BT Songs 1206 to 1210

BT Song 1206

Though we seek the presence and blessings of God, until He takes the initiative to come and fill our thoughts and minds, we cannot truly feel His presence and blessings, no matter how hard we try through various means and sadhana. I often realize that before I think about Him, He has already come and filled my thoughts, helping me enjoy His presence in my life. The way He pervades every part and activity of our life is remarkable. For me, there is no difference between mundane and spiritual life. As God pervades every part of life, He arranges for every need—physical, mental, moral, social, and spiritual. It’s essential to realize that He takes the initiative by dwelling in our thoughts and minds before we make any move.

BT Song 1206  BT Song 12BT Song 12You Fill My ThoughtsBT Song 12BT Song 12

Simple English Version

Coming on your own,

Filling my thoughts,

You give the bliss

That I seek.

You join me

In everything I do

In my

Everyday life.

Without any difference

Between inside and out,

You alone guide me

In all that I do.

To care for my body,

Providing food

And also rest,

You protect me.

Knowing the needs

Of heart and mind,

You arrange all activities

Accordingly.

To understand

The importance of human life,

You provide

Various relationships.

Additionally,

To know spiritual life,

You bestow your grace

By becoming a relative.

To rejoice

In that relationship,

You come on your own

And dwell in my thoughts.

Mathigiri, 31-5-2020, 11.45 p.m.

BT Song 1206 Thou Fillest My Thoughts

Classical English Version

Thou comest on thy own,

Filling my thoughts,

Thou givest the bliss

Which I seek.

Thou join’st me

In all I do

In the

Everyday life.

Without any difference

‘Twixt in and out,

Thou alone dost rule

All that I do.

To tend my body,

Providing sustenance

And also rest,

Thou dost protect me.

Knowing the needs

Of heart and intellect,

Thou arrangest all deeds

Accordingly.

To comprehend

The worth of human life,

Thou alone dost bestow

Various bonds.

Moreover,

To know the spiritual life,

Thou grantest thy grace

By becoming a kin.

To rejoice

In that bond,

Thou comest on thy own

And dwell’st in my thoughts.

Mathigiri, 31-5-2020, 11.45 p.m.

BT Song 1207

The problem with God is that when I demand certain things, He becomes very miserly and gives them sparingly. But when I don’t ask for certain things, He gives in abundance, thereby spoiling me. Today, I had a fight with the Lord, asking Him not to spoil me by giving too much of what I never asked for. But if He wants to be generous, there is one area where He needs to show His generosity—controlling my mind. It would be better for Him to consider this and give His grace in abundance without me asking. Hello God, are you listening to this?

BT Song 1207 Give Without Asking

Simple English Version

When I come and beg,

You give miserly.

When I don’t ask,

You give in abundance.

Should I beg?

Or should I keep quiet?

Not knowing this,

You make me confused.

Do I not know

What I need?

Is there anything wrong

With asking accordingly?

If you give on your own,

Won’t it become excess?

Won’t it create

More desire in me?

Don’t spoil me

By giving more than I require,

Then don’t blame me

Unnecessarily.

Don’t try me

By pampering me,

Then don’t get

More trouble because of that.

All that I need

For everyday life,

If you provide them,

That is enough for me.

If you want to show

Excess of your love,

There is a need for that

In one area.

To control the

Uncontrollable mind,

Giving your extra grace

Is good for me.

But what is the use

Of asking for that?

You become miserly

Only in that area alone.

How many times

Do I have to repeat the same?

Therefore it is better

If you give me without asking for it.

Mathigiri, 2-6-2020, 10.30 p.m.

BT Song 1207 Give Without Asking

When I come and plead,

Thou givest sparingly.

When I ask not,

Thou givest abundantly.

Should I entreat?

Or should I stay silent?

Uncertain of this,

Thou makest me perplexed.

Know I not

What my need be?

Is there aught wrong

In asking duly?

If thou giv’st unbidden,

Would it not be excess?

Would it not foster

Greater desire in me?

Spoil me not

By giving more than my need,

Then blame me not

Unjustly.

Try me not

With overindulgence,

Then bring not

More trouble thereby.

All I require

For daily life,

If thou providest,

That sufficeth for me.

If thou wouldst show

Excess of thy love,

There is need for that

In one realm.

To master the

Unruly mind,

Granting thy extra grace

Is well for me.

But what profit

In asking for that?

Thou art miserly

In that alone.

How many times

Must I repeat this plea?

Therefore, ’tis better

If thou giv’st unasked.

Mathigiri, 2-6-2020, 10.30 p.m.

BT Song 1208

Generally, most of my writings address questions I raise to myself. While revising another chapter in “Living Dialogue” (on Canon), I was overwhelmed as many new questions began to challenge my reason. For me, my simple bhakti in the Lord, trusting Him, is more than enough compared to wrestling with numerous theological issues. Of course, we cannot avoid theology, and we need it. But without the help of theologians, a layperson like me cannot understand it. At the same time, the way theologians present so many alternative views often confuses me rather than providing clear guidance. So, after completing my revision and feeling overwhelmed by new questions, I thought it best not to share this chapter or any further chapters, particularly those related to theology, with anyone. I am not confident about what I wrote, and since so many questions remain unanswered, I decided it was better to give up reflecting on such topics and recording them.

During my evening walk, while reflecting on this subject, I began to talk to the Lord. At that moment, the first line of this song came as inspiration. I immediately recorded the first two stanzas of this song on my mobile, and later that night, during my meditation time, I completed the song.

BT Song 1208 Bhakti is Enough

Simple English Version

Though I have sight,

I become a blind person.

Though the path is visible,

I refuse to walk on it.

Though you spoke

Very clearly,

I asked so many

Unnecessary questions.

Keeping the butter

On the crane’s head,

When the sun rises,

The melting butter blinds its eyes.

I tried to

Catch it,

To redeem me,

You spoke

In simple language.

But ignoring your words,

I tried to

Analyze with my intellect,

Doing simple bhakti,

Worshipping you always.

Ignoring those

Who serve others,

Keeping others’ welfare

In their minds,

Reading

So many books,

Doing research

Diligently on them,

Many tried

To make us understand,

By using so many

Magical words.

Running after

Their intellect,

Though I tried

To understand them,

As my intellect

Refused to grasp,

I understood

My limitations.

Then my

Inner eyes opened,

And I saw you

Who dwells within me.

Following you,

Who asked me

To come after you,

I am redeemed.

Simple bhakti

Is enough

To understand your grace.

As my eyes of wisdom opened,

I learned to

Walk in your way.

Mathigiri, 4-6-2020, 11.30 p.m.

BT Song 1208 Bhakti Sufficeth

Classical English Version

Though I have sight,

Yet I am blind.

Though the path is clear,

I refuse to tread it.

Though thou spakest

Most plainly,

I posed so many

Needless questions.

Placing the butter

On the crane’s head,

When the sun ariseth,

The melting butter blinds its eyes.

I sought to

Grasp it,

To redeem me,

Thou spakest

In simple tongue.

But ignoring thy words,

I sought to

Analyze with my intellect,

Practicing simple bhakti,

Worshiping thee always.

Ignoring those

Who serve others,

Mindful of others’ welfare,

Reading many books,

Delving into research

Diligently,

Many sought

To make us understand,

Employing words

Full of magic.

Chasing after

Their intellect,

Though I strove

To comprehend,

My intellect failed,

And I saw my limits.

Then mine

Inner eyes opened,

Beholding thee

Who dwelleth within me.

Following thee,

Who called me

To follow,

I am redeemed.

Simple bhakti

Sufficeth

To grasp thy grace.

As mine eyes of wisdom opened,

I learned to

Walk in thy way.

Mathigiri, 4-6-2020, 11.30 p.m.

BT Song 1209

One reason I pray to the Lord is to unload my burdens upon Him. Of course, He knows even before I ask or tell Him. But more than that, I need to pray so that I can share all my thoughts with Him. I don’t know about others, but for me, constant communication and sharing every thought and frustration help a lot to unload my heart’s burden. Though I can share some of my thoughts with others, it’s my communication with the Lord, even if it’s just babbling, that is a blessing for me.

BT Song 1209 I Need to Share

Simple English Version

Is there any relationship

Without having rights?

Is there any heart

Without sensibility?

I came seeking your relationship

Because of my rights,

Overcome by my senses,

I opened my heart.

There are thousands of messages

For me to share with you.

My heart is longing

To share with you,

But my heart hesitates,

Thinking that

Won’t you know

Before I share?

But I need to share

Even if you already know.

My burden will go

Only when I share.

Though you give

Without me asking,

I will be satisfied

Only when I receive after asking.

There is no use

In sharing with others.

They don’t have the

Ability to understand me.

As you have the capacity

To understand me,

I come to share;

There is no other alternative.

Mathigiri, 10-6-2020, 11.00 p.m.

BT Song 1209 I Need to Share

Classical English Version

Is there any bond

Without having rights?

Is there any heart

Without sensibility?

I sought thy bond

Because of my rights,

Overcome by my senses,

I opened my heart.

There are myriad messages

For me to share with thee.

My heart doth long

To share with thee,

But my heart doth hesitate,

Thinking thus:

Dost thou not know

Before I share?

But I must share

Even if thou knowest already.

My burden shall lift

Only when I share.

Though thou givest

Unasked,

I shall be content

Only when I receive after asking.

There is no use

In sharing with others.

They lack the

Capacity to understand me.

As thou hast the power

To understand me,

I come to share;

There is no other course.

Mathigiri, 10-6-2020, 11.00 p.m.

BT Song 12010

The unstable mind is my constant problem. Whenever I try to meditate, all kinds of thoughts come and disturb me. Though I try my best to overcome it, I often fail. But like dvesha bhakti (bhakti of hate), where the person who hates God always thinks about Him, this unstable mind is also a blessing in disguise for me. As I get frustrated by this chanchal (restless) mind, I often disturb the Lord, asking for His help to overcome it. In a way, it becomes the pretext for me to think of the Lord often. So, as the Lord alone gives thoughts and becomes the subject of those thoughts, even this chanchal mind is a thought from Him for me to think about Him frequently.

BT Song 1210 Frustration/Chanchal is Good

Simple English Version

You become my thought,

The object of my thought.

When I worship your feet,

You fill my heart.

When I come seeking you,

When I worship you,

Then thousands of thoughts

Come like waves.

As my mind gets tossed

Like dust on the waves,

You overcome the waves

And give me peace.

But with a

Restless heart,

I often lose

The peace you give.

Thus I lead

A life of struggle,

With a heart

That never stays steady.

But there is no

Remedy within my grasp.

Unless you come and redeem me,

There is no salvation for me.

You come and redeem me

Again and again,

This becomes

A pattern in my life.

Yet considering

The benefit in this,

I will not be

Greatly disturbed by it.

As you always

Watch over me,

I would say

Even this restlessness is good.

Using it

As an excuse,

I will often come to you

To complain about it.

Because of this,

As I think only of you,

I will only

Always think of you.

Mathigiri, 17-6-2020, 11.00 p.m.

BT Song 1210 Frustration/Chanchal is Good

Classical English Version

Thou art my thought,

The object of my thought.

When I worship thy feet,

Thou dost fill my heart.

When I seek thee,

When I worship thee,

Then myriad thoughts

Come as waves.

As my mind is tossed

Like dust upon the waves,

Thou dost conquer the waves

And bring peace to me.

But with a

Restless heart,

I oft lose

The peace thou givest.

Thus I live

A life of strife,

With a heart

That ne’er stays still.

Yet there is no

Remedy within my grasp.

Unless thou come and redeem me,

There is no salvation for me.

Thou dost come and redeem me

Time and again,

This doth become

A cycle in my life.

Yet considering

The benefit therein,

I shall not be

Unduly troubled by it.

As thou dost ever

Keep watch over me,

I would say

Even this restlessness is good.

Making it

An excuse,

I shall often come to thee

To lament about it.

For this reason,

As I think only of thee,

I shall think

Only of thee always.

Mathigiri, 17-6-2020, 11.00 p.m.

BT Song 1206 நினைவில் நிறைகிறாய்

நீயாக வந்து

நினைவெல்லாம் நிறைந்து

நான்தேடும் ஆனந்தம்

அனுதினம் தருகிறாய்  1

அனுதின வாழ்வில்

செய்திடும் செயல்கள்

அனைத்திலும் என்னுடன்

இணைந்து கொள்கிறாய்  2

அகம் புறமென்ற

பேதமில்லாமல்

அனைத்திலும் நீயே

ஆளுகை செய்கிறாய்  3

உடல்நலம் பேண

உண்டு உறங்க

ஓய்வும் தந்து

என்னைக் காக்கிறாய்  4

மனத்துடன் அறிவின்

தேவையை அறிந்து

அதற்கேற்ற செயல்கள்

அமைத்தும் தருகிறாய்  5

மனித வாழ்வின்

அவசியம் புரிய

பலவித உறவுகள்

நீயே தருகிறாய்  6

அத்துடன் ஆன்மா

வழியை அறிய

நீயே உறவாகி

வந்து அருள்கிறாய்  7

அந்த உறவிலே

அனுதினம் மகிழ

நீயாக வந்து

நினைவில் நிறைகிறாய்  8

கிள்ளி தருகிறாய்

கேட்காமல் இருந்தால்

அள்ளி தருகிறாய்  1

கையேந்தி வருவதா

கேட்காமல் இருப்பதா

என்று புரியாமல்

குழம்ப வைக்கிறாய்  2

என்தேவை எதுவென

எனக்குத் தெரியாதா

அதன்படி கேட்பதில்

தவறேதும் உள்ளதா  3

நீயாகத் தரும்போது

மிதமிஞ்சிப் போகாதா

அதனாலே என்னுள்ளே

பேராசை வாராதா  4

தேவைக்கு மிஞ்சி

தந்து கெடுக்காதே

அதன்பின் என்மீது

வீண்குறை சொல்லாதே  5

செல்லம் தந்தென்னைச்

சோதனை செய்யாதே

அதன்பின்னே வீணாக

வேதனைப் படாதே  6

நீதந்தால் போதும்  7

அதிகமாய் அன்பினைக்

எப்போதும் உன்னையே

நானுமே நினைப்பேனே  11
