BT Song 426

BT Song 426 Don’t lament
Don’t lament oh my mind
And praise the Holy one each day
How much blessings He has given to you
And why you lament further about it—don’t lament…
This is no way justifiable
Even before you ask, He gave in plenty
What else He won’t do for you
As He gave himself for you to be redeemed—don’t lament…
Like pouring oil/ghee in the fire
There is no limit for your need
Even the entire world becomes yours
Your desire will never come to an end—don’t lament…
Even all the rivers finally reach ocean
It will never become full
Similarly He has no means
To fill the ocean of your heart—don’t lament
How wretched your life become
Without Him, even after you have in life
So don’t lament making so many complaints
And don’t get frustrated by longing for unnecessary things—don’t lament
He knows all your needs
And He will bestow them as per the need in each day
Thinking about the needs which are actually you don’t need
Don’t miss what He has already given to you—don’t lament…
Bengaluru, 10-5-16, 8.00 pm.
As I have to leave in a day or two back to Mathigiri, I was preparing a list of things that I need to buy here in Bangalore. After preparing the list, when I thought what the things that were left were, I was laughing within myself. Thinking about the needs of our survival—sometimes which we actually don’t need made me think the way consumerism pre-occupies my mind. Several times I buy unnecessary things, imagining that they will be useful in the future. But in the end I have to throw them in the dust bin. For example, I liked baby corn and bought it. And I preserved it for future needs. Though I kept it in the freezer, it got spoiled and I had to throw it in the dust bin.
BT Song 427

BT Song 427 Bhagavan and bhaktas
The one who
Walked along with us so far
Will come and protect as
As He has done before
His only concern
Is about His bhaktas
What other business He has
Other than this?
Poor One
Without the bhaktas
Who else is there?
To give company to him?
By redeeming the sinners
And made them as His bhaktas
He too lives happily
With them (on this earth)
Once He renounced His (divine) status
And came on this earth
He too become
Lonely person (on this earth)
He too lived
Without His
Parents and siblings
And other relatives (as they all deserted Him)
Even the disciples
Whom He has chosen
Never understood Him
Properly
The people who
Received many blessings (from Him)
Never remained with Him
Till the end
Though He
Become weary remaining alone
His Father too
Never came to uphold Him
When He died on the cross
And gave up His life
None understood Him
Properly
Creating so many religions
And developing many denominations
When people began to live
With all kinds of confusion
He came
Seeking after the bhaktas
And began to dwell
In their heart silently
Now Bhagavan and bhaktas
Happily joining together
In order to redeem the world
Live together
The mandali which
Joined along with them
Praise Him
Joining together
Those bhaktas
Who realized this truth?
Began to live
Together as before
By clinging to Him firmly
Who walks along with us?
Let us too live in Him
Always as before.
Bengaluru, 11-5-16, 7-15 pm.
Once God too becomes human, naturally He too needs our fellowship. The bhakti tradition several times insists that, sometimes a bhakta can survive without the Lord, but the Lord cannot tolerate the separation of His devotees. As I was thinking on this subject I wrote this song.
Of course some find objection to such a view that God cannot live without the company of His bhakta as He is an independent. I respect their view. But bhakti tradition insists that as the bhakta needs the bhagavan, bhagavan also needs the bhaktas. Otherwise there is no point of proclaiming about bhakti.
BT Song 428

BT Song 428 Nothing is lacking
Love is there
And those who seek
There is unceasing
Protection everyday
Nobleness will be there
Along with affection
And if His feet is sought
There is Mukti also
Those who lift up their eyes
They can see His compassion
And those who are depressed
They will get comfort
There are plenty of things
Which cannot be counted?
There will be peace
In spite of abundance
There is sure of cure
For those who come with sickness
And there is food
To remove hunger
There will be another lease of life
For those who fall down
And there will be permanent progress
For those who remain honest
Joy will be there with relationship
And along with it we will have our rights
And your blessings will be there
For who come unto you with a melted heart
Plenty of bhaktas will be there
And there will be always worship
And there is sweet Tamil
To sing your glory
Your Kingdom will be there
In which nothing will lack
And your rule will be there
Which will never see any shortcomings?
Bengaluru, 11-5-16, 8.30 pm.
After writing the previous song (427) I continued my reading. That time I suddenly thought as the Lord too needs our fellowship then what all the benefits that a bhakta can receive from Him. As the inspiration flowed I wrote this song immediately. As usual it is difficult to translate this song in English.

BT Song 429 Again I will begin
Is it possible for me to have?
The same compassion that you have
Can I show the same mercy
That you have shown on us
Can I love the same way
As you loved us
Though this wretched one
Claims as your bhakta?
Though you came
As the very embodiment of compassion
And though you
Implemented it diligently in your life
As I never understood it
In its totality
I cannot follow it
Even an iota of it (in my life)
You showed your compassion
On the poor one
Without showing
Any discrimination among them
Though I too
Received it in full measure
I never saw even a tiny part of it
Within me
You showed to the world
That love is God
Ruling over me with the same love
You made me as your bhakta
Though I understood very little
About that love
But failed even in it
And what can I do any more
And realizing that
This is my nature
Again I will begin
In which I get defeated
And removing my blemish
Through your unchanging grace
This wretched one will
Try to love again
14-5-16, Mathigiri, 2.30 pm.
All the claim that I have love, compassion etc for others is done with selfishness. I failed not only to imitate the Lord but also implement His love, compassion and mercy even a small part of it. But not accepting that defeat I will again try to begin from where I get defeated. Though I said that the Lord came to show that Love is God, actually Muktiveda never says that Love is God but God is love. For the sake of poetic style to match the words in the next line, I wrote that Love is God. But this is common in our Indian tradition where it is often said that Love is God. But if we clearly note the context, in order to show that God’s attribute as loving one cannot be separated from him, it is said that Love is God as Tirumular says in Tirumantiram:
The fools will say that Love and Sivam are two
and no one knows that Love is Sivam
once they know that Love and Sivam are the same
They will remain the same as Love and Sivam are one.

BT Song 430

BT Song 430 I come unto your presence
I came alone unto your presence
Won’t you have some compassion for me?
Though I have many relatives and friends
Yet who would be like you among them—I came alone…
Keeping my whole heart in you
And worshiping you joyfully with songs
By removing unwanted thoughts
And meditating the meaning of your Veda—I came alone…
With a melted heart and overflowing joy
And having bliss both in and out
And singing songs along with bhakti
And to worship your Holy feet—I came alone…
Thinking only noble things and try to do only good
And doing seva always like you
And praying for the people of the world to be redeemed
I will come unto you seeking your grace—I came alone…
Who is there to show mercy like you?
Who is there to give for the redemption of this world (like you)?
How many more bhaktas you might have
Who is there like me among them to celebrate you—I came alone…
15-5-16, Mathigiri, 2.05 pm.
Another song claiming an exclusive relationship with the Lord.
