As I was thinking about the humility of the Lord, I wrote this song. These kinds of poems which we wrote in Tamil are impossible to translate in any other language.

BT Song 527
Again a dry spell here and the standing corps are drying. So farmers lamented about it and said, ‘if the rain didn’t come within a week, this year we won’t harvest much’. In response I said: we all faced a similar situation last year. But that time we prayed and I also wrote a few songs. But this year I am neither praying nor am I writing any poem about it. So the only way to get rain is to threaten God that I will write a poem. If not answering our prayers, at least fearing my poem, God might send some rain’.
So when I was thinking about this, I wrote this song. But as the Kavery water dispute between Tamilnadu and Karnataka brought lots of tension, I wanted to add some of those issues also in my song. So after completing the song, deliberately I added a few more lines.
Amma stands for Jayalalitha, the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. There is only one ‘AMMA’ in Tamilnadu and that is our CM. Interestingly the Tamilnadu Congress men will call Sonia as ‘Annai’ and not amma. Though the opposition parties in Tamilnadu call for an all party meeting, our CM refuses to do it. Similarly appointing any committee in any issue in India won’t work. There is a joke in Tamil, ‘appointing any committee is like putting a stone in the well.’. Committees are constituted not to solve any problem but to drag the issue or put it on the back burner. So I plead to God to listen to me and give our share of rain, whereas there is heavy down pouring of rain in other parts of the country.

The crops are drying; and we are troubled
It is not correct on your part to remain indifferent
Don’t you know our situation and won’t you understand it
And is it good to delay and do we need to worry
Are you a human being so that we need to remind you each day?
What is there for us to argue with you anymore?
Do you have any other work or worries?
And are you not listening to our voice
Much is damaged and little is left
And kindly save this and we told this to you
How many time we complained to you
Why you are not listening to us and why you remain adamant
We cannot leave you to have your own way
And there is no other hope other than you
Can I rebuke you for this delay?
Or can I scold you along with it
Otherwise requesting AMMA@
Can I drag you to the Supreme Court?
Even if we get a favourable judgment in our favour
Can you do what Siddaramaiah# has done?
There is no point of appointing committees
And if we call for a dialogue it will end up in argument
If we go to the court, both will get defeated
Therefore you need to listen to my advice
I cannot do what AMMA has done
And I cannot call for an All Party meeting
We only demand what is our legitimate share

As I went for my evening walk I was thinking about the pain and trials in life. However people call it by any name there is no other choice for us but to live with it. As I was thinking about it, I wrote this song and recorded it on my mobile and later wrote it.

When trials come we should enjoy it
And we should spend the life sport-fully
And making the trials as achievements
We should win with a spirit of ease

As I went for my evening I was thinking about the reality of life which has more suffering and trials than joy and pleasure. But my bhakti in the Lord refuses to accept that it is from God. At the same time the reality of suffering and trial often questions God about the purpose of them in life. As I contemplated it I wrote this song.

வேதனை-சோதனை சாபமும் தானோ
அல்லது வாழ்க்கைக்கு தேவையும் தானோ
சோதனை வேண்டும் வாழ்க்கையை வெல்ல
வேதனை வேண்டும் உன்னிடம் சொல்ல
வேதனை தன்போல் வரவில்லை
வந்தபின் தன் போல செல்வதும் இல்லை
காரணம் தன்னை ஆராய்ந்து பார்க்க
மேலும் மேலும் இன்னும் பெருகும்

Are trails and suffering are curse
Or do we require them in life?
We need trails to win in life
And we need suffering to tell to you
Suffering never comes on its own
Once came, never goes on its own
But if we began to search for the cause
It will further increase
Whatever might be the cause for that?
We need a heart to accept it
How much we blame others for that
We need you to overcome it
There is none on this earth
Who lived without suffering?
There is no other option but
Accept it part of life
There is no need to talk about trails
It will come on its own without being invited
But in order to overcome the trails
We need to come to you seeking your grace
Trials and sufferings are not a curse
But they are not a blessing from you
But without them there is no life
Once we realize this, they never remain burden anymore
But there is no need for us
To carry them on our own

One the member lost its connection
It will automatically wither
Finally it will go away
Automatically from the body
Realizing this truth
And joining properly together
To remain united with you
We need fellowship with other bhaktas
Many are the blessings
If we live together
Once we live together with bhaktas
Anybody can get this noble status
