Secular Song 601
Another song not paying a tribute to MSS amma [see song 600] but to glorify her contribution to Carnatic music. She not only left her own mark on every Kriti she rendered but once we listened to her, then when another artist performs the same Kriti, it looks that it is not the same. She even enhanced each Kriti by singing in her own remarkable style. I would call her style of music as Amma Garana. After listening to one such consort by her, unable to come out from its influence I wrote this song. If not everyday, at least I should listen to her music once a week.
At the end I say that she should bestow her grace for me to listen to her voice often. This does not mean that I equate her with God. At the same time, this is the Indian tradition deifying all those who we venerate and seek her blessings even after they have passed.
Secular Song 601
Secular Song 601 To listen to your voice
Amma when I listen to your voice
All the five senses forgetting themselves
As my atman also merge within you
And as I see God directly
My body become stand still
Both eyes pour down tears
My heart goes beyond
The stages of divine bliss
Like this I should
Listen to your voice
At least once in a day
And you should bestow
Your grace taking
Pity upon this poor one.

Secular Song 602
I agree with many that it is difficult to understand my writings. I am unable to communicate my thoughts and experience not only in any language but even unable to find proper words to communicate. The same is true for me also. I write, think and do. But when I reflect back, I realise that many things [or most of the things] I do, do not make sense to me. Then what to say about others. Of course they can avoid reading all my writings. But some find it difficult to escape from my actions as their life is linked or affected by it.
Secular Song 602

Secular Song 602 Kindly bear with me
I clearly understand that
I am doing without understanding
And babbling a lot
Without clarity
Then I asked few
What does it mean to
Talk with
Clear understanding
‘How much we explain about
“How to talk sensibly”
Till the end it won’t
Be clear to you’, they said.
As I understood this
Very clearly, I remain
Without understanding
As they told
Therefore, there is
No need for me
To communicate
In a proper way
Once this understanding
Has come, there is no need
To worry about
Whatever I might say
Therefore, there is no use
In blaming me further
By those who
Happens to read this also
When my talking
Is like this
What to say
About my actions
One way it is good
To act without understanding
If I do anything with clear understanding
Then it ends up with much error
Understanding through
The experience after performance
Then doing works
Alone is good
Babbling without understanding
And acting similarly
Then learning through
That experience
I am trying to do
Many things now
Till that time, I request you to
Kindly bear with me.

Secular Song 603
Since I came here, [July 1st] from July 17th I read so many books on various subjects: biography, theology, history, anthropology, sociology, spirituality, religion, poems etc etc.@ As per my habit I also took lots of notes from them. This morning when I went for my walk, I started to reflect on the subject they all discussed. The overall impression that I got is this: almost all of them, in one way or another, implicitly or explicitly suggested some solutions to every area of life. Though they never insisted that, ‘my way is high way’, as they know well that, now in 21st century, unlike the authoritarian democracy (with their money power or fundamentalism) or non-democratic authoritarianism (muscle power in Communism) as they cannot push their ideology on anyone, one can infer their suggestions that, at least if you attempt my method, there is some hope for you to find the solutions for various issues related to life.
But what is the solution for life is my question again and again. And I live with the conviction that there is no point in running pillar to post chasing, like a street dog, every car without any aim or purpose. At the same time, we cannot invent our own new way as we are caught in the prison of collective unconscious; superconscious, inner conscious, subconscious etc. etc. We can not only articulate our thoughts through those collective consciousness but can even experience it. There is no point of ‘going beyond’, as even this ‘going beyond’ is also part of our own collective consciousness. So try one path and if you are satisfied that this will help me to live, if not a perfect life, at least a relatively peaceful life with me and with others, then go for it. The result is this song.
@I enjoyed reading so many precious books. So far I read: Already I read, wings of fire by Dr. Kalam, Misquoting Jusus, Bart D. Ehrman, Gandhi before India by Guha, Daughter of midnight by Arun Gandhi, Dravidian philosophy by Baskara Doss, Turning hurt into Halos, biography on Martin Luther king, Mandela, seevaha sinthamani, Neethi nool, Nanneri, Mudurai, in Tamil. Biography of Neelakanda Brahmachary, Subramanya Siva, V.O.C. Iyer, in Tamil,
At present reading: A History of Celibacy (excellent book); Our Religions (on Islam I completed), The Marriage of East and West (Griffith); A.P.J Abdul Kalam with Arun Tiwari, Transcendence: My Spiritual Experiences with Pramukh Swamiji, (will complete reading today). And selected a few more precious books to read before I leave this ashram

Secular Song 603 Which is the WAY
If we know for sure
What is the purpose of life
Surely, we can
Live accordingly
Though we know
For sure that
One day we have to go
If we live like this, how is it possible
Each one told
What they knew
By living
In their own ways
But there is no use
In living in that way
To know for us
Which one is correct
But there is no choice
For us to start
Our own way
To know that
As we were
Prisoned by others’ thought
There is no means
For us to escape
First we should
Try to escape
Using the key
That they hold
Then going in
Their way
We should try to
Personally experience it
Then thinking
By sitting calmly
To know
Which one is good for us
We alone should
Finalize which
One is
Best for us
Leaving that
Till the end of our life
Living going
In so many ways
Unable to know
The purpose of our coming
Not knowing for sure
Where we will be gone
Seeking so many ways
Without having one way clearly
We will complete this life
Living like this always

Secular Song 604
We often hear the slogan, ‘I need a break’, when someone feels burnout. Does nature have this feeling? I saw one peacock shedding its feathers every day little by little. I also collected most of them for my ashram. This evening when I saw the only one long feather left on its body and a new one slowly coming out, I thought about this process in nature. Then superimposing my own view I wrote this song in my mind and completed it when I returned back to my room. In case if you read this, then now this song is your burden and not mine.
Secular Song 604

Secular Song 604 Burden
How much
Looks beautiful
Feathers indeed is a burden
To the peacock
Therefore, once in a year
Shedding all of them
Peacock will
Reduce its burden
Only when it
Again come
Then alone it will realize
Its importance
Then it will understand
The need of it
To dance to
Attract the hen
Not understanding
The burden of male peacock
The Hen will roam
Not minding about it
Yet after carrying
The egg in its woumb
And hatch them
And bring chicks
Then both of them
Will understand
Each other’s burden
Then will carry it together
They will never question
Why this law is
Created by
The nature
Living naturally
And living accordingly
Multiplying its species
They will accomplish their task
I don’t know for sure
Whether peacock has
This kind of
Burden or not
How much I superimpose
My burden on them
They are not
Going to understand it
Similarly, when
Nature also lives
Without knowing any burden
With its own nature
Then ‘Why this burden’
And such question
Has it come from where?
Only to human beings
Nature does not have
Any answer for this
There is no use
In asking God about it
When he is lamenting
Thinking that
By creating us
He added new burden to him
If we ask him
To unload our burden
Where he could find
Answer for us
Somehow, I wrote
These lines
Only to
Unload my burden
“carrying unnecessary burden
On you, you also
Write songs like this
Unnecessarily.
As both nature and God
Cannot unload your burden”
As they have
Said like this
Stopping here
Unloading my burden
I loaded this
On those who read this

Secular Song 605
When I received the following short poem from another person, I thought why all the time we have only negative thoughts about life. Why not think positively, as the train helps the standard flowers to move away with laughter. And the result is my next song that I sent to him.
Secular Song 605
நெடுந்தொடர் வண்டி—forwarded short poem by someone else.
The train might have crossed
Only with a heavy heart
Over the line on which
Fallen flowers remained.
Secular Song 605
