I tried my best to keep quiet, particularly not engaging too much with Whatsapp messages. But somehow some messages trigger me and force me to give my response. Similarly, I want to reduce my reading and writing, even writing poems and doing cross stitch work but remain silent. In other words, I want to become lazy, but I fail and day by day I become more workaholic. When I think about others who never respond to any whatsapp message and remain indifferent to so many things, I long to become like them. But there is no use of imitating others without understanding them. So finally, I have to let it go as long as it will go. There is no other way but to lament like this at present.

One should leave me

One of my school friend’s wives expected me to give advice to her children who in the past used to listen to me. But as they grew up and settled in their life (arranged by their parents), now they are not ready to listen to me as before. However, imagining that they will still listen to and obey she often requested me to counsel them. As I often say, I never like to give counseling or advice unnecessarily. Though in India the so-called ‘individualism’ is not so prominent, as now so many western thoughts are influencing us, the present generation prefers to ‘leave them alone’. Though I don’t agree with it, yet I try to understand and try to ‘leave them alone’. Every generation is on the cross road and needs to learn a lot to understand the changing scenario. I think the present trend in India, particularly among the family, is ‘mind your own businesses’. Well, as a single person, I don’t know how to handle it or what to say. But it is better to keep quiet as the present remedy for such a situation.

As I observe the struggle in other’s life as well as mine, then at the end of the day we have no option but to carry the burden of this life, as we cannot run away from it. Others are there to help but finally we need to carry the burden on our own. Though we empathize with each other, due to various limitations we are unable to carry other’s burden beyond our limit. As I was reflecting about this reality of life, I wrote this song.

As I got up very early, I was typing the song which I wrote previous night (408), then I remembered the Kural which says: Though fate-divine should make your labour vain, Effort its labour’s sure reward will gain—Kural, 619 {Although it be said that, through fate, it cannot be attained, yet labour, with bodily exertion, will yield its reward} [தெய்வத்தான் ஆகா தெனினும் முயற்சிதன்

There is a Vedic mantra (which I cannot quote immediately) that even god cannot help lazy people. As I was reflecting about it, I wrote this song.

As I become very tired, I went to take some rest after morning meal around 11.30 am (we take our meal at 10.00 am). But I got up by 12.15. But I cannot get up from my bed as I felt very tired. Then unable to sleep I was tossing for some time and manage to sleep till 1.00 pm. After getting up and as I began to read my books, again I felt very sleepy. But as I had other works, I couldn’t go to sleep (giving afternoon coffee to my mother, my regular reading, preparing Tiffin for my mother to give her at 3.00 pm etc.). Then closing the book as I just was relaxing on my chair I said to me in Tamil: ‘if sleep comes better you sleep’. Then inspired by that thought I wrote this song.
Interestingly again I couldn’t sleep due to various reasons (dog menace, other issues etc.) and woke up around 3.00 am. Unable to sleep further I began to work from 4.00 in the computer. So even this song remains merely a longing in my life as I always suffer without proper sleep.
