BT Songs 381 to 385

BT Song 381

BT Song 381 Remember me

Peace is required for the heart which is get tossed

Boundary is need for the buddhi which never remain under control

I should approach you by thought and heart

And should worship your feet every day.

Though you stand beyond my vision

And remain unapproachable to my thought

You should come and over lord me

Through my senses becoming one with me

Though I repeat the same thing again and again

And remain  unable to say anything

You who understands me even I telling nothing to you

Should keep me with you, making me your own.

In this world where uproar becomes the norm

And in the life which runs amidst it

Though thousands of constraints surround me

I should think of you amidst them all.

Though I forgot you

And whatever might be the reason for that

Remembering my initial love for you

You should again bestow your grace by over lording me.

31-1-16, 2.55 pm, Mathigiri

When I pray, think, or write, the one thought that often comes to my mind is: is there anything new?  I am only repeating the same thing in different words.  And in this routine and familiarity I get lost in my sense of bhakti in the Lord.  However, as His grace remains new and as He understands me well, like a parrot I can repeat the same thing again and again and He won’t become upset with me.

BT Song 382

BT Song 382 Blissful

Everything become blissful

When I sing praising you

And think about your creation—everything becomes…

Creating sky and earth

And various planets

And different kinds of life

Along with them also creating me—everything becomes…

Creating day and night

And various seasons

And establishing many rules

For us to live properly—everything becomes…

Giving code of contacts

To guide us in life

And giving dharma (duty)

In our life too—everything becomes…

Giving noble status

For those who live according to your way

And giving many dharmas

For those who forgot your path—everything becomes…

After providing all these

In order to give ourselves to you

Giving the status of bhakti

With much concern—everything becomes…

2-2-16, 2.50 pm. Mathigiri

I often think that my songs are more pessimistic and melancholic.  Rarely do I write songs praising the Lord and singing His glory. As I thought about it, I wrote this song thinking about all the beauty in God’s creation.  Though God gives mukti to those who come unto him, he gives dharma for all even to those who do not know him.

BT Song 383.

BT Song 383. Unending Mukti

The journey came to an end with this earth

When we will receive that eternal Mukti

Therefore we don’t have fear about anything

And we will never go to the burning hell

Though we get separated for some time

Again we will meet and rejoice

We saw an end to the life on this earth

And we will rejoice by entering in that New Life

We will rejoice by seeing those

Who went before there?

And we will wait eagerly

For other bhaktas (believers) to come and join us

Though parents and relatives feel sad

And shed tears unable to tolerate our separation

Seeing our bhakti (faith)

They will give Thanks to the Lord

In order to see us again

They too live with that bhakti (faith)

Once they too complete their race

They will come and join with us

Therefore let us REJOICE in THE LORD

And sing with loud voice and joy

For others too to receive this HOPE

Let us pray to God for them too.

4-2-2016, Mathigiri, 10.30, am.

I received the news about the ailment of one bhakta who was suffering with chronic cancer and getting ready to go and be with the Lord. Though I never met him, I rejoice for his bhakti and courage and hope in the Lord.  Then I thought about the ASSURANCE that we have in the Lord.  Then I wrote this song dedicated to him and also to encourage his family members and friends.  Though my view about heaven and hell is different, yet for the sake of poetic expression I use them. We should be always careful not to form or infer theology in poems. They are more spontaneous esoteric expressions of feeling and emotion through words than means to express clear cut theology.

BT Song 384 Knowing without understanding

They didn’t understand you

They cannot recognize you

Though they lived with you

And begot you

You become their (human) relative

And lived both in words and deeds (with them)

How much you have done to them

And how much you have shared with them

As milk too become tasteless

As we become familiar with it

It is pitiable that they refused to understand you

Though they lived with you.

Yet you went along with them

And become a slave to them

Then living under their roof

You grew in Grace (and wisdom)

We too become like them

Though you redeemed us

If we don’t know, that will be good for us

But pathetic is our condition as we know without understanding.

As we don’t understand even after knowing you

Now it is your duty to protect us

We come again unto you

Taking courage in it.

8-2-16, Mathigiri, 5.45 am.

We cannot and should not expect any kind of ‘thanks’ for what we do to our own family members.  This is not part of our culture and tradition. Some may argue what is wrong in it by expressing our thanks and return our gratitude through words.  I am not against it, but it looks very ‘artificial’ to me.  Though this is a Hindu concept that everyone (particularly a male child that too a Brahmin) born with five debts (to gods, rishish (gurus, acharyas and preceptors), ancestors, fellow human beings and to the non-human world (though this is strictly assigned to animal world, I want to include nature too), I think this view is applicable to everyone.

But all these debts cannot be paid back whatever we do to them. For example, nobody can pay back the debt to one’s own mother.

But the irony in human relationships is that familiarity not only breeds contempt, but several times it refuses to understand others’ ‘limitation’ and ‘needs’—particularly those who serve us.  As humans, though we often become upset and ‘react’, yet we see a model in the Lord who has done His ‘dharma’ towards His family members (mother and siblings).  Of course we cannot imitate Him, but when we are discouraged we can learn from His life to continue to do what we ought to do.

Several times we are doing the same to the Lord what His family members have done to Him, but blame that our own family members are doing it to us.

BT Song 385

BT Song 385 I won’t afraid

Somehow you redeemed me

And gave a life to me

Thinking only about it

I will rejoice (in you)

You didn’t redeem me asking me before

You never considered my mean status (as a sinner)

Only because of your grace

You over lord me.

I only allowed you to do that

And tried my best to understand it

How much I obeyed

That far I understood

You kept patience

You tolerated many of my mistakes

You showed me the way

To live in you by giving myself

Though the goal is too far away

And many struggles are on the way

As you remained my goal to reach

I won’t be afraid of anything

As you accompany me who redeemed me

And walking before me to take to that goal

What else I required any more

As you are there to show the path

Keeping you in front of me

And keeping you within me

And having only that strength

I live each day.

8-2-16, Mathigiri, 6.15 am.

As I was constantly thinking about that bhakta who was lying down on the bed with serious ailment and facing death hugging his two children (see song 383) I couldn’t sleep properly last night.  I cried several times while typing this also.  As I was thinking about him, the words of another person with similar ailment about doing tapasya in the hospital room, treating it as the cave for them to do it, this morning I continue to think about the reality of suffering.  As Muktived also endorses the REALITY of physical suffering, we cannot explain it psychologically or even spiritually when someone undergoes that painful movement that too each second in their life.  We too had a similar experience when we experienced that physical suffering.  But once it is gone, though we can recall that experience, it rarely disturbs our mind at present. But for those who are constantly facing it along with seeing the suffering of the near and dear ones is beyond human comprehension.  And as I was constantly thinking about that bhakta and his wife and children I wrote this song meditating upon the words of as doing tapasya
