BT Song 4

This is a translation of the Hindi song ‘Teri aradhana karum’.  This is not a verbatim translation, but mostly kept  the original meaning and tune.  I wrote this song in 1985.

I worship you as you came to remove my sin and curse

And to give holiness

You are good one; you are mighty one

You become God in my life

O my Lord I will praise you

Accept this poor man

I praise you wholeheartedly

I sing your sweet name

Your glory dwells in natures’ every scene

When birds too sing your fame

Accept me the sinner too

I praise you wholeheartedly

I sing your sweet name

You are the sweet light that shines in life

which is engulfed by darkness in the world

by removing all blemish (from me)

accept this poor man by cleansing by your blood

I praise you wholeheartedly

I sing your sweet name

I am not an enthusiastic supporter of literary or verbatim translation of any song.  No translation can communicate what is written originally in another language.  But, as the music and meaning impressed me, I was compelled in my spirit to translate this song.  In one summer camp at Sat-tal ashram in Hindi session, I requested the Hindi participants to sing it in Hindi and I sang with them in Tamil and they all liked it very much.  So I prefer to sing every song in the original language in which it was written, as some songs in other languages have rich meaning and music, nothing wrong in translating and using it for our needs as well.
