As my Mami (my mother’s sister-in-law, who is 95) came to stay with us, I often listened to their talk in which they never became tired of sharing the same old struggles in life which they both underwent in the past and are still carrying in their old age. Both their lives are remarkable considering the way they served their best to bring up their children and take care of their relatives. Though temperamentally women sometimes remain intolerant (particularly mother-in-law—daughter-in-law relationship with few exceptions), still they have immense patience in life. They seek more security than mere pleasure in life.
Somewhere I read that ‘while men seek pleasure women seek pleasure plus security’. A woman is an all rounder. She keeps an eye on everyone and everything in life. Whereas man is more task oriented and focused on the current task than remain an all rounder.
For example when a man eats he only thinks about the taste of the food. Whereas a woman thinks about both the taste and health of others. This you can see when she feeds her child who refuses to eat her food (which the husband has to eat silently without passing any comment) the mother will do all kinds of gymnastics to feed her child. Of course it is completely a different matter that men are the best cooks as we have Nala(n) and Bhima(n) as the outstanding examples for this. Unlike men (cooks) who can prepare healthy and tasty food, women can prepare either tasty food or healthy food. They cannot strike a balance between two contradictory values in life as it is against their religion. However she cooks, she keeps the health of the family members, particularly as a mother. But when the same healthy food is served to the husband its taste will change according to the mood of both.
Just observe the life of any woman in your life. You will be surprised to note that she alone lives a complete life in which man only partially takes part and naturally never lives a complete life. No doubt a woman alone makes a man complete and perfect. But we men rarely realize this or recognize it. That is why she has not only patience but has to carry our burden along with her own from womb to grave. Women are indeed GREAT.
