I don’t want to call it a break, but I realized that even God might need a break from me, as I have been pestering Him too much by writing poems. For now, I have decided not to write any more poems unless there is an inner compulsion. Although I am still very active both physically and mentally, I have decided to give them both some rest. So tonight, as I sat silently thinking about the Lord, the thought of His peace filled my mind and spirit. Inspired, I wrote this song.

The topic on Fate versus Karma is very complicated. In fact the line that divides between fate and karma is not only very thin but also very zigzag. However one uses any kind of illustration to explain the different between them, for a common man, even for any educated and so called intellect, in real life situation they will easily stumble on this subject. This is a problematic topic not only in Hinduism but in other faiths also. For example in Christianity however they try to differentiate between Free Will and Predestination theologically, not only a normal (and also nominal) Christian but even a theologian cannot clearly distinct several incidents in her life.
But I found one useful illustration from Dr. Radhakrishnan who tried to explain this subject. He said that we cannot choose which cards should come on our hands but it is left with us how we play them now. So one can say safely that fate decides which cards should come in our hands but it is left us to decide the result. Of course one would argue that even how to play also depends upon the fate or based on your past karmas. This is exactly the problem with such complicated topic. One can switch side that suits her purpose. If she wins the game it is her talent but if she losses then she can blame the fate for the cards that came on her hands.
So when one person asked me to explain the different from Fate and Karma after watching a video, after sending my response to him I wrote this song.

One of the scenarios of old age is that we don’t want any change in our routine life. Once we become familiar with the place we live by adjusting both our body and mind, we don’t want to change anything in it. We are satisfied with what we have and prefer to live and die without longing for any kind of new adventure—even in food. So, when I completed my routine today and sat leisurely to spend the rest of the night before retiring to bed, I reflected on this, and as inspiration came, I wrote this song requesting the Lord to grant this life till the end. Though other elderly people may lament about this kind of life, my bhakti in the Lord helps me to think of His grace and thank Him for His guidance in the past, present, and future.

But they too have their limitations, either in communicating or for us to understand them. However, the way bhakti helps us understand our relationship with the Lord goes beyond all kinds of Muktivedic interpretation. It is even beyond mysticism. It is bhakti, just a relationship. Once our atman realizes this, it is better for us not to seek more about it or try to share it with others. Just live in that bhakti—each day in the Lord.
