BT Song 1606

As I begin to face some health issues, though I manage alone without much help from others, it still limits several of my sadhana and other activities, like reading and writing. I realized that the time has come for me to prepare for the challenges of old age, where I might become more limited physically. Yet, my deepest longing is that my sadhana and devotion to the Lord remain steadfast, regardless of conditions and situations.

BT Song 1606: Preparation is Necessary

Simple English

One must always be

Prepared for everything

To ensure you

Stay within me forever

The maturity to

Accept everything

Must come within you

And continue to live within

When the body weakens

And the vision dims

When weariness sets in

You must still endure

The unyielding mind

The unwavering devotion

The clear thoughts

Must remain with you

For all things, one must be prepared,

This preparation must endure,

To ensure your presence within me forever.

The maturity to accept all matters

Must arise within,

And continue to dwell

In my heart and soul.

When the body weakens,

And the eyes grow dim,

Even when fatigue overtakes me,

Your strength must keep me steadfast.

An unwavering mind,

Unfaltering devotion,

And a clear intellect,

Often, I feel that I have spent my life up until now without truly understanding life, myself, or others. Because of this, I see little reason to continue living to seek further understanding. I find comfort in knowing that God understands me better than I understand myself or Him. With this realization, there seems to be no point in delaying my departure from this earth, as each day feels like a burden to the earth and a waste of resources for others.

Simple English

You made me realize

You made me understand

That I must know myself,

And now you have given me

The time to do so.

Though I have known you

To a great extent,

That I still do not know myself.

What new knowledge

Is there to discover?

What is it that

I truly possess?

If what I have learned

Until now is unclear,

What will come of

Understanding more in the future?

Time has passed,

And now the moment has arrived

To come closer to you,

For the time is right.

If I cannot understand

Clearly what has transpired,

Then where is the place

For these inquiries?

I have lived

With what I have understood,

Yet life

Has not slipped away from me.

The time that remains

Will pass similarly,

No further worries.

If there is more

To comprehend,

Then it is now

Your responsibility.

Just as we are answerable to ourselves, so too is God. He cannot escape His own consciousness. Until He gives, I won’t stop seeking; until He opens, I won’t stop knocking. Like us, He too faces the consequences of His choices, having created me.

BT Song 1608: I Need an Answer

I never asked

For anything on my own

You provided things

Without asking

I didn’t ask for gold, wealth, or land

Nor did I ask for a life of luxury

I didn’t ask for name or fame

Nor did I seek devotion or liberation

I’ve asked some questions

Expecting brief answers

But if there’s no answer to these

Why did you create me? Please tell me

If two made a mistake,

How did I

End up being born

Through error?

Who’s fault it was,

I’ve lived on earth

Till now,

But how much longer?

Let what has happened,

Be as it is

BT Song 1608: An Answer I Seek

I have never asked for anything,

Yet you have given

Without my request.

Even so, I have asked a few things,

And some you have denied.

I have not asked for gold,

Wealth, or land,

Nor have I sought a life of luxury.

Neither have I desired

Name or fame,

Nor have I sought

Devotion or liberation.

I have posed certain questions,

Expecting concise answers,

But if there are no answers

To these,

Then why did you create me?

Tell me, if you can.

If there was a mistake

By two,

How did I

Err in being born?

Whose fault was it?

And what is the reason?

These questions remain unanswered,

And I have lived on this earth,

But how much longer

Shall I continue?

Let what has occurred,

Remain as it is.

Let the future unfold,

Without concern.

If something went wrong,

Where did it go wrong?

If you, who know it,

Can correct it,

For these questions.

Therefore, I shall not cease

In one way, it is good that God has set limitations to everything in His creation. Though there are unexplored areas within nature and within us, we still have limitations due to our own personalities. Even though there is room for further expansion, it is better to play the game within the rules than to change them while playing. So when I go beyond my limits, God warns me, reminding me that it is better to follow the rules I have created for myself at this moment. If I want to explore more and prepare for surprises, I must first set rules, whether for physical, mental, or spiritual life.

BT Song 1609: This is the Limit

I know

This is the limit

I understand that

I can’t think beyond this

The mind thinks

The thoughts extend

Measuring all of

Space and time

Is the unknown

No one has the power

To surpass it

This is the boundary,

I know it well.

I cannot think beyond this.

Lies the unknown.

I have realized

That no one has the power

To surpass it,

And thus I know the limits of humanity.

Therefore, with your measure,

And your scale,

There is no need to

Measure further.

Stop measuring,

Do not even think of it.

After this,

This boundary, too,

Is beneficial in a way,

For it shows the limit

For me, the ultimate means to understand another person is through relationship. The same is true with God. The One who remains transcendental happily becomes immanent in my relationship with Him. Though I value knowledge and give importance to karma, bhakti is the foundation upon which the other two stand. While all three complement each other and enhance their respective roles, it is bhakti that sustains the other two.

BT Song 1610: What’s the Use of Knowledge

To know

What is beyond

I called you

“God” and gave a name

Gave different

Explanations for it

Compiled them

And wrote them down

Then wrote more

Commentaries

And added new

Rules

To know you,

Who is close by,

I set up

Many more boundaries

Studied famous

Philosophies

Compared them

And analyzed them

But the more I did,

To know what lies beyond,

I called you “God”

To know you,

Who are so near,

I created more and more boundaries.

I studied renowned philosophies,

Comparing them

And analyzing them.

But the more I delved,

The farther I strayed.

I refused to touch

And feel you,

Though you were near.

When I called,

You became simple,
