Secular Songs 651 to 655

Voice of the Mind: 651

One person with a romantic spirit wrote in one of his poems that he doesn’t want to donate his eyes after death because he believes he will see his beloved only through them. This sentiment aligns with the romantic notion of seeing one’s beloved everywhere. However, offering an alternative perspective, I emphasized the importance of donating one’s eyes if you wish to see not only your beloved but also your near and dear ones—those you might miss, or who might miss you. By donating your eyes, you ensure that your vision can continue to bring comfort to others.

While Hinduism teaches that the merits of charity (dana) accompany us to the next world, providing us with some credit, those effects typically end with our death—though those who benefited from our charity may remember us. However, by donating your eyes, there is a chance for the benefits of your charity to continue on this earth, even after you pass away. In this sense, donating one’s eyes could be considered the greatest of all danas—this is my personal view.

Mind’s Voice: Song 651 — A Second Look

Even after death,

To see her again,

If there’s a chance,

I wish to find.

By donating my eyes,

I will admire her,

Gaze upon her once more,

And cherish the sight.

With love and care,

I embraced and lived

With those around me,

Full of affection.

If you wish

To see them again,

Donate your eyes,

Both of them.

Other donations,

Whatever they may be,

End with death,

And fade away.

But donating eyes

Will let us continue

To see those we cherish,

Even after we’re gone.

If you desire

To regain lost love,

And reunite with

The affection you once had,

Then donate your eyes,

Both of them,

And love and care

Will return to you.

Even after death,

If you long to regain

Unforgotten relationships,

And cherish them once more,

Donate your eyes,

And you will find

The lost bond again,

Reunited forever.

Voice of the Mind: 652: Law of nature

When I moved to this area to live in my ‘Kutil’ near a forest it was quiet and calm.  Rarely I can hear any artificial noise.  Even to reach to a near by house, I have to walk minimum 10 minutes.  Rarely I will hear the noise of a bus in the distant road and rarely a vehicle will go near the place in the mud road.  Most of the time I will listen the sweet voice of birds and night rarely the voice of some forest animals that move around for hunting.  But after nearly 20 years things have changed.  Though there is not much air pollution now lots of noise pollution often disturbs me.  The cement road near by allows the movement of so many vehicles from near by villages.  There are so many vehicle moving on the distant road.  This being in this once remote place, what to say in other parts of the world where I often hear about landslides burying people alive who destroyed forest to live.  What we sow we have to reap.  Noone can escape from this law of nature—but fortunately such rule never exists for Nature as it never survives by destroying the other.

Voice of the Mind: Unchanging Fate 652

Destroying the forests,

To develop the land,

The destroyed forests,

Will return with vengeance.

Losing both forests and land,

Both vanish away,

Here, mankind

Withers in dismay.

“Raise another’s child,

As if your own,

Then your own child

Will also thrive alone.”

Though this ancient wisdom

We know so well,

Our nature alone

Does not seem to change.

Even in the forests

There’s a struggle for life,

Where the worthy

Survive in strife.

Yet, even the fallen

Trees and shrubs,

Turn into fertilizer,

And serve a noble purpose.

But here, without helping,

Even as fertilizer,

We destroy each other,

Leaving no room for life.

Depriving everyone

Of space to live,

Such actions

Are truly a grave sin.

If done in error,

We may correct,

But when done knowingly,

What can be said?

What we have sown

We must also reap,

This truth of fate

We must keep.

Voice of the Mind: 653

A Senior Parent’s Voice of Entitlement

Voice of the Heart 653: Entitlement or Duty

Duty alone

Always for me,

Only rights

Always for you.

If both slightly

Swap places,

Then you will understand

The situation.

Did I raise you

Thinking it as debt?

Did I nurture you

Thinking it as duty?

Even after

Old age came to me,

I refused to ask

For my rights.

You demand

Many things

And always say

It’s yours alone.

I followed

And did everything,

You said even that

Was my duty.

Now you’ve grown

And become an adult,

You’ve got your

Own family too.

Why do you

Forget me now,

When it’s your turn

For duty?

I accepted this

And silently endured,

Worked hard

Until the end for you.

At least the final debt,

Would you please pay?

I have this right

In my heart.

If you repay

This debt alone,

Your debt

Will be fulfilled too.

I didn’t say this

For the debt of

Raising and nurturing you.

There’s no way

To erase this debt,

It’s a debt

Without interest.

If there’s a right

To ask for rights,

Then there’s a duty

To repay the debt.

Voice of the Mind 654: Philosophy

See: https://dayanandbharati.in/philosophy/

Voice of the Mind: 654 – Philosophy

They said, “Touch and understand.”

They said, “Feel and realize.”

I, too, tried the same,

Touching something,

I, too, realized something.

They  gave it a form,

And then explained it in many ways.

Everyone tried to explain,

“This is what you understood.”

Being born without sight,

How can I understand

Their explanation?

Yet, within my brain,

Some form seemed to settle.

Then, my mind

Gave thousands of explanations.

Later, I went to them and asked,

“Is this understanding correct?”

They replied,

“We did not understand what you said,

Nor did we see such a form.”

Then they said to me,

“This is what you must understand.”

And thus, philosophy was born,

This is what you must understand today.

Even if both understandings are correct,

Explaining it to others became a mistake.

Was the listener wrong?

Was the speaker wrong?

I am not sure.

Yet, if you read this too,

That would be your greatest mistake.

Voice of the Mind 655:

I joined a Facebook group exclusively dedicated to sharing poems and useful thoughts. They also had many terms and conditions for joining. However, when I noticed that some members regularly posted messages like “Good Morning,” “Good Evening,” and “Good Night,” along with a lot of kisses, it started to irritate me. In which household in India, especially in Tamil Nadu, do people openly give lots of kisses to each other, except to children? While we are influenced by Western values, going to the other extreme by imitating them artificially won’t help us become Western. This reminds me of the famous story of a turkey dancing, imitating a peacock, imagining itself to be a peacock. I don’t know how to quit that group. If possible, I would prefer to leave it at the earliest rather than get irritated by such acts.

Voice of the Mind 655: Poet or Trash?

Saying Good morning

And Good evening

Also giving

One in the night

Along with kisses,

they send many,

messages and I know not

are the poems or trashs

There’s a group for this,

And a name for that,

But why?

I do not know.

But still,

What else can I do?

For now,

This is poetry.

Without wasting

Time and moments,

If you convey

A thoughtful message,

It would be nice

To hear and read,

Everything else

Becomes trash.

Those with time,

Will do just that,

While I,

Just focus on my work.

It wasn’t arrogance,

That made me speak,

And it wasn’t frustration,

That made me complain.

When I have an opinion,

Hiding it

Is of no use.
