BT Song 1416
In most faiths, a belief in life after death, in various forms depending on each religious tradition, offers hope to humans, helping them cope with life’s trials. Though life on earth is impermanent, the hope of a permanent abode on the Further Shore helps one accept this life’s impermanence and hope for the best in the hereafter. In this way, it is good that we live only this impermanent life, and we need to thank God for that.
BT Song 1416Eternal Peace
Simple English Version
Living this short life
Every single day
Thinking of your grace
Amidst it all 1
Leaving tomorrow’s life
In your hands
I will live
Praising you 2
There are so many
Worries to lament
There are many
Things to struggle with 3
But there are
More good reasons
To think about
Your grace 4
Though I lament
Sharing many things
To lighten my load
To ease my burden 5
The burden that left
Will return
As long as
Life exists 6
Thinking of your grace
Always in my heart
When I sing
Praising you 7
It will bring peace
To my heart
Which will sustain me
Now and forever 8
Thinking what will happen
If this short life
Becomes permanent
In the end 9
Luckily, by giving
An impermanent life
You protect us
Every single day 10
Once we come
We must go
What is the use
Of thinking about the past 11
When there is
An eternal life
Why worry
Too much about this life 12

BT Song 1416Eternal Peace
Classical English Version
Living this fleeting life
Each and every day
Contemplating thy grace
In all my ways 1
Tomorrow’s life I leave
Within thy sacred hand
I will live and breathe
Thy praises ever grand 2
There are myriad woes
To bemoan with sighs
There are countless throes
With which to vie 3
But there are far more reasons
Thy grace to contemplate
In every season
Thy love to celebrate 4
Though I lament aloud
Many things I share
To lighten my heavy load
To ease my burdened care 5
The burden that was gone
Will yet return anew
As long as life goes on
Beneath this earthly blue 6
Thy grace within my heart
Forever I shall sing
Thy praises to impart
Thy peace within shall bring 7
It shall establish peace
Permanent and pure
My heart shall find release
Now and evermore 8
What shall be our fate
If this fleeting life’s strife
In permanence doth wait
Eternally in life 9
Fortune smiles indeed
By giving life’s brief stay
Thy protection we need
Each and every day 10
Once we come, we must go
What profit is there found
In mourning o’er the flow
Of days already drowned 11
When eternal life doth await
Why should we worry thus
Why should we contemplate
Too deeply this present fuss 12

BT Song 1417
We cannot create a COSMIC IMPERSONAL GOD [or Christ for Christians] out of Muktiveda. God, as a PERSON, did not remain apart from His creation but participated in its history, acting through human agencies to reveal His nature. In this process, one cannot deny the historicity of Muktinath, who, with His identity as a Jew, came at a particular time with a divine purpose and mission. Those who take Muktiveda seriously must accept this historical fact, even if their particular worldview, like mine, finds it difficult to digest the historical reality of a specific identity of God. To understand Muktinath’s nature and mission, it is not enough to read the Gospels account [along with later writings in Uttara Veda {NT}]; one should also listen to the echoes in the Purvaveda about Him. Otherwise, her understanding will never be complete, paving the way for speculative interpretations of His life and mission. This book, “Richard B. Hays, Echoes of Scripture in The Gospels,” helps any serious student of Muktiveda.
However, for someone like me who finds it difficult to accept the Jewish identity of the Lord, many questions arise.
If we believe in the Sovereignty of God, can we limit Her or Him within a time frame and history? If one must listen to the echoes of Purvaveda to understand the Gospels, should one limit that echo only to Purvaveda, or can it extend further beyond it? As I contemplated this point, I wrote this song, expressing that I had an eternal relationship with God even before creation, without name and form. To give a name and form, God not only created me but also came as human to help me understand it clearly. Otherwise, the incarnation as a human does not make sense to me. Thus, I cannot limit God’s sovereignty within the boundaries of Scripture and history and must go beyond them to understand and celebrate my relationship with Him.
BT Song 1417: A Form to Relationship
Simple English Version
Tell me when I never
Sought you
Why you came
Seeking after me? 1
Whatever you might say
I cannot understand
Till this time
I don’t know the reason for that 2
You said you came
Seeking after the sinner
And you redeemed
What was lost 3
But my part
Is nothing in this
You helped me
To understand this alone 4
There alone
A riddle has come
Therefore a
Confusion came within me 5
What will you gain
By redeeming me
If you didn’t redeem me
What would I lose? 6
Is there any reason
Beyond devotion and liberation
Or beyond
Heaven and hell? 7
My heart tells
That alone is true
As you do not deny this
I clearly understand it 8
We have a relationship
That cannot be separated
It stands beyond
Any kind of understanding 9
This very birth
That came in between
Though it might perish with this body
This relationship will continue 10
To give a form
To the relationship
Which does not have a form
You created me in your image 11
Though countless
Lives are in this world
Remembering the relationship
That you have with me 12
You also came like me
In human form
And again
Joined me with you 13
Then I understood
The reason for saving me
But I don’t have enough
Words to explain it 14
To understand
The meaning of the formless relationship
You gave it form
By creating me 15
Not to go away from you
And to remain with you always
You came voluntarily
To redeem me 16
To understand this, going beyond
Vedanta, Siddhanta
Or any kind of
Philosophies 17
Without needing
Any other explanation
I mingled with you
In this relationship 18

BT Song 1417 A Form to Relationship
Classical English Version
Tell me, when I never
Sought thee,
Why thou didst come
Seeking after me? 1
Whatever thou might say
I cannot comprehend,
To this day
I know not the reason why. 2
Thou saidst thou camest
Seeking after the sinner,
And thou redeemedst
That which was lost. 3
But my part
Is nothing in this;
Thou gavest me
Understanding of this alone. 4
There alone
A riddle hath arisen,
Therefore hath
Confusion entered me. 5
What shalt thou gain
By redeeming me?
If thou redeemst me not,
What shall be my loss? 6
Is there any reason
Beyond devotion and liberation,
Or beyond
Heaven and hell? 7
My heart declares
This alone is true,
As thou deniest it not,
I understand it clearly. 8
We have a relationship
That cannot be sundered,
It stands beyond
All manner of comprehension. 9
This very birth
That came in between,
Though it may perish with this body,
This bond shall endure. 10
To give form
To the formless bond,
Thou createdst me
In thine image. 11
Though countless lives
Exist in this world,
Thou dost remember the bond
Thou hast with me. 12
Thou camest also as a man,
In human guise,
And again
Didst join me to thee. 13
Then did I understand
The reason for my redemption,
Yet words fail me
To express it fully. 14
To comprehend
The meaning of the formless bond,
Thou gavest it form
By creating me. 15
Not to be parted from thee,
But to remain ever with thee,
Thou camest of thine own will
To redeem me. 16
To understand this, beyond
Vedanta, Siddhanta,
Or any other
Philosophies. 17
Needing no other
Explanation,
I am merged with thee
In this relationship. 18

BT Song 1418
While reading from the Uttara Veda as part of my daily Sadhana, the last verse of Mark 6 caught my attention. I realized that though many people came to the Lord and even touched Him, only those who touched with faith received healing. As my imagination soared, I wrote this song reflecting my own situation long ago, as I too stood away with the crowd, doubting others.
BT Song 1418 Nothing is There to Give
If one touches
The edge of your cloth,
All the diseases
Will be gone. 1
Thinking like this,
Many came to you,
And all those who touched
Received healing. 2
But those who
Stood far away,
Wondering what
Was really happening, 3
Came close to you
And tried to touch you,
But still stood away
With much hesitation. 4
Suppose we touch the cloth
And are healed,
Then what would be
The cost for that? 5
Thinking like this
With much fear,
They asked others [who were healed],
“What is the price for it?” 6
“We didn’t have
Anything else
To give Him
Other than our sickness! 7
As the diseases went away
When we touched Him,
There is no shortage
Of the grace we received.” 8
By telling this,
As they began to follow you,
The rest who stood away,
Though hesitant, 9
They again
Began to think,
What kind of
Wonder is this? 10
Anything that comes
Freely in life
Will never remain
Permanently with us. 11
Having this doubt,
They went away from the Lord,
They also pitied
Others [who received healing freely]. 12
I too stood with them
With much hesitation,
Still with some fear,
I came to you. 13
Without any courage to touch you,
And at the same time unable to leave,
I was even afraid
To look at your face. 14
Understanding my heart
And pitying my condition,
You voluntarily touched me
By stretching out your hand. 15
Then I realized
The cost you paid for that,
Nothing is equal
To that. 16
Once the principle
And interest belong to you,
Then I have
Nothing to give you back. 17

BT Song 1418 Nothing is There to Give
Classical English Version
If one toucheth
The hem of thy garment,
All ailments
Shall depart. 1
Thinking thus,
Many came unto thee,
And all who touched
Were healed. 2
But those who
Stood afar off,
Pondering what
Was truly happening, 3
Drew near to thee
And tried to touch thee,
Yet still stood back
With much hesitation. 4
Suppose we touch the garment
And are healed,
Then what would be
The cost thereof? 5
Thinking thus
With great fear,
They asked others [who were healed],
“What is the price for it?” 6
“We had naught
Else to give Him
Save our sickness! 7
As the diseases fled
When we touched Him,
There was no lack
Of the grace we received.” 8
Speaking thus,
As they began to follow thee,
The rest who stood away,
Though hesitant, 9
Again
Began to ponder,
What manner of
Marvel is this? 10
Anything that comes
Freely in life
Shall never remain
Permanently with us. 11
With this doubt,
They departed from the Lord,
They also pitied
Others [who received healing freely]. 12
I too stood with them
With much hesitation,
Yet with some fear,
I came unto thee. 13
Lacking the courage to touch thee,
And unable to depart,
I was even afraid
To look upon thy face. 14
Understanding my heart
And pitying my condition,
Thou didst voluntarily touch me
By stretching forth thy hand. 15
Then I realized
The price thou paid for that,
Nothing is equal
To it. 16
Once the principal
And interest are thine,
Then I have
Nothing to give thee back. 17

BT Song 1419
This is a constant struggle in my life since becoming a devotee of the Lord. Though I try my best to remain transparent, I still feel that I am not completely transparent. There are many reasons for this. Whatever they might be, now the Lord has to help me overcome this feeling within me. Otherwise, though I may not act outwardly, the same thoughts and feelings will continue to harass me. So, there is no other option but to place the responsibility in His hands and remind Him that He alone should take responsibility.
BT Song 1419 Continue to Pretend
Simple English Version
Though I
Deceive others
By acting,
Putting on a mask, 1
When I remove
The mask,
I know well that
I alone am deceived. 2
But this play
Will continue,
And you know
The reason for that. 3
If I fear others,
Then I must wear the mask.
If I fear you,
Then I should remove the mask. 4
I am frustrated,
Torn between
These extremes,
Seeking deliverance from this. 5
Fearing on one side
About others
And fearing on the other side for you,
Then fearing seeing my condition. 6
Hating this kind of life,
Thinking, “What a life is this!”
I came to you,
Thinking of your grace. 7
Can’t you remove
This fear in my heart,
You who have removed
The fear of death? 8
Can’t you help me
To remain normal,
Not acting by
Putting on a mask? 9
Knowing my condition,
Why this much delay?
But there is no answer,
Even after I lament this much. 10
Whatever the reason
That you might have,
What you do is
Not acceptable. 11
If you give refuge,
Then act accordingly,
Or give me
The reason for that. 12
If you continue to provide [new masks],
I have to act again.
What else can I do? 13
But you alone
Should accept responsibility
For all the
Consequences of that. 14

BT Song 1320
As the present caretaker will get married on September 5th, she will stop coming at the end of this month. Though her mother, who has been taking care of my mother since June, assured me that she would manage without her daughter’s help, I know it will not be easy for everyone to adjust, as she has many other responsibilities at home. So, as usual, I began to worry and plan various alternative arrangements. But shifting from the ashram won’t work well for us, considering our age and needs. As all these thoughts began to challenge me, I took them all to the Lord and poured out my heart to Him, asking Him to be with me as before and help me overcome all the hurdles in taking care of my mother and continue to live here in the ashram. At the end of my meditation, I wrote this song as my prayer for the day.
BT Song 1320 I Should Overcome
Simple English Version
When you bestow
Company and courage,
Why should I
Hesitate further? 1
When you are
With me all the time,
Why should I walk
With hesitation? 2
Whatever might come,
When I have the conviction
That your grace is there,
I have faith. 3
I believe that
Anything that might come
Will be
For my good. 4
Nothing will come
To trouble me
As you are there
To protect me. 5
Having the confidence that
Whatever trials might come,
I will definitely
Overcome them. 6
Though you test me
In the fire of trials,
I will come back shining
By your grace. 7
How can any trials
Come only to me
That never came
Before to others? 8
Even if some new trials
Come only for me,
You alone should
Prepare me well in advance. 9
Along with that,
Accompanying me,
You should stand by my side
To overcome them. 10
We both, fighting together,
Completely overcoming them,
We both should
Establish our victory. 11

ஜெயக்கொடி நாட்டணும் 11
