1523 Silent Explanation
Creating me and
Calling me as your own
Also buying it
By paying a price
What is the reason
For breaking it
Not even using it
For a single second
As You have the right
To create me
Why you paid
A cost for that [to buy]
Added more to that
What is the reason
For crushing it
Like this
I know for sure that
No answer would come
I also know that
I am unnecessarily arguing
But the explanation
That your SILENCE gives
My atman understood
That is enough for me now
Rewa, 11-11-2023, Afternoon 1.00.
I went to Varanasi on November 1st and was busy with local programs till 5th. But I became sick due to food poisoning. With vomit and diarrhea I was down for two more days. As I slightly improved, not wanting to miss the opportunity that we already planned, I went to Buddha Gaya [8th Nov.], Rajgiri and Nalanda, returned back dead tired with joint pains. On 8th night I couldn’t even sleep for two hours due to severe pain on the right leg just above the toe. I even thought of not getting down from the car, allowing only Subhashan [who came to visit Varanasi and other places] to see Nalanda and Rajgiri. Somehow as a student of history, not wanting to miss the opportunity, with Subhshan’s help I walked slowly with much pain and visited important historical places.
As the Chikungunya virus was spreading widely in Varanasi, severe people became sick. I also returned back to Rewa with much joint pains [three days sickness, three days continuous travel in this old age that too with Pacemaker….too much]. But I was lovingly taken care by Shashi’s family and managed to have good rest on 10th night, but pain continued So this morning, ‘sick or no sick’ as I cannot spend a day without reading books, I took the book: The Essential Rumi, by Coleman Barks, New York, HarperCollins, 2004 [1995]. Before reading I listened to one Gazal of Rumi in You tube and one line impressed me: He bought the clay pot that he created; broke it and went away’. Impressed by the thought I wrote this poem.
