any loneliness in it?
The reason for this is
Not clear to me
This is not some kind of
Psychological disease, that I am sure
How many explanations
Others might give for this
I cannot understand
This my nature
I need not search
Reason for this
I need not ask
Any kind of explanation
Though I live alone
I am not living a lonely life
This alone I should
Clearly understand.
Gurukulam, 7-10-2017, 11.10 pm.
I always prefer to live alone without anyone around me. As I came to enjoy my recluse life on Sep. 23, I am enjoying each second of this recluse life here. At the same time I know that for this I need others’ help and co-operation. This is my strong conviction that no human can lead a lonely life for a long time. Of course there are some who manage to live alone in the forest surviving by roots and fruits. But according to my understanding that is not a life but a tapasya as they rejected the very (social) life. But a person like me, who interacts with others, yet prefers a life of recluse. If the helpers won’t come in time, sometimes I am troubled, but immediately I will say, ‘one way it is good, as they won’t trouble me more’. And when they come I will have some kind of uneasiness within me and will go to Dhyanamandapa to stay alone. I know this is some kind of selfishness—using others when I want and rejecting them when I don’t want. This is not only with the helpers but even when I live with my mother or others; I always prefer to have ‘my own time’ without anyone around me. Well, I know this is not some kind of mental sickness at the same time I need not search for an answer or need some explanation. I just enjoy it and that is enough for me now.
