BT Song 1051
I thought of making some slight changes in my routine life. I considered managing a few household tasks on my own, not depending on others, particularly the neighbor who comes to help me with some household chores and also talks to my mother. I pay for her services. This will keep me busy and provide some exercise. Of course, I already do enough exercise, but I feel the need to do more. However, I am unsure how others will view this change, so I am uncertain whether I should proceed. If I stop taking help and need it in the future, others may not be in a position to assist. I am a bit confused about how to proceed. As I was thinking about it, as usual, I began to blame God for not guiding me in this decision. I know that I do not know, but God, who knows well, should intervene before I make mistakes rather than pointing them out later.
BT Song 1051 – A Naive Person
When I struggle
Without understanding,
Only you should respond—
Who truly comprehends? 1
As I remain unaware,
You must teach me
Thoroughly,
So I may grasp. 2
When you know
Clearly that
I struggle
To comprehend fully. 3
Why do you linger
Like a puzzle,
As if you
Do not understand my plight? 4
You foresee
The outcome
Of all my actions,
As if I comprehend fully. 5
In such scenarios,
Whose fault is it?
Not stopping me
Before I take the plunge. 6
Understanding
Is not easily attained,
As you have said—
Who truly comprehends? 7
Set aside time
To instruct me,
Only you
Can impart this knowledge. 8
I am unable
To seek counsel
And then
Act accordingly. 9
It’s futile
To blame me
And find fault
After I’ve acted. 10
Therefore, be cautious
To prevent this
From happening again
In the future. 11
Intervene
To guide me,
To ensure I understand
Before I proceed. 12

BT Song 1051 – A Naive Person
When I struggle
Without proper understanding
You alone should respond
Who understands well? 1
As I don’t know
You should teach me
Properly
For me to understand 2
When you know
Clearly that
I cannot
Understand properly 3
Why do you remain
As a riddle
As if you
Do not understand (the situation)? 4
You know
The end of all
Which I have done
As if I understood well 5
That being the scenario
Whose fault is it?
Not stopping me
Before I venture to do the task 6
Understanding is
Not an easy thing
As you told me
Who understands well? 7
Setting separate time
To teach me
You alone
Should do it 8
I am not in a position
To consult you
And then
Do things 9
There is no use
Blaming me
Finding fault
After I have done anything 10
So you should be
Very careful
Not to let this
Happen again in the future 11
For this
You should interfere
And stop me to teach
To help me understand 12

BT Song 1052
Fault-finding is not prudent criticism about life or anything else, but most of the time it remains as a disease. Unless one manages to cure it, she will remain a sick person throughout her life.
BT Song 1052 – No Shortcoming
Yet there is content within the heart,
Still, there are shortcomings therein.
Whoever comes to teach and guide,
It often refuses to accept. 1
What can truly be called completeness?
In this unstable life, there are always flaws.
But if we focus solely on that,
Where is the heart to see the content within? 2
How much fullness has God bestowed upon us?
In which He has not left any imperfection?
He even gave us a heart to perceive fullness,
But if we lose sight of it, what can be done? 3
When fault-finding becomes a habit,
Where is the heart to see completeness?
By shifting our focus solely to see fullness,
Where is there any flaw in anything? 4
There is no imperfection in His creation,
No alteration in His laws of nature.
Yet, He never gave us
A heart prone to fault-finding. 5
Recognizing it as a form of mental ailment,
Knowing the means to overcome it,
And understanding His grace,
We should live each day in this manner. 6
Mathigiri, 31-1-2019, 11:10 p.m.
BT Song 1052: No Shortcoming
However, there is content in the heart
Still, there will be some shortcomings in it
Whoever comes and tries to teach
It will refuse to accept it 1
Which one can we call completeness?
As there will be some shortcomings in this unstable life
But if we think only of that
Where will be the heart to see content in it? 2
How much fullness God has given to us?
In which he has kept any shortcomings?
He even gave a heart to see fullness
But if we lost it, what can he do? 3
Once fault-finding becomes a habit
Where will be the heart to see fullness?
By changing it and only seeing fullness
Where will be any shortcoming in anything? 4
There is no shortcoming in his creation
There is no change in his law of nature
But definitely he never gave
A fault-finding heart 5
Knowing that it is a kind of mental disease
Knowing the means to remove it
Added to that, realizing his grace
We should live each day thinking that 6

BT Song 1053
Though comparing one’s life with another person’s life won’t help us in any way, I often compare my life with others and marvel at the way God always gives extra grace in my life. I am fortunate in many ways to live this life as a devotee of the Lord. When I sometimes force myself to compare my life with that of others’, I have nothing to complain to the Lord about. Instead, I see the many special blessings that I have received and enjoy in everyday life. As I was thinking about this, I wrote this song praising the Lord for bestowing this kind of life upon me.
BT Song 1053 – I Should Praise You with a Full Heart
I only ask one thing
In each day
My expectation from you
Is only one thing 1
The unnecessary thoughts
Not ruling my mind
My heart not going to the
End of frustration 2
I should only think
The blessings given by you
My thought should be
Always on you 3
Who can get
This kind of life
Who can receive?
Blessings more than me 4
As everyday life
Is spent in you
Where can I find
Joy in any other thing? 5
When I compare my life
With that of others
I cannot open my mouth
To say anything 6
You never kept
A need to
Compare my life
With that of others’ 7
When I think
What you have bestowed for me
Many questions are
Coming in my mind 8
When I was searching
Answer for that
My heart tells that
It is the grace of god 9
This slave should
Only think that
Then I should praise you
With fullness of my heart 10

BT Song 1054
As I strongly believe that a devotee should regularly read Muktiveda to gain fresh insights that God would give her to know him more deeply and grow in faith, rarely do I miss reading Muktiveda regularly every day. Even if it becomes a mere routine, I still prefer to do it rather than ignore it, thinking that I am familiar with its contents. Since I became a devotee of the Lord, I have been regularly reading Muktiveda (almost 39 years). However, I feel that I have never fully comprehended it. There are still many things for me to discover afresh from the Veda. For me, it is not just another book to read once and then set aside (after taking notes).
BT Song 1054: In Order to Know Anew
As it’s not sufficient
To know only through intellect,
You granted devotion
To comprehend deeply. 1
Yet here I dwell,
With clarity of understanding,
You bid me to grasp
Anew, today. 2
Therefore, you arrive
And teach me again
What I’ve already
Understood. 3
Through this,
To know afresh,
You provide new
Opportunities, endlessly. 4
Thinking I already knew,
And staying aloof,
Will render me stagnant,
Inert. 5
Then, I may
Miss the new experiences
You offer,
My spirit weakening. 6
If the living spring
Flows anew,
Clarity will ensue,
Dispelling stagnation’s grip. 7
For this reason,
The message
Your Veda imparts
Is crucial to me. 8
To receive it,
I must live each day
By regularly reading
Your Veda. 9
As my intellect
Becomes clearer,
Devotion too
Will grow abundantly. 10
Mathigiri, 2-2-19, 11:20 p.m.
BT Song 1054 In order to know anew
As it is not enough
To know only through buddhi
You gave bhakti
To understand well 1
However, I live
With clear understanding
You ask me to understand
Anew today 2
For that, you come
And teach me again
What I have
Already understood 3
Through it
To know anew
You gave new
Opportunity more and more 4
Thinking that
I already knew
And keeping away
Will make me stagnant 5
Then, as I will
Miss the new experience
Which you give
My spirit will become weak 6
If the living fountain
Flows fresh
Clarity will come
Removing the condition of stagnation 7
For that,
The message which
Your Veda gives
Is essential for me 8
To receive it
I should live each day
By reading
Your Veda regularly 9
As my buddhi
Becomes clearer
Bhakti also will
Increase more and more 10

BT Song 1055
We are mere instruments in God’s hand, and he considers only our availability, not our ability. As I reflected on this once again, I wrote this song. He will send people to us to serve, and also send others to serve us when we are in need. However, in both cases, it is God who acts, not our ability to serve or our need for others’ service.
BT Song 1055 Instrument in Your Hand
You alone know
How to do
Which work?
In what way? 1
We must realize
That we are
Only instruments
In Your hand 2
God, who knows
Our every need,
Will never
Abandon us 3
Accepting this,
When we approach Him,
He will never allow
Any shortcomings 4
Many will come,
Many will go
In our lives,
Crossing paths often 5
We should only
Remember God’s act
Of upholding us
By sending them 6
That I have
Witnessed
Many times
In my life 7
Remembering it
With much peace,
I hand myself
Over to Your hands 8
Until the end,
I should remain
Only an instrument
In Your hand 9
When You send me
Into others’ lives,
I should accept it
And act accordingly 10

BT Song 1051

BT Song 1054
BT Song 1055
