BT Song
Though I am not a theologian (thank God for that. Already I am a confused person. And if I were a theologian, then what would be my condition?), I am a great fan of theology. I strongly feel that we need theology to have a proper understanding of (any) Scripture. At the same time, I am convinced that theology is not the only way to understand Scripture. Theology is an ongoing process that should help us to understand the mind of God according to our present needs. Every theology developed only in this way. In the early Mandali, it was Greek philosophy that influenced and shaped the theology; then in the Roman world, it was shaped by its culture and tradition. When the gospel went to Europe, it was affected by its cultures and traditions. During the Enlightenment period, theology took on a different shape. And in the present postmodern phenomenon, it is under great pressure to address contemporary needs. Every church denomination and various philosophies in Hinduism clearly demonstrate this. But when we try to develop any theology outside the foundation on which it should stand, then that same theology will become a trap and will confuse us more than guide us clearly.
As I was reading another new interpretation of the atonement of the Lord, reflecting about it, I wrote this song.
BT Song – Theology (Classic English Style)
1
Thinking now it clear appears,
New explanations bright.
If these not clear to ears,
What clarity finds light?
2
If given words obscure,
What now seems sure to me?
Puzzled mind must endure,
What truth can truly be.
3
All theologies proclaim,
Confuse the thoughtful mind.
To clarity we lay our claim,
Theology set aside, refined.
4
To clear the mind’s own haze,
Theology must retreat.
Ways to understand, many ways,
Veda’s wisdom we must meet.
5
Theology, a way to see,
Veda’s ancient art.
Understanding thus, our plea,
Veda’s essence to impart.
6
Theology not Veda’s base,
Nor Veda’s final end.
Foundations clear in proper place,
Both as one, they blend.
7
To grasp the Veda’s deep,
Theology holds the key.
Practicing what we keep,
Foundation firm must be.
8
Without foundation’s stead,
Theology stands weak.
Mere business, efforts spread,
Empty words we speak.
9
What then is this base?
Why now discuss its place?
Unknown, what use embrace?
Questioned without grace.
10
To truly know the Veda’s truth,
Theology’s guidance sought.
Foundation known, uncouth,
Answers find their lot.
11
Learning only theology’s name,
Without base to support,
Clarity that once became,
In vain, it will abort.
12
Then it becomes mere trade,
Driven by gain and greed.
Without foundation laid,
Empty ventures, indeed.
13
What then is this base,
You ask with fleeting grace?
Unknown, what’s the use,
In this futile chase?
14
If unknown, why now implore?
Without foundation’s core,
Questions lost in endless lore,
Truth we seek, forevermore.

BT Song – Theology
1
Thinking it’s now clear,
New explanations arise.
If these aren’t clear,
What’s clear to our eyes?
2
If explanations are unclear,
What becomes clear to me?
It remains a puzzle,
What clarity will be.
3
All theologies do the same,
They confuse the mind.
To make our minds clear,
Leave theology behind.
4
To clear our minds,
We must set theology aside.
There are many ways
To understand Veda with pride.
5
Theology is one way
To understand Veda’s art.
When we grasp this well,
Veda’s meaning will start.
6
Theology isn’t Veda’s base,
And Veda isn’t theology’s end.
When we know the foundation,
Both clearly blend.
7
To truly know the Veda,
Theology is key.
To practice what we learn,
We need a firm base, you see.
8
Without the foundation,
Theology alone is weak.
It becomes mere business,
Seeking profit as its peak.
9
What is this foundation?
Why speak of it now?
If you haven’t known it,
Why ask me how?
10
To know Veda well,
Theology is a part.
Yet without the foundation,
It’s a puzzle from the start.
11
Learning theology alone,
Without a firm base,
Leaves what’s clear,
In a useless space.
12
Then it becomes business,
Driven by profit and gain.
Without a true foundation,
It’s all in vain.
13
What is this foundation,
You may ask me now?
If you don’t know it,
Why ask me how?
14
If you’ve never known it,
What’s the use of it now?
Without the true base,
It’s just a question of how.

BT Song 1152
There never comes the question between Bhagavan and bhakta of who will blink first. As every saving action is taken by God first, when it comes to taking some crucial decision, He alone should reveal His mind to us first. Based on my past experience, I can say with much conviction that when I refuse to go according to His will, God will first push, then whip, and finally kick me to come out of any sentimental attachment that will prevent me from taking that decision. Unlike us (or me), God never acts based on sentiment. He keeps only His will and purpose for us and also keeps the larger interest of His kingdom. When our attachment to any ideology, place, person, or any other thing based on our sentiment prevents us from taking that decision, then God will create the circumstances in such a way that we will be compelled to take that decision which goes against our sentiment. As I have to make some decisions because my mother’s health is not allowing me to take care of her alone, I began to pray to God to reveal His will for me in this. On December 1st, she fell down and hurt her head and shoulder. Fortunately, no bone was broken, but I struggled a lot to take care of her for two days without much sleep and rest, as I had to take her to the bathroom every two hours, both day and night. She refuses to use a diaper. As there is no other woman here to help, I have to do everything for her. I cannot make any decisions on my own as my brother also has responsibilities. So when I began to pray to God to show me the clear answer, and as there was no answer from God about taking some decision in my responsibility to take care of my mother, out of frustration, I began to argue with Him, and the result is this song. What alternative arrangement is He going to make for me to take care of my mother? Of course, I have to stay with her until the end. But where and how? Going to the old age home in Kumbakonam is the final option according to my brother—which I don’t like. I prefer to stay here, but I cannot take care of my mother alone. Then what is God’s answer to this dilemma?
BT Song 1152 – Final Weapon
1
To ask of you holds little worth,
Unless you choose to impart.
You know my thoughts, my dearth,
Yet silence grips my heart.
2
It seems unjust, I find,
To withhold what I yearn.
Though reasons are kind,
My spirit begins to churn.
3
As you are divine and high,
I can only beg and plea.
Yet, you hear, but deny,
Leaving my soul in plea.
4
Thus, no choice I have but to wield,
The final weapon in this plight.
Innocence upheld, my shield,
In your presence, what is right.
5
Let us settle this tonight,
And resolve our silent feud.
Is it wise to remain out of sight,
Or is speaking now the need?
6
You know my heart, you know my way,
Tell me the course to take.
To end this night or forever stray,
Guide me, for my own sake.
7
Knowing me as you do,
Is silence the prudent path?
Or should I pursue,
Resolution to end this wrath?
8
Give me the means, show me how,
To wield this weapon true.
Decision final, here and now,
Help me, guide me through.
9
If the answer lies within,
Why keep it from my plea?
Share it now, let truth begin,
In your grace, set me free.
10
Lost without your guiding light,
I wander in the dark.
Help me see clear, in your sight,
Restore my faith, my mark.
11
I called upon you in trust,
To live each day as new.
Guided by your word, I must,
Find solace, in what is true.
12
Night falls upon our meeting place,
Rest now, and speak with grace.
If I wake, I’ll seek your face,
In the light of morning’s embrace.

BT Song 1152 – Final Weapon
1
There’s no point in asking you,
Unless you come and tell.
You know my questions well,
Yet you keep me in this spell.
2
It’s not right, I feel,
To withhold what I seek.
Even if your reason is clear,
It leaves me feeling weak.
3
As you are God,
I can’t command or plead.
I beg, but still,
You don’t meet my need.
4
So, no choice remains,
But to take my final stand.
You know I’m blameless,
For this demand.
5
Better for us both,
To decide right now.
Is it good for you
To keep silent somehow?
6
Please tell who first
Gave up their place.
Then guide me on how
To end this chase.
7
Knowing my nature,
Is it wise to stay silent?
Better to tell me,
So we avoid being violent.
8
Then tell me the way,
I can take the final step.
Help me decide,
And take this final rep.
9
If you know the answer,
Why keep it inside?
Share it with me,
Don’t let it hide.
10
Without your guidance,
I feel so lost.
Help me see clearly,
No matter the cost.
11
I called out to you,
To live day by day.
So far, I’ve followed,
Your guiding way.
12
Rest of the night,
I have to spend.
If I wake up,
I’ll continue again.

BT Song 1153
Some kind of contentment filled my heart as I sat for my meditation. Thinking about the grace of God, which bestows so many blessings, I wrote this song to thank the Lord for that.
BT Song 1153 – Heart is Full
Verse 1
I sought your protection,
Begging you to remove my strife.
Grateful for your grace,
I thanked you for my life.
I must sing your praises,
All day, not just on pages.
My heart should sing,
Filling life’s stages.
Verse 2
The blessings I received,
Are countless and true.
How can I thank you enough,
For all that you do?
Standing in your path,
Every day of my life,
What else can I do,
But praise you in this strife?
Verse 3
You gave me the chance,
To think of you always.
Dwelling in my heart,
You never part ways.
Rejoicing in our bond,
Living with you every day.
I found joy and peace,
As my heart sways.
Verse 4
Your grace stays with me,
In every moment of need.
I sing your praises,
And follow your lead.
Not just letters on pages,
But with heart and soul,
I worship you completely,
Making my life whole.
Verse 5
Thankful for your protection,
Grateful for your care.
In every breath I take,
I feel you there.
Living with your guidance,
My heart is full of song.
With you by my side,
I know where I belong.

BT Song 1154
I always plan my next day before I go to bed. Sometimes, I even plan for the day after tomorrow. This I inherited from my father. If he had to go out for his work, he would pack his things and keep them ready one week before and keep his bag in the veranda two days before. My mother used to tease him by saying, ‘Go and sit in the railway station two days before.’ Particularly, what to cook and when to do the sweeping, mopping, and washing clothes, etc. So when I thanked the Lord for a wonderful day, remembering my mother’s rebuke to my father, I also teased the Lord, better tell me what His plan for me for tomorrow is. And as my imagination soared high, I wrote this song of dialogue between me and the Lord.
BT Song 1154 – Again I Will Come Back
Verse 1
You helped me live today,
Fulfilling all my needs.
I prepare for tomorrow,
To you, my heart pleads.
Verse 2
You smiled and said,
“Let’s talk tomorrow.”
I asked for guidance,
To avoid any sorrow.
Verse 3
“It’s better if you tell me,
So I can prepare.”
“What kind of preparations?”
You asked with care.
Verse 4
“In every way,” I replied,
To avoid any mistake.
You laughed loudly,
“Is it so?” you spake.
Verse 5
“I told you yesterday,
But you alone forgot.”
However you prepare,
Who holds the lot?
Verse 6
I called you to live
One day at a time.
So far, I’ve followed
Your guidance, sublime.
Verse 7
The rest of the night,
You have to spend.
Why did you forget?
Tell me, my friend.
Verse 8
Struggle to sleep,
Once you’re done, come back.
I’ll tell you more,
Once you’re on track.
Verse 9
Silently, I went to bed,
Resting my case.
If I wake again,
I’ll continue this race.
Verse 10
If I am gone,
In my sleep tonight,
I’ll thank you still,
For your peaceful light.
Verse 11
If I come back again,
To live another day,
I’ll continue to write,
In your guidance, stay.
Verse 12
Your help each day
Fulfills all my needs.
Preparing for tomorrow,
To you, my heart pleads.
Verse 13
You smile and say,
“Let’s talk again tomorrow.”
I trust in your word,
Dispelling all my sorrow.

BT Song 1154 – Again I Will Come Back
1
You’ve sustained me through this day,
Meeting each of my needs.
Preparing for tomorrow’s way,
I turn to you for leads.
2
You smiled, “Let’s talk another day.”
I asked to plan ahead,
“Can you guide me in some way?”
You chuckled as I pled.
3
“I mentioned it before,” you say,
“But you’ve forgotten, friend.”
Yet, you know I’ll find a way,
As this day I will spend.
4
I called to live day by day,
By your guidance I abide.
Tonight, as the hours stray,
In your peace, I reside.
5
Now, the night ahead we face,
Rest as the hours blend.
If I wake in the morning’s grace,
With you, my journey will extend.
6
In my sleep, I’ll rest and pray,
Thankful for each day’s flight.
If I return to another day,
I’ll continue in your light.
7
You’ve provided for me today,
Fulfilled my every need.
Preparing for tomorrow’s way,
I turn to you, indeed.
8
You smiled and said, “Let’s talk tomorrow,”
As I asked for guidance clear.
I trust in your word, not sorrow,
To guide me, bring me near.
9
You know my nature, my every play,
So tell me the path to choose.
To end this night or stay,
In your wisdom, I won’t lose.
10
If you know what lies ahead,
Why keep it from my sight?
Share with me, so I’m not misled,
In your grace, set me right.
11
Lost in darkness, I’ve often tread,
But with you, I find my way.
Guide me through each day’s thread,
With you, I’ll never stray.
12
Now, as night falls on this place,
I’ll rest and wait to see.
If I wake, in your loving embrace,
My journey, with you, will be.
13
If in sleep, my soul takes flight,
I’ll thank you for the day.
If I wake to morning’s light,
I’ll continue in your way.

BT Song 1155
Old age is indeed a burden for all. But for a bhakta, it is an opportunity to spend more time with the Lord. When I toss on my bed without sleep, I use the time to talk more with the Lord about various things. We even debate theological issues. I use the time also to argue with Him. So while old age sets many restrictions, it also gives more opportunity to the heart to enjoy its time with God.
BT Song 1155 Why this Old Age?
Unless Thou showest mercy,
I cannot endure.
Unless Thou providest,
I find no solace
In this earthly life I traverse.
Unless Thou drawest near,
I cannot endure.
Like a vessel
Tossed upon the sea,
Lost in direction,
Like a beacon
On distant shores,
Unless Thy hand extendeth,
I reach not the shore.
In old age, where body
And mind weaken,
Each day an era feels.
Unless Thou shieldest me,
Every moment remaining,
E’en a day will not pass
On this earthly plane.
Why didst Thou ordain
Youth and age’s stages
For this mortal frame?
Why embed
This in nature,
For the body to bear
Its own weight?
From youth’s dawn
To old age’s dusk,
Countless queries arise,
Yet, despite
Worldly answers abound,
My heart
Agrees not.
To converse
And commune with Thee,
A rare chance
Thou bestowed.
Didst Thou grant
This old age,
Whatever its reason?
However it unfolds,
Thou granted the gift
To witness this phase.
Thus, for life’s remainder,
Grant me Thy grace
To dwell in Thee,
In eternal embrace.
