BT Song 1636
Having a double mind and being unable to make decisions is common in human nature. However, God should not possess this nature. For all prayers, His response is often, “I know when to give, and you must remain patient.” But my question is, “How long?” My situation and health put a lot of pressure on me, yet He seems unconcerned, as He already knows my future. But as a human-God, I expect Him to understand my needs and frustrations.
BT Song 1636 Both Are Lost
Simple English
If it can’t be done,
Say it clearly.
If it can be done,
Do what is finished. 1
If neither happens,
And this continues,
People will say,
You are unstable. 2
Do you really need
This stubbornness?
You know what you’re doing,
And that too will be known. 3
What will I do?
To find out,
You act like this,
And that too is clear. 4
First,
What I would do,
You will certainly know. 5
I did the same now,
Since I had no choice,
I followed my own path. 6
In you, always,
There is only one thing,
You keep patience,
That is what you say. 7
How long can I endure?
Is my question,
After making me unstable,
You will let me go. 8
I have no worries,
About that,
That is always,
My state. 9
But if yours,
Is also the same,
I cannot bear,
That anymore. 10
Don’t say,
You are neutral,
Don’t turn into,
A cat on the fence. 11
As a human god,
But then later,
Don’t turn into,
An unstable person. 12

BT Song 1636 Both Are Doomed
Classical English
If it cannot be done,
Speak with finality.
If it can be done,
Complete what is finished. 1
If neither is accomplished,
And thus it remains,
They will declare,
You are unstable. 2
Is this obstinacy,
Truly necessary for you?
You act knowingly,
And that too will be revealed. 3
What course I shall take,
To comprehend this,
You act in this manner,
And that too is understood. 4
First and foremost,
What I would do,
Will surely be known to you. 5
And now,
I too have acted,
For lacking alternatives,
I have walked my path. 6
In you, always,
There remains but one thing,
You keep patience,
So you declare. 7
How long can I endure?
I proclaim,
After rendering me unstable,
You will release me. 8
I harbor no concern,
Regarding that,
For that is ever,
My condition. 9
But if yours,
Is also the same,
I can no longer,
Endure it. 10
Do not claim,
You are neutral,
Nor transform into,
A cat on the fence. 11
As a divine human,
But thereafter,
Do not again become,
An unstable person. 12

BT Song 1637
I find it difficult to forget my Amma, and I often cry. I know she won’t return. There’s no point in sharing with others or seeking counseling. I’m unsure if I have a psychological problem, but even if I do, only God can provide a remedy. God may not be responsible for our physical suffering, but since we are created in His image, He should take responsibility for our mental suffering. Although we may be transformed, I’m uncertain if our mind will exist in the Afterlife. So, instead of bringing this same mind into the next life, He must begin His treatment while I’m still living. Otherwise, there’s a risk He could face the same issue there.
BT Song 1637 Good for You
Simple English
Why do you let me cry
And watch as if it’s amusing?
What benefit will it bring
To you? Explain. 1
If you keep me
Filled with joy,
I can sing songs of praise
From the heart. 2
Crying is, in a way,
Good for the mind.
But after that, sorrow
Still remains. 3
So, what’s the use
Of crying? Tell me,
That’s what
I don’t understand now. 4
If you don’t treat
The illness,
What’s the point
Of just relieving the symptoms? 5
Without a permanent solution,
If temporary relief comes again,
What is the use?
Tell me that. 6
When many illnesses are cured,
And peace is restored,
Is there no medicine
For mental anguish? 7
If you aren’t the cause
Of bodily illness,
Then tell me,
Who is the cause of mental pain? 8
Did the mind exist
At birth?
Or did it join
As you grew? 9
Whatever the answer,
The treatment
Must be given
Right now. 10
If you just give
The solution,
The illness will vanish
Like it came. 11
What’s the point
Of curing bodily pain,
If there’s no medicine
For the mind? 12
Do you have to live
With this unending illness?
Or will you seek
A cure? 13
Even after death,
Don’t say
This illness
Won’t go away. 14
After that,
The disease will spread,
It will grip
You too. 15
So start the treatment
Here and now.
You too
Will benefit from it. 16

BT Song 1637 What Is Good for You
Classical English
Why do you allow me to weep
And stand by in amusement?
What profit does it bring
To you? Speak of it. 1
If you keep me
In the fullness of joy,
I could sing hymns of praise
With all my heart. 2
Weeping is, in some sense,
Beneficial for the mind.
Yet after it, sorrow
Lingers still. 3
So, what advantage
Does crying bring?
That is what
I fail to grasp at present. 4
If you fail to treat
The illness itself,
What use is there
In merely easing the symptoms? 5
Without securing
A lasting cure,
If temporary relief arrives,
What good is it? 6
When numerous ailments are healed
And peace is restored,
Is there truly no remedy
For the anguished mind? 7
If you are not
The source of bodily illness,
Then declare,
Who is the cause of mental torment? 8
Was the mind present
At birth?
Or did it take root
As you grew? 9
Whatever the answer,
The treatment
Must be administered
At once. 10
If only you provide
The solution,
The malady will disappear
As swiftly as it came. 11
What use is there
In healing bodily affliction,
If no remedy is given
For the suffering mind? 12
Must you endure
This perpetual ailment?
Or will you seek
A cure? 13
Even in death,
Do not claim
That this affliction
Will never depart. 14
After that,
The disease will spread,
It will ensnare
You as well. 15
Therefore, begin
The treatment here.
In it, you too
Will find your good. 16

BT Song 1638
This is a different kind of Viraha Bhakti song. I’m not sure if I’ve encountered such a song before. I superimposed my search for my guru, ultimately finding Him in Muktinath in a state of Viraha Bhava. I hesitated and even rejected Him when He proposed to me, thinking He wasn’t one of us. But when He touched both my atman and mind, I realized He was the one I had been searching for. What happened next is history. When I recalled my search for my guru, I wrote this using this genre to express how He became mine and I became His. Poetry has unlimited realms to explore, which theology cannot touch.
BT Song 1638 I Surrendered Myself
Simple English
You came to me,
My body trembled,
Why did you do this?
My mind wavered. 1
As an ignorant child,
I lived innocently,
Even then, you captivated
And took my heart. 2
But even after
I came of age,
I forgot you,
And lived my life. 3
You never forgot
The love you showed
In the beginning,
Waiting patiently. 4
Though my mind
And heart matured,
I lived without
Knowing you. 5
Then, urged by
Nature’s push,
I wandered searching
For love meant for me. 6
Many loved me,
But my heart didn’t understand,
They spoke in ways
I couldn’t comprehend. 7
Their words
Made no sense,
Their love too
Wasn’t true. 8
After rejecting
All of them,
I continued searching
For the love meant for me. 9
As my body withered,
And my mind weakened,
My soul cried out,
Struggling in pain. 10
Then, your hand
Touched me,
Your loving words
Touched my soul. 11
But because
You seemed a stranger,
I didn’t understand
And hesitated. 12
You spoke of the love
You had from the beginning,
Saying you created me
For that very love. 13
Then, when you
Took my hand,
I was overwhelmed
By that feeling. 14
As you embraced me
Tenderly,
I realized my true
Need. 15
Then, in boundless joy,
Fear and shyness
Merged together,
As one. 16
As my body quivered,
My heart trembled,
I fully surrendered
Myself into your hands. 17

BT Song 1638 I Gave Myself
Classical English
You came to me,
My body shivered,
Why did you act thus?
My mind was shaken. 1
As an ignorant child,
I lived in innocence,
Even then, you stole
And took my heart. 2
But even after
I reached maturity,
I forgot you,
And lived my life. 3
You never forgot
The love you showed
At the beginning,
Patiently waiting. 4
Though my mind
And heart matured,
I lived unaware
Of your presence. 5
Then, driven by
Nature’s urging,
I wandered in search
Of the love destined for me. 6
Many professed love,
But my heart did not comprehend,
Their words were
Incomprehensible to me. 7
Their language
Was beyond my understanding,
And their love
Proved untrue. 8
After rejecting
All of them,
I continued searching
For the love meant for me. 9
As my body withered,
And my mind grew weak,
My soul struggled
And cried out in pain. 10
Then, your hand
Touched me,
Your loving words
Stirred my spirit. 11
Yet, because
You seemed a stranger,
I did not comprehend,
And hesitated. 12
You spoke of the love
You had from the start,
Declaring you created me
For that very purpose. 13
Then, as you
Held my hand,
I was enraptured
By that feeling. 14
As you embraced me
Tenderly,
I realized at last
My true need. 15
Then, in boundless joy,
Fear and modesty
Were united
As one. 16
As my body quaked,
And my heart trembled,
I surrendered myself
Fully into your hands. 17

BT Song 1639
Since God alone gives both the thought and words to express our needs, all our prayer requests, in a way, align with His will. When a devotee has fully surrendered to the Lord, there’s no place for her own will, only the Lord’s. Following this logic, He should grant what I ask, as it aligns with His will more than my own. Yet, I’m unsure if He understands my logic, as He never seems to comprehend my thoughts, writings, or even my nature. But He deserves this understanding.
BT Song 1639 Understand This
Simple English
If I ask something,
You will do it,
If I ask why,
You say it’s my desire. 1
Did I ever say no?
Did I live till now
Without knowing
Your desires? 2
When what I say
Is what you want,
Can what I ask
Be any different? 3
Understanding this
Is good for both of us,
Where do your desires
And mine differ in this? 4
Your desires are mine,
And mine are yours,
This truth becomes clear
When you realize this. 5
Would I even ask
Without your desire?
Without understanding this,
Why do you still question? 6
To understand your will,
I gave myself,
After giving everything,
I realized it too. 7
Then I forgot
My desires completely,
I accepted that
Everything is your will. 8
So now even
What I ask
Is not mine;
It is your will. 9
Without realizing this,
You still deny it,
And that is now
A great trouble. 10

BT Song 1639 Comprehend This
Classical English
When I request something,
You do something else,
When I inquire why,
You declare it is my will. 1
Did I ever refuse?
Did I dwell thus far
Without discerning
Your intentions? 2
When what I articulate
Is in line with your wishes,
Can my inquiry
Be any different? 3
Grasping this truth
Benefits us both,
Where then do your desires
And mine diverge? 4
Your desires are mine,
And mine are yours,
This verity emerges
When this is comprehended. 5
Would I even question
Without your desire?
Without grasping this,
Why do you persist in asking? 6
To comprehend your will,
I surrendered myself,
And after surrendering all,
I came to understand it. 7
Thereafter, I relinquished
All of my own desires,
And embraced the truth
That all is your will. 8
Thus, now even
My requests
Are not mine,
But expressions of your will. 9
Without discerning this,
You continue to deny,
And this now
Becomes a great burden. 10

Simple English Translation
BT Song 1640 Pain
I came trusting
In you, Lord,
In your love
That never changes. 1
Don’t stand afar
Watching like a spectator,
Come close and heal
With your touch, I plead. 2
The pain of the body
Is true on one side,
Calling it an illusion
Doesn’t make it go away. 3
The experience of
Seeing your form,
You can’t deny it,
There is no escape here. 4
We try many ways,
We do many things,
And provide treatments
As much as we can. 5
But they are not enough,
Realizing this,
We train the body
In various exercises. 6
Yet we seek
Your merciful hand,
Longing for the comfort
That only it can give. 7
As long as we live
On this earth,
We realize there is no way
To find complete healing. 8
So, we seek your hand
To bring us peace,
O Lord, there’s no other way,
We turn to you. 9
To you who knows
What I must say,
No more words
Can express my servitude. 10
Therefore, I seek
Your grace and love,
Without delay, grant it
Once more to me. 11

BT Song 1640 Agony
Classical English
In faith, I came
To thee, O Lord,
In thy love
That is ever steadfast. 1
Do not stand afar
As a mere observer,
Come near and heal
With thy touch, I beseech. 2
The affliction of the flesh
Is real on one side,
To dismiss it as illusion
Offers no reprieve. 3
The vision of thy form,
The experience thereof,
Thou canst not deny,
There is no other recourse here. 4
We attempt in many ways,
Perform numerous acts,
And offer treatments
To the best of our ability. 5
Yet these are insufficient,
Understanding this,
We train the body
Through various disciplines. 6
Still, we yearn
For thy merciful hand,
Seeking the solace
That only it can bestow. 7
As long as we dwell
Upon this earth,
We recognize no path
To achieve perfect healing. 8
Therefore, we seek thy hand
To deliver us peace,
O Master, there is no other way,
We turn to thee. 9
To thee who knows
What words I must speak,
No further language
Can convey my devotion. 10
Thus, I implore
Thy grace and love,
Without delay, grant it
Once more unto me. 11

BT Song 1636 ரெண்டுங் கெட்டான்
முடியா தென்றால்
முடிவாய்ச் சொல்லு
முடியும் என்றால்
முடிந்ததைச் செய்யு 1
இரண்டும் இல்லாமல்
இப்படி இருந்தால்
ரெண்டுங் கெட்டான்
என்று சொல்வார் 2
தேவையா உனக்கு
இந்த வசவும்
தெரிந்தே செய்கிறாய்
அதுவும் தெரியும் 3
நானென்ன செய்வேன்
என்பதை அறிய
இப்படிச் செய்கிறாய்
அதுவும் புரியும் 4
முதலில் எதனை
நானும் செய்வேன்
என்று உனக்கு
நிச்சயம் தெரியும் 5
அதையே இப்போ
நானும் செய்தேன்
பதில்லை என்பதால்
என்வழி போனேன் 6
உன்பதில் என்றும்
ஒன்றே ஒன்றுதான்
பொறுமை காப்பாய்
என்பாய் அதுதான் 7
எதுவரை பொறுக்க
என்பதைச் சொல்வாய்
ரெண்டுங் கெட்டானாக்கி
என்னை விடுவாய் 8
எனக்கு அதுபற்றி
கவலை இல்லை
அதுவே எப்போதும்
எனது நிலைமை 9
ஆனால் உனதும்
அதுதான் என்றால்
அதைத்தான் பொறுக்க
முடியலை எனக்கு 10
நடுநிலை வைக்கிறேன்
என்று சொல்லாதே
மதிமேற் பூனையாய்
நீயும் மாறாதே 11
மனித தெய்வமாய்
ஆனா பின்னாலே
ரெண்டுங் கெட்டானாய்
இனியும் இருகாதே 12

BT Song 1637
