After writing the previous song, when I was getting ready to go to bed, I said to myself, “When others have every right to get frustrated about so many issues in life, a sannyasi should not have such frustration, as every struggle in life is part of his penance. His life as a recluse is an opportunity for him to do his penance as he does not have so many other responsibilities which every family person (man or woman) carries with them throughout life. The reason for frustration in my life is that I often forget the call which God has given me. So I need to remember my call every day to continue my life for the Lord.” Then, as the inspiration came, I wrote this song.
BT Song 1146: I Will Live with Joy
1. I thank Thee
For the thought,
The chance bestowed,
To penance undertake,
Living solitary and devout.
2. When wearied by thought,
Questioning my fate,
Why such a life
Was mine to partake.
3. Thy call reminded,
My weariness dispelled,

My heart compelled.

At noble status granted,
A gift from Thee,

Singlehood is not a blessing. At the same time, I won’t call it a curse. But unlike others who live as single persons, a sannyasi needs to live a different kind of life. For him, this life is not merely chosen by him but also given as a gift from God. So each activity in his life is a penance for him which he should celebrate all the time.
BT Song 1147: Do the Penance
1. When penance is clear,
Wherefore hesitation,
Tell my mind,
Accept thy vocation.
2. Though solitary living,
Is not easily done,
To do penance true,
Loneliness is won.
3. By His mercy,
Opportunity given,
Praise Him each day,
For grace from Heaven.
4. Reflect upon blessings,
In such a life found,
Grateful for freedom,
To His call be bound.

“Your ways are not my ways,” says God correctly. All our plans for our life journey never take us to the destiny as we have planned. But once we are ready to walk in the way which the Lord has set for us, we will definitely reach Him. Someone said well that God never promises a safe journey but a safe landing, provided we are ready to walk with Him in His path.
BT Song 1148: Why Hesitate?
1. If this be our journey,
Why should we tarry?
If this be our path,
No hurdle shall parry.
2. Plans we may make,
Changes will ensue,
Paths carefully laid,

BT Song 1148: Why Hesitate?
1. Once it is clear this is the journey,
Why should we hesitate to do it?
Once it is clear this is the path,
Where is any hurdle to walk in it?
2. Whatever plans we might have planned,
How many changes come in them?
However we carefully arrange the path for us,
On the way its direction changes.
3. But when we walk with much peace,
In the path which God has set for us,
How many troubles come in that?
Finally, surely we will reach our goal.
4. There is no such journey,
In which there won’t come any trouble,
But in the journey which God has arranged for us,
We never lose our final goal.
5. If God is our final goal in our journey,
Why should we fear about the path?
How many waves might come and dash,
Surely we will reach the port, why should we worry?
6. Therefore, let us continue the journey he gave us,
Let us walk in the path he set for us along with him.
Unlike the voyage that does not know the port,
We will surely reach the port which is God himself.

I was thinking, “What is my present need?” Then I told the Lord that actually I don’t know about it. As He is there to know about it, why should I even ask? What my present need is a heart which will accept whatever He does, realizing it as the present need. As I was meditating on this thought, inspiration came, and I wrote this song as my prayer and meditation for this day.
BT Song 1149: My Need
1. When my need is unknown,
Better to ask naught,
For Thou know’st my need,
Asking is for naught.
2. Needs I once sought,
Became burdens in end,
Strength failed me,
No more needs to tend.
3. Needs of the body,
Turned against the heart,
When heart sought its need,

1. When I do not know about my need,
It is better not to ask for anything.
When you are there who knows my need,
I think: ‘Why should I even ask for my need?’
2. What all the things I thought are my needs
Finally become a burden, this I understood.
As I don’t have any more strength to carry,
I am afraid to ask further for my need.
3. All that I sought for the need of my body
Turned against the need of my heart.
When my heart searched for its need,
The body refused to accept it.
4. When my soul became tired by struggling with them,
It forgot what its requirement.
Like this, my life was tossed in several directions,
Finally losing direction, it stumbled.
5. At that time, as you came to call me by showing the direction,
Finally, I realized what is my actual need.
Though I came to you seeking it,
Unable to utter it clearly, I stood silently.
6. Therefore, I told about my situation to you,
I give myself to you for you to do accordingly.
Whatever you do realizing my need,
I sought only a heart to accept it.
7. That alone is my present need,
You need to do only that for me.

After doing all my work, when I came to my room, some kind of bliss filled my mind; some kind of joy overcame me; the presence of the Lord filled my heart. So I was not in a mood to read anything—even Muktiveda. So I sat silently, immersing myself in that blissful experience. When I came out of it, inspiration came, and I wrote this song as part of my meditation.
