BT Song 1081 to 1085

BT Song 1081

Though God can listen to complaints and lamentations, He cannot unload the burden which I carry unnecessarily due to my imagination, nor remove those shortcomings in life that aren’t even there. This kind of lamentation about imagined burdens is nothing but a kind of sickness. I know that clearly, and only God alone can cure it.

BT Song 1081 It is a Sickness

1

How shall I express

These grudges inside?

What words to choose,

Which feelings to hide?

It’s a burden I carry,

Too hard to explain.

How do I speak,

And who’ll ease my pain?

2

None but you

Will lend me an ear,

Though others might listen,

They can’t come near.

I lack the words

To share what’s within,

So there’s no one

Who truly understands my sin.

3

There’s nothing new

For me to reveal,

Though many times

My sorrow I’d kneel.

You weren’t listening,

I know the cause,

Yet in my heart,

There’s no change, no pause.

4

Complaints I bring

Of faults not there,

Bearing weights

That lead nowhere.

When I come to you

With my lament,

How can you lift

This burden I’ve sent?

5

I must change this heart

That cries in vain,

I must see

It brings me pain.

First, I must know

This is a sickness,

And you must give

A cure for this weakness.

Mathigiri, 6-04-2019, 11.10

BT Song 1081 It is a Sickness

1

How to speak about

My inner grudges

What to say

Which one is it?

As it becomes a burden

Which I cannot understand

How to speak about it

And to whom shall I share?

2

There is none

Other than you to listen

Even if others listen

They cannot understand it

I don’t have the language

To share about it

Therefore there is

None to understand it

3

There is nothing to say

Anything new

Though I have lamented about it many times

You were not listening to me

Though I know the

Reason for it

There is no change

Within me

4

Telling many complaints

About shortcomings which are not there

Carrying unnecessary burdens

In vain

When I come and

Lament to you

Where is the means for you

To unload that burden?

5

I should change this heart

Which laments unnecessarily

I should realize that

It is not good for me

First I should understand that

This is a sickness

You should give medicine

To this sickness

BT Song 1082

For the past week, I haven’t been able to sleep properly. Almost every night, I wake up around 2:00 AM, even though I go to bed around 11:50 PM. There’s also no proper rest during the day. So I become very physically tired, and my mind refuses to concentrate on anything. Last night, after reading Muktiveda, unable to read my books, I sat quietly without even meditating. After a few minutes, as inspiration came, I wrote this song.

BT Song 1082 Inner Communication

1

Though my body tires,

And my mind grows weak,

My spirit finds strength

In the bond we seek.

2

Though the world wears me down

With its endless strife,

With your help, my Lord,

I can conquer life.

3

No matter the weakness

That enters my days,

With the strength you give,

I’ll find my ways.

4

Despite my flaws,

And all my wrongs,

Your completeness, Lord,

Makes me strong.

5

However life unfolds,

Day by day,

In every moment,

I’ll see your grace, I pray.

6

You who reign over me,

Guide my steps true,

Oh my Lord, forever,

I’ll follow you.

7

In this life you gave,

So full of beauty,

With devotion deep,

I’ll keep your feet close to me.

8

Praising you, calling,

Oh Father, Oh Mother dear,

Singing songs of joy,

With you ever near.

9

Thankful for the life

You’ve given me,

In thought and heart,

In fellowship with thee.

10

Blessed to live,

Forever in your light,

I’ll celebrate you,

Every day and night.

Mathigiri, 8-4-2019, 10.30 p.m.

BT Song 1082 Inner Communication

1

Though I become tired

Both in body and mind

My spirit will have

Communication with you

2

Though I become tired

By struggling with the world

I can overcome it

With your help

3

Whatever kind of weakness

Might come in my life

I should live with the

Strength given by you

4

Though I have

Many shortcomings

I should be emancipated

By your completeness

5

However everyday

Life moves

I should see your grace

In it

6

You who over lorded me

Lead me in it

Oh my Lord, I should

Follow you

7

In this beautiful life

Which you bestowed

Filled with bhakti

Taking your feet on my head

8

Praising you, calling

Oh my Father, Oh my Mother

Singing songs

Overcome by joy

9

Thanking for the life

Which you gave to me

Both in thought and heart

Having fellowship with you

10

Blessing you to live

Forever and ever

I should celebrate

You every day

BT Song 1083

For me and my mother, life follows a routine. There is no change except for advancing age and the problems related to old age. Interestingly, what she faces in her advanced age, I am facing now in mine. But both of us are lucky to have a better life compared to many other elderly people. We eat the same food, read books, do cross-stitch work—she watches serials, and I watch the news. And the grace of God remains unchanging. As I contemplated this, I told the Lord that His unchanging grace is sufficient, whatever changes may come in life.

BT Song 1083 Unchanging Grace

1

There is no change

In this life I lead,

And there is no need

For changes indeed.

2

It is enough

For life to flow this way,

For this, my Lord,

I need your grace each day.

3

Many changes

In this world appear,

As many needs

In life draw near.

4

Though we’ve adjusted

And changed our course,

In the end,

They bring no real force.

5

We alter our food,

From fancy to plain,

In the end, simple meals

Ease our hunger’s pain.

6

Though news swirls around,

In endless flight,

Proper thinking

Is wisdom’s light.

7

Similarly, what

The soul seeks out,

Oh my Lord,

Is your grace, no doubt.

8

When I receive

Only that, my Lord,

I find no change,

In your steadfast word.

9

Though many changes

Sweep through this world’s face,

I hold onto

Your unchanging grace.

10

Though life may shift

In countless ways,

I’ll live in you,

Unchanged, all my days.

Mathigiri, 10-04-2019, 10.55 p.m.

BT Song 1083 Unchanging Grace

1

There is no change

In this life

There is no need

For any change in life

2

It is enough

If the life goes like this

For this

I need your grace

3

Several changes

Have come in this world

As many needs

Came in life

4

Though we also

Changed accordingly

There is no use

In them

5

Though we might bring

Many changes in food

Finally, simple food

Is enough for hunger

6

Though many news

Are going around

Proper thinking is

The requirement of buddhi

7

Similarly what

The atman searches for

Oh my Lord

Is only your grace

8

When I

Receive only that

Oh my Lord

I find no change in it

9

How many changes

Might come in this world

Receiving your

Unchanging grace

10

Though many

Changes might come in my life

I should live in you

Without any change

BT Song 1084

After reading my regular portions from Muktiveda, when I closed it, I said to the Lord the first line of this song in Tamil. I didn’t pray but just spoke those words to Him. This kind of small conversation I often have with Him. Then continuing, I said, “Next, I know only emptiness.” As inspiration came, I wrote this song, seeing these as simple means to receive the grace of God.

BT Song 1084 The Way to Receive Grace

1

What seems impossible

Becomes possible for me,

In my emptiness,

Your grace I see.

2

For I know only

Your boundless grace,

And I’ve found the path

To seek your embrace.

3

I come to your feet

With humility deep,

Taking refuge,

In your love I keep.

4

I live by doing

All that you ask,

In every task,

Your grace is my task.

5

Understanding now

My own emptiness,

I see my need,

For your endlessness.

6

With humility profound,

In my heart’s embrace,

I receive your grace,

And find my place.

7

To come empty before you,

Is a gift I cherish true,

Living with innocence,

Brings me closer to you.

8

For your grace to fill me whole,

Emptiness within my soul,

In innocence I find,

Your grace so kind.

9

No better, simpler way,

To receive your grace each day,

Than to humbly live,

In your love I give.

10

Realizing this truth,

Living in faith’s proof,

I receive your grace,

At your feet, my place.

Mathigiri, 13-4-2019, 10.30 p.m.

BT Song 1084 The Way to Receive Grace

1

Impossible is

Only possible for me

I know only

Emptiness in me

2

But I know

Only your grace

I know the way

To receive it

3

Coming to your feet

With much humility and worshiping you

Taking refuge

At your feet

4

Living by

Doing all the errands you give

I will receive grace

Thinking only of you

5

Realizing both

Impossibility and emptiness

Then understanding my

Condition well

6

Having much

Humility in my heart

I will receive grace

By giving me

7

It is good to come

Empty before you

It is better to live

With much innocence

8

For your grace to fill full measure

Emptiness is essential within me

For that I should

Be very innocent

9

There is no

Better and simpler way

Than this to

Receive the unparalleled grace

10

Realizing this

And living accordingly

I will receive grace

By worshiping your feet

Mathigiri, 13-4-2019, 10.30 p.m.

BT Song 1085

This evening, during my walk, I called one Youth in our neighborhood  and asked him to help a boy in our neighborhood who will complete his studies this month. I asked the Youth to give him his extra two-wheeler and also teach him driving a car. I also requested him to assist the boy in finding a job in his company. After explaining all this, I told him in Tamil that we should always extend a helping hand to others when such opportunities arise in our lives. We must seek out and help others. If it’s not possible, whenever God sends an opportunity our way, we should never miss it. Later that night, as I reflected on my conversation with him, I told the Lord the first line of this song in Tamil. Indeed, He stretched out His hand to uplift me when I was at the lowest point in my life. It was like rescuing someone from a deep pit with sinking mud. As I continued to contemplate the ways the Lord had come to rescue me, recalling several such incidents in my life, I wrote this song as my prayer for today.

BT Song 1085 You Uplifted Me

1

You reached out your hand,

Lifting me up high,

Guiding me along,

On your path, I rely.

With your watchful gaze,

You’ve shielded me from harm,

You remain my steadfast guide,

Through life’s every storm.

2

Once crippled, I stumbled,

Lost and alone I roamed,

Searching for a way,

Tired, no path I owned.

No cure in sight,

No strength left to walk,

No guide to lead me,

Lost in life’s dark talk.

3

Thinking none could save me,

Unaware of my need,

Living as I pleased,

Wandering in my heed.

Following my mind’s call,

Wandering without aim,

Lost in life’s thrall,

Questioning my very claim.

4

Like a lifeless wanderer,

Burdened by my frame,

Without purpose,

Life seemed so tame.

Why was I born,

In this futile strife?

When would I depart,

From this fleeting life?

5

You sought after me,

Held my hand so tight,

Said, “Follow me,”

In your guiding light.

Unable to let go,

Weakness pulled me down,

You lifted me up,

With love that knows no frown.

6

Then I saw the truth,

Hidden from my view,

Found my purpose,

In serving you anew.

Now I am your servant,

Devoted every day,

Living for your will,

In every possible way.

Mathigiri, 13-4-2019, 11.45 p.m.

BT Song 1085 You Uplifted Me

1

By stretching your hand

You uplifted me

By holding my hand

You led me on your path

Keeping your eyes on me

You protected me so far

You remain a companion

For me all through my life

2

I remained crippled

I walked stumbling

I roamed searching for the way

I became tired without any companion

Without any means to be cured

Without strength to walk

Without anyone to guide me

I got lost in life

3

Thinking that

There is none to redeem me

Without any need

To be redeemed

I lived

As per my wish

I wandered

As my buddhi guided me

4

Like a dead man walking

Body becoming a burden

Without having

Any aim in life

I lived

With this thought:

Why was I born unnecessarily?

When will I go from here?

5

Coming seeking after me

You held my hand

Firmly by saying

‘Follow me’

Unable to forsake your hands

Unable to follow you

When I fell down with weakness

You carried me on your shoulders

6

Then I understood the

Truth which remained hidden

Therefore I attained

The purpose of my birth

Then I became

Your slave

Therefore I live

For you each day

Mathigiri, 13-4-2019, 11.45 p.m.

The follBT Song 1081

1

6
