BT Songs 476 to 480

BT Song 476

As I got up early in the morning and had enough time to meditate about the Lord, thinking the way He serves me, I wrote this song.

BT Song 476

BT Song 476 Count one by one

If you began to count O my heart

You will praise Him each day

He bestowed so much that

You will thank him so much each day

You live as you wished

You rejoice lack nothing

You see that he fulfils your will

And even after noticing all these, why do you keep quiet?

He come and stands before as if he is indebted to you

Accepting your commands he serves you

As you will become upset if something goes wrong

Understanding your nature he acts

Poor One, though He is God, yet

He serves you each day

After knowing this

If you become very proud, how it can be justified

Removing all the unnecessary thoughts

And giving up all unwanted activities

Thinking the one who is doing only good to you

Sing His praise each day

BT Song 477

This I wrote after reading Kashmir mystic poet Lal Ded (Ranjit Hoskote, I Lalla: Translated from the Kashmiri with an Introduction and Notes, New Delhi, Penguin Books, (2011) paperback edition, 2013, Poem, 11, p. 13

I, Lalla, wore myself down searching for Him

and found a strength after my strength had died.

I came to His threshold but found the door bolted.

I locked that door with my eyes and I looked at Him.

BT Song 477

BT Song 477 We can experience through our senses

I searched everywhere to see you

And I searched even my heart to find you there

Unable to see you anywhere and as I bolt within me

There I found you for me to see

“Searching every place other than where he dwells

People are searching everywhere O wise woman

They don’t know anything O wise woman”

Already the poet* has said this very clearly

Though one sees the one who dwells within

They cannot experience him O wise woman

Unable to realize the one who mingles with us

What is the use of seeing within us?

He will come and dwell within us

And will live with you all the time

Until you understand him through your senses

He will wait for you too

Keeping butter on your hand

Don’t go after seeking clarified butter (ghee)

Leaving the one who dwells within you

Don’t search for him everywhere.

BT Song 478

The cost that we pay to gain a few things for our satisfaction is too heavy. In that process we (I) incur more loss compared to the proportion of the gain.  But I always realize that to grow and sustain in spiritual life, our (my) attitude towards every loss should be positive, as God allowed it for some purpose.  Such understanding helps me overcome the tension that is created by any such loss.

BT Song 478

BT Song 478 Loss

We have to accept certain losses

And should recognize that this is His work

If we began to preserve all that we collected

Even this world is not enough for them

Loss is not the final thing

As we can gain new things through it

When we never invested any capital

What can we count as the real loss?

The lesson that we learnt through the loss

Is precious one

Thinking about that gain we should be peaceful

And what else is the means for us to press forward?

As we lost something

We can empathise with those who have already lost

And to teach this lesson

God too allowed the loss in our lives

The one who redeemed us by losing himself

Gave this teaching for us to follow

And if we began to implement this

What greater gain we can have more than losing something in life.

Mathigiri, 2-8-16, 2.10 pm.

BT Song 479

As I went for my evening walk, I was thinking about the blessed opportunity for me to praise and worship Him at any time.  As I began to reflect on it, I wrote this song which I completed after returning back from my walk.

BT Song 479

BT Song 479 Come to Praise Him

I have done some ‘punya’ (merit)

To sing the glory of the Holy One

And what kind of blessing that I received on this earth

To hail His fame

Who else will get a blessing other than this?

And who will receive that joy other than me

Who can know this other than those experienced this

And who can understand this noble secret

I wrote not because I want to write something

And I didn’t sing just at random

As the joy overflew within me

It need not be communicated through words

I was sitting alone

That time He came to that side

Agreeing with Him I also gave myself to Him

And He mingled within me

How the time went we don’t know

I am unable to communicate it

We don’t want get separated

And we need not tell it to others

But those who understood my nature

Came seeking to know about it

In order to share the joy that I had

I communicated in words about what happened to me

As they too join with me

We received immense joy

If you too want this, come

And joining us worship Him

3-8-16, Mathirigi, 5.45 pm.

BT Song 480 What else I won’t do?

“You say that you are seeing

But, poor one, you are living as a blind

I came to show who cannot see

And to hide who claims that he has seen.

I came to judge

And to separate the good from the bad

Even after telling all these, you don’t understand

And never repented even after I accomplished so many things.

I came to show light to the blind

And shared about dharma to all the unrighteous

Even after I came to show the light

If you continue to live in darkness; what can I do?

When I do good to you

You don’t understand

When all the evils come together

Where is the chance for you to repent?

As I give mukti even to the sinners

What else I won’t do for a bhakta

And remove the blindness of sin

And receive jnana through bhakti

Mathirigi, 5-8-16, 1.50.pm, John. 9:39-41

As I was reading my regular Muktivedic reading, based on Jn. 9:39-41 I wrote this song.

BT Song 480
