Secular Song 386 to 390

Secular Songs 386 and 387

Kannan called this night and teased me by saying ‘what, do you find joy in loneliness’? This he often does.  In response I said, ‘No words to explain.  I am enjoying my time alone here.  Then I sang the first line of this song at the same time in which the original film song by Kannadasan in Kalyana Parisu was composed. Then Kannan teased me to write it in full and send it. So tonight I wrote this song to tease Kannan.  Only those who know Tamil can understand as the original is a romantic song in which the heroine teases the hero and tries to persuade to love her, as he remains single.  But I wrote this song just opposite to its meaning.  This morning (10-10-2017) when I went for my walk, as I recalled my song, then I began to write completely opposite to what I have written by saying that it is not possible to find joy in loneliness.  And the next one is just opposite to what I wrote in poem 386.  When the heroine sang in the film to tease the hero, after his love affairs with her failed, he would later sing the same song with a melancholic note. So the next song should be sung in the same melancholic note to understand the contrast between these two songs.

Secular Song 386

Secular Song 386 Sweetness in loneliness

We can find sweetness even in loneliness

When we get such an opportunity, we can realize it

Once the heart becomes tired after too much friction (with others)

Along with the body when the mind also becomes tired

The heart will seek some kind of loneliness

And will find some kind of sweetness forgetting oneself

Though we born with parents and relatives

Though we grew along with them and friends

There will be a longing within the heart

It will long to live alone for some days

When we were born we born alone

When we will go, we will go alone

Though we live with others in between

Yet the heart will long to remain alone

How much I tell about it, others won’t understand

How much I explain they cannot understand

Once lived alone for one time

Then they would never like to lose it again

I am telling this only after knowing personally

I invited to come here so that you also can receive it

But don’t come even by mistake

And don’t spoil my loneliness

Secular Song 387

Secular Song 387 There is no joy in loneliness

One way loneliness is cruel indeed

And it is really a tragedy in many people’s life

So for they have lived as a family with others

And they are used to be with crowds and people

Though friction comes in relationship

Till they prefer to live with others

As they born with parents and relatives

And as they grew up with friends and others

How much friction comes in relationship

They would never prefer to live alone

Though we born alone

Though we will go alone when we will die

Once we lived with others while living

The heart will refuse to live alone

As I realized this, I share with you

As I clearly understood this, I tell you

If they lived one time alone

They would never prefer to have it again

As I experienced this, I tell this to you

And I request you to understand this

Therefore, you never live alone

And don’t try to live like me (alone)

Secular Song 388

Last night after 10. 00 heavy rain came and it poured continuously without stopping till the early morning.  Ever since I came to the ashram on September 23, it has been raining everyday without any gap.  Really there is too much rain and there is no need for it now. Particularly in this area which faced severe drought last year, waiting for a good harvest this year. But if the rain continues to pour down like this, all the standing crops will get destroyed.  Both the ways rain is taking revenge on farmers.  But the worst scenario is the heavy rain in Karnataka, particularly in Bangalore which is creating havoc there.  All the tragedy there is man-made and as usual blame games started while common people suffer.  So when I came out to see the amount of rain, I said, ‘how farmers will survive if it pours down like this.’ Then as I began my walk, I wrote this song.

Secular Song 388

Secular Song 388 Rain

Why the rain is

Pouring like this?

Why the nature also

Taking revenge on us?

Karnataka refused

To give water (to us)

And the farmers

Shed tears

Farmers appealed

To get justice

But as it get delayed

They are stunned

Finally they requested

The nature to do that

As it also refused

They become troubled

God also having

Some patience

He listened to

Both sides’ points

Understanding the

Need in both sides

He also refused to

Give his (final) verdict

Leaving rest to the destiny

The farmers sowed the seed

And began to cry

Looking unto the sky

Their tears

Becoming clouds

Went to the sky

And poured as rain

As the rain

Poured as per their cry

All the dams

Become full now

In order to

Shame the Karnataka

Now destroying them

By pouring down like this

Meanwhile

As the rainy season

Also has started

That rain also joined now

Now it is

Pouring down

Day and night

Without stopping

Now those who sowed

The seed are again troubled

And request to God

To stop the rain

But poor god

What can he do?

What kind of alternative

He can find for human mistake

Not repeating the

Same kind of mistake again

He advised both sides

To co-operate with each other

But as they never

Listened to god so far

How they are going

To listen to his advice?

Secular Song 389

The present youths always think and talk about it Love.  So when one boy’s relatives found a girl and tried to arrange it, then he went into a love mode and began to imagine and even talk about it.  50 years before talking about love affairs, even using the word ‘love’ is a taboo in our society.  But now all talk and even youths never feel shy about it, though we old generation, though not embarrassed about it, find it funny.  So when another proposal came I teased that the boy would try to fix the marriage not missing this opportunity also. Because so many proposals came but nothing worked. When I teased him, he said that if nothing works, he will love a girl. Again when I teased him, he began to sing a song but was unable to continue.  Then I said, ‘stop. Don’t try to write a poem when you are in love mode.  Now I will write a poem about it and will send it to you about the nature of love affairs.’  So to tease him I wrote this song—but dedicated to all the youths who live in their own imaginary world about love affairs.

389 Love affairs

If the one who falls in love

Began to write poem (about it)

Blood alone will come

In the ears of those who listen to it

He who shed tears

When his love affairs fails

Others will

Only laugh about it

The poems

Which are written because of love are

Nothing but babblings

In that intoxication

And the tears

Which came?

Will remain till

Another love affair comes

Even this love is

Only up to the marriage

Only tears alone will come

After marriage

For the love affairs

That comes in youth-hood

Till the end of old age

One should shed tears

Even after knowing this

Not accepting it

And continue to fall in love

Is it nothing but foolishness?

Even after knowing

That it is foolishness

If one continues to love

Is nothing by a thamasha (entertainment?)

Just for entertainment

If one loves

Then his life will

Become an entertainment (for others)

Now one person

Is getting ready to show that entertainment

All of you come and see

To enjoy it

Secular Song 390

The recent incident in Chennai where some college youths displaying swords and knives and terrorizing the people on the railway platform by waving them while travelling in the footsteps of the train shocked many. Still I cannot understand why such things become more common nowadays. Though in our time also college youths did some mischief, they never went to such an extreme. Particularly in Chennai, two college students always treat others as sworn enemies as long as they study in those colleges. This enmity is passed to the next batch of the students and they are very proud and arrogant about it. But they neither understand their loss nor understand the pain that they give to others.  Finally when the police caught them and decided to register the case, they all with many tears begged the police not to do that and promised not to repeat such things again in life.  We need to appreciate the quick action of the police and such college students who are supposed to concentrate in their studies need to be disciplined.  As I recalled that incident I wrote this song.

Secular Song 390

Secular Song 390 Should take the stick

Is it one really lives

After losing it

Better think about it

In your heart

It is mere foolishness

Not to think about

The life on earth

Which we get only once

If get corrupted

In youth hood

The rest of the life

Will become a hell

Neither it will be useful

Nor it will be fruitful

But going to the

Dust bin is its destiny

Spoiling one’s life

And also disturbing others

What they gain

By becoming rowdies

They never

Understand their parents’ burden

And never recognize

Other’s suffering

They don’t understand that

Their life alone is lost by

Doing some mischief

Because of young blood

If they don’t repent

By giving advice

It is better to

Take the stick (to correct them)
