Without any reason, from the morning, the first line of this song [BT Song 1126] was echoing in my mind. I was neither thinking nor praying to the Lord. As usual, I was busy with my regular domestic work, and there was no time for that. At night, after my regular reading, when I sat with a relaxed spirit (reading is also a busy activity for the mind), suddenly the same line began to echo in my mind again. Then, as the inspiration compelled me, I immediately wrote this song within a few minutes as the words were flowing without any break.
I know this will be another one of my controversial songs. Actually, I thought of giving it the title “Heretic or Mystic.” If this song goes against one’s theology, then they can call it “heretic.” Or if it goes beyond any theology, one can call it “mystic.” But the best way to experience the spirit of the song is to go beyond any theology. Sometimes it is better for our devotion to not try to understand but only to experience it in the presence of the Lord.
Though in human relationships one can play many roles, each relationship is still unique in itself. For example, a wife can also be a mother. But a mother can never be a wife. The same is the case with all relationships. Whereas God can become all kinds of relationships in a devotee’s life, at the same time, He can transcend and remain as He is without having any kind of relationship with a devotee. God, who declared that “I am who I am,” neither has a name, form, nor relationship. At the same time, He can be anything in a devotee’s life. Having this kind of complex theology in His relationship with the world and soul, it is better to worship God as He is.
