Song 46
The cyclical events in life (both joy and sorrow) make this life an unending story. This becomes a reality as every end becomes the beginning.
The cyclical events in life (both joy and sorrow) make this life an unending story. This becomes a reality as every end becomes the beginning.

46 Unending Story
The life became
An unending story
As it is filled with
Joy and sorrow
Though we began it easily
It is very difficult to end properly
As end itself become
The beginning again.

Song 47
After I wrote the following poem, I was laughing at myself. Because, if some critic writes about me in future, without knowing the real story about me, but simply reading my poems, I might come to the conclusion that I am gradually losing interest both in spiritual life and in my vocation as a Sanyasi (?!?). But the reality is that unless the poet himself has specifically said, we cannot speculate merely depending upon his poems, because a poet has the freedom of imagination to express some of his thoughts. And such a freedom sometimes ends up mere exaggeration, because of play of words.

47 A history
In this troublesome world
No one can live without facing some defeat in life
As long we live on this earth
The struggle which begins is never going to end!
There is none who never faced defeat
From the beginning of human history
But the history never belongs to them
This is the final truth.
Not giving up because of defeat
If we continue to make progress
The success will come behind us
And we can start new history

Song 48
This poem is very difficult to translate in English as certain words in Tamil have different meanings according to the context. For example, ‘kaama(m)’ though translated as ‘lust’ actually here is not merely lust. But all the opposite concepts that we often use for certain things in life are mere play of words. In reality they are one and the same.
48. All are the same
They will say that kaama is different from love
As they don’t know the meaning of them properly
Kaama and love are one and the same
Those who live properly
They will say that love is different from desire
As they don’t know about them
Both love and desire are one and the same
For those who lived, enjoying them!
They will say that mind is different from buddhi
As they don’t understand clearly
Both mind and buddhi are one and the same
When we see the result
They will say that life is different from what we talk
As they don’t understand them properly
Both life and what we talk are one and the same
When we see the result
All the contradictions in life are
Nothing but play of words
However we do that play of words
The life that we live is one and the same

Song 49
On my trip from Varanasi to Lucknow some fellow passengers began to talk with me discussing various issues in life. And one such topic was how to control the ‘animal’ nature within us, particularly anger and rage which overcomes us. Then I gave my regular answer that there is no easy and ready-made one time solution for this. And it all depends upon our interpersonal relationship. After the discussion, as most of them got down in the next station, I got some time to further reflect. That time I wrote this song. Calling such unwanted nature with us as ‘animal instinct’ is not correct as they never transgress their natural instinct. We humans always transgress our own nature but call it animal instinct. Better to call it ‘human instinct’.

49 Human ‘instinct’
A kind of animal instinct
Rising its ugly head within me
Slowly annihilating
The tender nature in me!
There is no human being
On this world without having this struggle
But giving some false excuse
I continue to feed that instinct
As I said that it was an ‘animal’ instinct
I began to observe their nature
In order to understand
Its true nature within me!
But what really surprised me is that
There is no such ‘animal’ instinct in them
As they live naturally
Following their own animal nature
When they feel hungry, they search for prey
When they feel thirsty, they drink water
When the season comes, they mate
But keeping all these with their natural limit
But in order to feed my ‘instinct’
As I try in many other ways
I should not call it ‘animal’ instinct
I should name it as ‘human’ instinct
Therefore, without my own knowledge
Some kind of ‘human’ instinct
Raising its ugly head
Destroying my tender heart.

Song 50
When I was reflecting on the second Song in Bhajagovindam [makuru dana, jana yaouvana garvam =don’t brag about your wealth, strength and youthhood] I wrote this song.

50 don’t be proud
Don’t be proud in your beauty
Don’t be proud in your intellect
Don’t be proud in your strength
Don’t be proud in your wealth
One should be proud in her character
One should be firm in her conviction
One should be humble in behaviour
One should have maturity in mind
Nothing will come along with you
When you go as you came
The only things that will come with you
Is the result of your work (karma)
Intellect, beauty, and strength
Is nothing but the gift of God
If we manage to handle them properly
We will gain in life
