BT Song 506 to 510

BT Song 506

In judging others our Lord never argued too much. He gently and very simply touched their conscience to allow it to judge them.  This kind of approach to help people to realize their sin and compel them to repent is the unique Muktivedic concept. This incident of not punishing that woman but rather allowing her to go condemned by her own conscience touched me very deeply and I accept it silently.

BT Song 506 An ethics which stands beyond religion

“Let those who never committed any sin

Throw stone and remove the sinner from this earth”

This one word is enough for me

And what else I require to judge myself

He never uttered any philosophy

And never entered into any kind of argument

Gently He touched their conscience

And established the greatest justice

All those who took the stone dropped it

And silently accepted that verdict

“No one is there to punish you” though He said this,

Yet refuse to punish her by showing mercy to her

By using such few simple words

By giving a common justice to all

And establishing an ethics which transcends all religions

He proclaimed His own justice to this entire world

I too was like them

And I threw stones on others

Once His righteousness changed me

I accepted it by bowing at His feet

BT Song 507

Due to the severe cold as I slept during the day, I couldn’t sleep for a long time at night.  As I began to reflect on my life, so many questions again came.  When I obeyed the will of God, even though things went against me, yet I found some kind of peace and God clearly steered my life. But in a few incidents, in order to accommodate others’ wishes and plans when I went against God’s will for my life (that is how I approached those issues) it became a burden for me rather than giving peace. Then I asked the question, ‘who is to be blamed’ and I got the answer that ‘not others’.

In this context I remember one incident that happened in south Tamilnadu. I think it was in Madurai where on the first day there appeared several posters, ‘JESUS IS THE ANSWER’.  The next day counter posters appeared ‘WHAT IS YOUR QUESTIOIN’.  I don’t remember whether further posters appeared to this counter poster.  But this reminds me of one thing.  In general, the religious answer to any question in life is ‘God is the answer’.  I too used the same several times in the past as ‘Muktinath is the answer/solution’.  But I wonder whether there are any categorical verses from the Muktiveda clearly echoing this answer?  I would rather, with my limited knowledge in Muktiveda say ‘no’.

When many innocent people get killed in terrorist attacks, my mother’s one constant question is: ‘what they are going to achieve by killing so many or what they actually want’.  Though I never gave any answer to her, my response would be ‘even the terrorists themselves don’t know about it’.

So for so many issues in life, my understanding is that ‘GOD IS NOT THE ANSWER’.

Now another question that comes to my mind immediately is this: does this response resonate with Muktiveda’s teaching?  At least does this not contradict with the Muktivedic teaching?

As I said in the final stanza of this song, as I searched the answer within me, this is the response that I got:

We cannot limit God within the frame of Muktiveda.  However for a Muktinath bhakta it gives clear principles to learn so many answers for any kind of question in her life.  Therefore it has final authority in her life. Whereas my question and answer is my reflection on the reality of life.  This does not have any authority for others to follow.  But the final answer that God gives me to any question in life is not to seek Him as the answer but to try to find it within me.

If this meditation confuses you, don’t be surprised, even I am more confused than others and looking for an answer from God and others to find the correct answer within me.

BT Song 507

BT Song 507 God be the answer

“Where is the answer for this?”

Is not my question

If God is the answer, then

Where does this question come from?

Many lived on this earth

Keeping oneself as the answer (for others’ question)

Once they become the answer

Many more questions arose after that

As they put themselves

As the answer to others’ question

Others never get the answer

As they become the question

Has God ever done like this?

Did He ever become the answer?

As I analysed this question properly

I understood the question easily

God put each one as the answer

For their own question

As we refuse to accept this answer

We searched the answer outside us

Wherever we searched we never got the answer

And God didn’t give the answer for it

He asked us again to ask the question

And to search the answer within ourselves

Mathigiri, 7-9-16, 6.45 am.

In a recent panel discussion one child specialist said that infants do not have clear eye vision.  They could recognize their mother only through the smell of the mother’s milk, skin and sweat.  That’s why even if the father takes it when a child cries he cannot console it.  Whereas when the mother takes it from the father, as it immediately recognizes its mother, it stops crying as it feels secured in her hand.  Similarly one could have observed that when the baby takes milk from her mother, it communicates her feelings and joy through various sounds which a mother alone could recognize. If we notice, the mother too will talk using similar sounds or words which the baby will recognize.  We men will never understand this or can never have this bliss in our life. This is a unique gift from God to a mother.  There is no doubt in the saying that Mothers are the visible God on earth.  Neither baby understands it nor is able to communicate in human language. But it experiences that love and finds comfort only in its mother.

The same is the case with the compassion that a bhakta receives and enjoys with her bhagavan.  Neither can she understand it nor be able to communicate. But she can experience it and find comfort in it.  After completing my regular reading today, when I took a few minutes to be quiet and be with the Lord, as I was unable to understand the compassion of God, I began to enjoy it silently, unable to communicate through any means.  When I came out of that bliss as the inspiration came I wrote this song.  Among the many songs that I have written only few will remain my favourite which I cannot forget till the end of my life. This song will be one among them.

BT Song 508

508 Non-understandable Compassion

There is no need for any explanation for your compassion

And we need not even explain your compassion

A baby won’t understand its mother’s love

And there is no word even to utter by the baby

Once we began to understand, then we cannot understand love

Even if we understood that love won’t stand for long

Only by tasting one can understand the taste

Once tasted, even that too will disappear

But your compassion will stand beyond it

And I should come and enjoy it often

Your compassion which will never disappear even after I have tasted

I should receive more and more without having any satisfaction

Though it continue to remain as a riddle to the world

It will remain unclear though I understood it

Understanding falls within the limit of my mind

But the non-understandable compassion will come within the limit of bhakti

That compassion which falls within the limit of bhakti will become clear

Once it is communicated in a language which even the mind cannot understand

Becoming like a babbling of a baby which it utters to its mother

My words also will become one such for you to understand

What kind of explanation is required more than this?

Why should I even try to explain it further?

As you rejoice when I utter it

It is enough if we both understand it.

BT Song 509

Though I enjoy my bhakti in the Lord and value human life as it is the only means for me to have it, sometimes I ask the Lord ‘how long I have to bear the burden of this body and life.  When are you going to come and download this burden’? Like so many I too think that God is only testing me or punishing me whereas others are enjoying a relatively joyful life.  And often I feel that when I beg to remove a certain burden, He adds more to it.  But till the end of my life I will continue to ask God, ‘how long I have to carry YOUR burden’.

BT Song 509

BT Song 509 Unload it

Don’t you know that I have come unto you?

Did you forget that you too came along with me?

Did you forget what you said that you will carry my burden?

Is it correct on your part (now to delay), just only tell that to me

I am not a stranger or a neighbour to you

Why should I carry them?

Once my work is completed you should come

Do I even need to remind this?

Does not mother know about the hunger of her baby

Won’t she keep the food ready even before her baby asks?

Don’t you know the burden of a bhakta?

Do I need to tell you about it many times?

Don’t take me for granted

And don’t forgot what you have done to me before

Don’t you know my adamant nature?

Can’t you even understand what I’m talking about?

Why you have this kind of indifference towards me

And have more concern for others

As I won’t violate your will

Will you share only your burdens with me?

Like a donkey which carries any kind of burden

I carried all these burdens as you gave to me

When I cry that I don’t have any more energy

Why do you add one more on me?

Yet I carry knowing that it is your will

And it is better you too understand this

Once we reached the destiny

Why you further delay to unload my burden

How long I can carry the burden

I request you to unload my burden

The one who came along with me, does he not know

And is it correct on his part to delay further?

Mathigiri, 8-9-16 8.10 am.

BT Song 510

This morning I wrote the previous poem complaining a lot to the Lord as if He is adding more burden on me.  But when I realized that once He is with me, no burden is really a burden. And when I thought about it, I began to sing and praise God and the result is this poem.

BT Song 510

BT Song 510 Celebrate with joy

What kind of a joy

What kind of a joy

How to utter that

What to say about the peace

Which He gave

Amidst all these troubles

When we count

All the blessings

That He has given to us

When we know that

Why He gave them all

We rejoice more

Thinking only our condition

He had mercy upon us

He has done

Only good to us

And when we utter this

Tears over flows

When I thinking about this

As joy

Over flows within me

I called you too

To join me

To proclaiming this with joy
