BT Song 466
Living without the spirit of charity is cruel indeed. But charity is done not to earn merit or feel good, but part of our human nature. Kamban says in his Ramayana (Kamba Ramayana) that there is none to do charity in Ayodhya, because there is none to receive it. So those who are willing to receive do better to those who give to them than the one who does some charity work. I like this famous saying, ‘throwing a bone to the dog is not charity, but sharing in the same bone when you are as hungry as the dog’.
BT Song 466

BT Song 466 Charity
Each one should have a generous heart
And should have compassion on those who are in need
How it is right if those who have refuse to do so
And living without the spirit of charity is cruel indeed
“Requesting to give is mean one
But refusing to give is worse than that”.
And if we forget this ancient (Tamil) proverb
Our life is worse than that.
Those who have plenty are not going to ask
And there is no scope for charity unless someone is there to receive
By giving we are not going to lose anything
And our wealth won’t diminish by giving to the needy
Only by taking away fresh water will come back in the well
Others wise the stagnant water will become bad
If we prune the plant, it will grow again
If we do not prune it will stop giving good yield.
Before the wealth will go automatically
Let us become rich in giving
If we sit and eat (without giving to others) our wealth too will diminish
But if we give to others and enjoy, it will increase
God too will give only to those who give to others
And knowing their need He will give more
He is the One creates and gives, let us realize this
And we are only an instrument in His hand; let us understand this.

BT Song 467
Another song of worshiping the Lord.
BT Song 467

BT Song 467 He become everything
He will be the companion
And protect us in trouble
He will give His shoulders to encourage
To those who get depressed
He knows our heart
And will come to help
And will become the companion
To those who remain truthful
He knows our thoughts
And will revive us
And removing our ‘ego’
Will redeem us
He will come as a relative
And mingle with us with emotion
And enlightening within us
He will reveal the Truth
To those who brag that they will
Understand Him through their intellect
He will remind the limit of intellect
And help them to understand it
And those who are content with bhakti
Only through bhakti
He will bestow mukti to them
He becomes everything
And will give grace to anyone
And won’t discriminate
Between noble and mean
And reaching His feet
Let us receive everything
And praising the Lord
Let us live in unity

BT Song 468
Again, a small fight with God the way, in the name of His will and prerogative makes me dance according to His tunes. Of course, I have no other option to do as per His will, but He should not expect too much from me, beyond what I can do—without having any rehearsal, not knowing the story and co-actors.

BT Song 468 Don’t expect too much
Am I the one who you got for you to play?
Good indeed, tell that first, what else can I say further
Did you create me only for this?
What kind of tamasha is this and what are you doing?
Is this world a stage?
Do I need to act on it for your sake?
I haven’t done any rehearsal also
And even I don’t know what my role is?
If you tell my role
Then I can do something at my best
I don’t know who are going to act along with me
And I don’t know how to act (along with them)
You won’t tell the story in advance
And won’t tell what my role in it
But ask me to get on the stage
And to act without understanding anything
Will any director do like this
Being the God how can you do like this
Though the stage and story is yours
I am the one acting; and why did you forget about it?
Even though you train me to act
Is there no desire (individuality) of my own?
But I act according to your will
But don’t expect too much from me.

BT Song 469
This is one constant problem that I face in my life. Though I try to present the facts as they are, I feel within me that I am not exaggerating it beyond its limit. Though I put a mask before others and pretend to be an innocent person, as my own heart accuses me, there is no escape for me from that. And God also clearly closed the case leaving the verdict with me. Now the ball is in my court.
BT Song 469

BT Song 469 Clear verdict
We blow it out of proportion
And we make it a gossip
As the truth is completely different (within our heart)
We put a mask of a perfect being
If we began to share the facts as they are
Our true intentions will become known
In order to hide the facts, by telling so many others things
We stage a drama for others to appreciate us (about our innocence)
Once our own heart began to accuse us
What reason can we give for that?
As our own shadow is chasing us
Where can we escape from it?
Fortunately, God has kept this heart
As we unable to avoid its voice
He also kept a witness within us
As we cannot change it (as we like)
Where are the words for us to argue?
When the case comes before Him
As the heart gives the witness
Where is the hope to hide?
He left the judgment with us
And clearly closed the case
Will we tell the facts as they are?
Or we will blow it out of proportion

BT Song 470
As I sat for my meditation, I thought about the characteristics of bhakti and bhaktas. As inspiration came, I wrote this song to praise him as a bhakta with my bhakti in him.
BT Song 470

BT Song 470 Definition of bhakti
Come let us all
Praise the Lord
And go unto His feet
By singing His glory
How joyful is it
For the bhaktas to gather
And singing with dance
Is there more joy other than that?
The meaning for bhakti
Is bowing to God
And the meaning of bhakta
Is to sing His praise
The aim of the bhaktas
Is to have satsang
And the mark of satsang
Is rejoice in gathering
All those days in which we don’t praise Him
Is the unborn days
And all those languages in which we cannot praise Him
Is mere waste
What is the use of a heart?
Which does not think about Him?
What is the use of the heart?
Which does not receive Him?
Though many stress come
Every day
What is the use?
Without worshipping Him
What does He expect from us?
Who bestowed everything to us?
He just asks a place
Within our heart
Though He created the entire cosmos
He won’t live in it
Even we build a temple
He will never enter in it
He won’t accept anything other thing
That we are ready to give to Him
And He will never say ‘no
To the bhakta who seeks from Him
Who else will receive?
Such a punya (merit)
Where else one can find
Such a joy other than this
As both the bhakta and the Lord
Live together each day
Who else can attain that nobleness?
Other than them
