BT Song 1661
Over the past few days, I’ve been busy revising the article Square Round multiple times. Though I couldn’t achieve a perfect version, I at least wanted it to meet my satisfaction, addressing my needs and questions. While I sought ChatGPT’s assistance to edit it properly, it couldn’t meet my expectations. After all, it can only work with the data I provide and cannot fully grasp my thoughts. Finally, I managed to come up with the final version and posted it on my blog. However, the process took a toll on me. I felt mentally exhausted, and my mind refused to cooperate further—at least for now.
At the same time, my readings, especially Amartya Sen’s The Argumentative Indian, compelled me to record my reflections on certain points that raised questions for me. This led to yet another mini-article, which still needs to be elaborated further. These writings and readings disrupted my sleep, to the point where I began editing my works even in my dreams. Previously, I would write poems, but now my mind seems to push me even harder.
This morning, though I woke up early, I didn’t want to get out of bed. Unable to sleep any longer, I began talking to the Lord. During that time, I realized and confessed that my communication with Him alone helps me accept myself as I am and live in harmony with myself. As this inspiration continued, I wrote an entire song, contemplating how my relationship and communication with Him are what sustain my connection with the world, nature, and myself.
BT Song 1661 If It’s Right
- The bond I have with You
Is what keeps me alive;
Though my body connects with the world,
My heart stays apart. - The bond my mind has with my body
Is beyond my ability to express;
When my soul connects with my mind,
How can I put it into words? - Nothing in the world can exist
Without one linking to another.
What to disconnect and what to hold on to—
This I cannot surely tell. - If one bond intertwines with another,
And nothing can sever them,
How am I to sever ties
And still live connected here? - The answer lies with You,
And I clearly understand this:
If my bond with You alone remains unbroken,
All else will fall into place. - I live for this truth alone,
That all bonds will be right
If my bond with You is right.
For this, Lord, I seek Your grace.

BT Song 1661 If It Be True
Classical English Translation:
- The union I hold with Thee
Is the sole life-force sustaining me;
Though this body doth commune with the world,
My soul remaineth detached and free. - The tie betwixt mind and flesh,
Words cannot fathom nor define;
When spirit and mind dost intertwine,
What language can such truth express? - No existence in this realm may endure,
Save it be bound one to the other.
What to cleave, and what to embrace,
This certainty eludes my grasp. - If bonds are entwined, one with another,
And naught can sever these eternal ties,
How shall I, mortal and frail,
Sever yet live in steadfast connection? - The resolution rests in Thee, O Lord;
This truth my heart perceiveth clear:
If my bond with Thee alone endureth,
All else shall rightly align itself. - For this truth alone my life I devote,
That every bond doth find its place
If the bond with Thee standeth true.
To this end, Thy grace I implore.

BT Song 1662
Truth without love won’t remain strong to with stand; love without truth will remain barren and regimental. So as Muktiveda says, ‘Truthing in Love’ is the best option. Similarly Reason without experience will remain barren and Experience without reason will remain mere emotion. But when they contribute to each other, then we will realize the importance of both which would help us to have that experience of God which neither remain Intellectual Rational Theological understanding based on Scripture nor mere emotional personal experience without anything to hold as if walking on a slippery slope. This reminds me the famous song by Kannadasan about Experience: அனுபவம் யாதென இறைவனைக் கேட்டேன்; அந்த அனுபவமே நான்தான் என்றான் –I asked God what is experience; in response He said, ‘I am that experience’.
BT Song 1662: Divine Experience
Simple English Translation
The experience cannot
Be given by others.
No one else can explain it
And make it ours. 1
Even if others explain,
It won’t feel the same.
The experience comes
Only when it’s our own. 2
Even if explained
And clearly taught,
The experience remains ours
Only if we embrace it. 3
If we fail to examine
And understand it well,
The experience itself
Will bring no benefit. 4
No matter how deeply
We try to analyze,
If it doesn’t become ours,
It’s of no use. 5
Even wisdom taught
By others is not
Something that stays
Strong and permanent. 6
That’s why the words
Of wise men and
The scriptures they compiled
Are so important. 7
Along with their lives
And the paths they showed,
If we walk those steps,
We’ll find the way. 8
With knowledge comes feeling,
With feeling comes the mind,
With mind comes the soul,
All learning together. 9
That experience will
Stand as our guide,
And the spiritual journey
Will continue beautifully. 10
In the end, at His
Holy feet we’ll arrive,
And that experience
Will reveal Him to us. 11

BT Song 1662: Divine Experience
Classical English Translation
An experience profound
By others cannot be told.
No mortal tongue can gift it
To make it truly ours. 1
Though others may instruct,
And expound its ways,
This sacred experience
Must come from within. 2
Though explained with care
And conveyed in fullness,
The experience remains true
Only when it is embraced. 3
If we neglect to ponder
And seek its depths,
The fruits of experience
Shall yield no gain. 4
Though we delve and explore
With utmost diligence,
If it does not become ours,
Its worth remains lost. 5
Even wisdom shared
By the enlightened sages
Fails to endure steadfastly
Without inner anchoring. 6
Thus, the words of the wise,
And the scriptures they scribed,
Hold invaluable truths
For seekers of the path. 7
Along with their lives
And the steps they trod,
Following their footprints,
We discover the way. 8
From wisdom flows emotion,
From emotion springs the mind,
From the mind unites the soul,
In harmony learning divine. 9
Such sacred experience
Becomes our faithful guide,
Enabling the spiritual journey
To continue in sweetness. 10
At last, at His
Holy feet we bow,
And in that divine experience,
He reveals Himself to us. 11

BT Song 1663
Yesterday, I listened to a YouTube video about Husayn Ibn Mansur al-Hallaj, the 9th-century Sufi mystic renowned for his controversial declaration, “Ana al-Haqq” (I am the Truth), and the circumstances that led to his martyrdom. [YouTube link: https://youtu.be/IkRbIwCQ7Q0?si=C2XRSBrK3H740VWo]
During the narrative, the creator of this program, recited a poem by al-Hallaj that left a deep impression on me. While my own poem reflects a similar sentiment—though not entirely in alignment with al-Hallaj’s thought—it resonates with the mystic experiences found in the Indian Bhakti tradition.
Two lines from al-Hallaj’s poem captivated me profoundly:
He is me who tells it;
And if not for me, he would have no knower.
These lines reminded me of a similar thought expressed by Bhakti saint Nammalvar in Thiruvamozhi:
What can I say? Now becoming one with me, sweet life,
He makes me sing sweet songs with my own words.
With His own words, the Lord of illusion praises Himself,
The one who sings before me, the first of the three forms.
(VII.9.2)
The parallels between these mystical experiences reveal a shared depth of spiritual realization across traditions.
This is al-Hallaj’s famous poem:
His existence is through me.
My existence is through him.
As for his description,
he is me who tells it.
If not for him,
I would have known no guidance.
And if not for me,
he would have no knower.
In every meaning,
there is something that means him.
So tell those who contradict me,
you are wrong.
There is nothing but the Merciful,
my friends.
With which our spirits can be intimate.
BT Song 1663 We become ONE
Why did it disappear
as soon as it appeared?
Why did I forget
when clarity arrived?
I thought
you were the Lord,
Why then did you reject me,
the one I trusted?
How can something vanish
that has appeared?
How can something be remembered
that must not be forgotten?
When you reside
in my heart forever,
How can rejection happen?
Tell me this.
After giving this reply, A clarity came to me:
Where within me do I search for you?
How can I forget you and think of you?
Transcending philosophy and principles,
Beyond the mind and knowledge,
When life and feeling are intertwined,
There is no need to search anymore.
I must live in you,
I must dissolve in you,
This life that begins here
Must endure forever.

BT Song 1663: We Become ONE
Classical English
Why dost thou vanish
As soon as thou dost appear?
Why is thy presence forgotten
When clarity shines near? 1
I thought thee my Lord,
The One whom I adored.
Why then dost thou forsake me,
The heart where trust is stored? 2
Can that which is revealed
So quickly fade away?
Can that which must endure
Be forgotten in a day? 3
If thou dost dwell forever
Within this heart of mine,
How canst thou abandon me?
Explain, O Love Divine. 4
To this my soul received an answer:
Where within dost thou seek?
Canst thou forget thy Lord
And remember Him in meek? 5
Beyond mere philosophy,
Beyond all principles bound,
Beyond the mind and knowledge,
Life and feeling are profound. 6
No more shall I seek thee,
For in thee must I abide;
To live and to dissolve in thee,
Forever unified. 7

BT Song 1664
This is yet another song of lamentation—my inability to understand the life I lead in this age. I don’t want to travel, yet I find myself constantly moving. I don’t wish to talk much, yet I end up engaging in conversations. Why, then, does God not grant me the life I long for? Why does He continually impose what He thinks is best for me? I have no answers—just my regular lamentations.
Simple English Translation
BT Song 1664: No Other Way
Whether knowingly done
Or unknowingly so,
God, to question You,
There is no way. 1
Even if I understand,
Or fail to grasp it,
As Your devotee,
I have no other way. 2
When the knowledgeable act
Without awareness,
Understanding is useless—
This alone is clear. 3
Whatever is right for You,
That alone You’ll do.
The reason for this,
You refuse to reveal. 4
Only after it happens,
The reason becomes clear.
This alone provides peace,
And keeps me assured. 5
Blaming You
Brings no benefit.
Blaming myself
Changes nothing. 6
Before creation began,
You gave no such rights.
Now, granting them to me
Is not Your way. 7
Even if You call it
Your will or destiny,
Regret or complaint
Changes nothing. 8
Being an instrument
In Your mighty hands,
The outcome is fixed—
There’s no alternative. 9
This now
Is my situation,
And without knowing it,
I am not here. 10
Therefore, I won’t
Question You anymore.
Yet I will lament—
There is no other way. 11

BT Song 1664: No Other Way
Classical English Translation
Whether by knowing deed
Or in ignorance wrought,
O Lord, to question Thee,
A path there is not. 1
Though I comprehend,
Or fail to understand,
As Thy devoted servant,
No other way doth stand. 2
When the wise, unknowing,
Act without thought,
Understanding availeth naught—
This alone is taught. 3
What is right in Thine eyes,
That alone shalt Thou do.
Yet the reason for such,
Thou refusest to show. 4
When deeds are accomplished,
Their reason is revealed.
In this alone lies peace,
And thus is my heart healed. 5
To accuse Thee, O Lord,
Is folly and vain,
And to condemn myself
Bringeth no gain. 6
Before all creation,
Rights were not given.
Now granting them to me
Is not Thy Heaven. 7
Whether Thy will
Or destiny’s decree,
Neither regret nor complaint
Altereth what must be. 8
As an instrument
Within Thy hand,
The outcome is fixed—
No change shall stand. 9
Behold, this is now
My lot and my place.
Without its knowledge,
There is no trace. 10
Thus, I question Thee not,
Though my heart doth grieve.
Yet I cry aloud—
There is no reprieve. 11

BT Song 1665
If God has some expectations from me, then equally I too have some expectation. Unless what He does in history a bhakta has every right to demand this from God. As she doesn’t know what else can she do, once she reached the end of her struggle in life.
BT Song 1665: My Expectation
Simple English Translation
There is nothing more
I need to do
At this moment—
I am at rest. 1
Whatever happens
In my life,
Always, forever,
It is Your responsibility. 2
For me in this,
There is no place
For likes or dislikes,
Separate from You. 3
So, from now on,
Whatever is done,
Let me keep
This alone in mind. 4
The thought alone—
“You will do it”—
Is enough for me;
I understand this now. 5
This expectation,
Knowing it is right,
Is always my
Source of safety. 6
If You abandon it
As You often do,
And act otherwise,
It would be a grave mistake. 7
BT Song 1665: My Expectation
Classical English Translation
There remaineth now
Nothing more to do
For me today;
I am at peace. 1
Whatsoever may befall
In this life of mine,
Forever and always,
Thy duty it shall be. 2
For me herein,
There existeth no place
For desire or aversion,
Apart from Thee. 3
Henceforth, whatever
Thou choosest to do,
Let me bear this thought
Alone within my heart. 4
The single assurance—
“Thou shalt perform”—
Sufficeth for me;
This truth I comprehend. 5
This expectation,
Knowing it is just,
Remaineth ever
My place of refuge. 6
Shouldst Thou forsake it
As oft Thou dost,
And act contrariwise,
It would be a grievous wrong. 7

BT Song 1661 சரியாய் இருந்தால்
உன்னோடு உள்ள
தொடர்பு ஒன்றே
என்னோடு என்னை
வாழவைக்குது.
உலகோடு உடல்
தொடர்பு கொண்டாலும்
உள்ளம் அதனை
பிரிந்தே இருக்கிறது.
உடலோடு மனம்
கொண்ட தொடர்பை
என்னாலே சொல்ல
முடியாத போது,
உயிரோடு மனம்
கொண்ட தொடர்பை
எம்மொழிக் கொண்டு
நானும் சொல்வது?
ஒன்றுடன் ஒன்று
தொடர்பில்லாமல்
உலகில் வாழ்வு
சென்றுவிடாது.
எதைவிட்டு எதனுடன்
தொடர்பு கொள்வது
என்பதும் எனக்கு
நிச்சயம் தெரியாது.
ஒன்றுடன் ஒன்று
கொண்ட தொடர்பை
ஏதுமே அறுக்க
இயலாத போது,
நான்மட்டும் எதனை
எப்படி அறுத்து
எதனுடன் இங்கு
தொடர்ந்து வாழ்வது?
இதற்கான விடையோ
உன்னிடம் உள்ளது.
அதுமட்டும் எனக்கு
நன்றாகப் புரிகிறது.
உன்னோடு உள்ள
தொடர்பு மட்டும்
அறுந்துவிடாமல்
பார்த்துக்கொண்டால்,
எல்லாத் தொடர்பும்
சரியாக இருக்கும்
என்கின்ற உண்மை
சரியாய் இருக்கும்.
அதனை மட்டும்
பற்றியே வாழ்கிறேன்.
ஐயனே அதற்கு
உன்னருள் வேண்டும்.

BT Song 1662
