BT Song 1611
Tonight, I recalled D. L. Moody’s statement about being filled with the Holy Spirit but still leaking. I told the Lord that I will remain a leaking vessel till the end. However, I need not worry about it, as I receive grace from a living fountain that never dries up. It is not like seasonal rain or a well that might dry up during a drought. Reflecting on this thought, I wrote this song.
1611 No Worry About Spilling
Simple English
Pour from one side,
Even when it fills,
It leaks from the other side,
Flowing out.
2.
My situation
Is like this,
If given this way,
Any way is fine.
3.
Like water
That flows continuously,
Like a well
That never dries up.
4.
It should be given
Without measure,
The heart must overflow,
And pour out.
5.
Like rain
That keeps falling,
Like clouds
That come and go.
6.
Without stopping,
I must watch,
Always wanting
Your grace.
7.
To decrease
By giving more
It is not wealth
That stored up.
8.
This is not
A body of water
To flow and
Then to dry up
9.
Coming near
The spring of life,
And saying
Need more.
10.
Without pause,
It must flow,
And always
Fill me.
11.
Even when I tried
To stop the leak,
Easily,
It didn’t happen.
12.
When you are there
To give,
No need to worry
About the leak.

1611 No Concern Over Leakage
Classical English
As one side is filled,
Though it seems full,
The other side spills,
And overflows beyond.
2.
My state is such,
As this condition persists,
If it is given so,
Any way it works.
3.
Like water that ceaselessly flows,
Or a well whose waters never dwindle,
So too must the stream
Remain abundant.
4.
It must be bestowed
Without end,
Let the heart brim
And overflow in plenty.
5.
Like rain that does not cease,
Or clouds that move
And return,
So too it should be.
6.
Without delay,
I must gaze upon it,
And ever seek
Thy grace.
7.
To decrease
By giving more
It is not wealth
That stored up.
8.
This is not
A body of water
To flow and
Then to dry up
9.
Approaching the source of life,
I say,
There is still more
That is needed.
10.
Without a break,
It must come forth,
And forever
Fill me.
11.
Though I sought
To seal the leak,
Easily,
It did not happen.
12.
As long as Thou
Art there to give,
No worry arises
About the leak.

BT Song 1612
Another struggle to understand myself. Yet, I find comfort in knowing that God Himself created me without fully considering the consequences. Since we both sail on the same boat, I need not worry about my lack of self-understanding. On one hand, my reasoning questions many aspects of my life. On the other hand, my bhakti keeps me anchored in my relationship with my Guru. Perhaps too much reading and the absence of someone to discuss these matters with contribute to my confusion. As I struggle to convey my thoughts clearly, either through my writings or speech, it’s natural that others may lose interest in understanding me or addressing this need in my life. However, since I can still talk about these issues with the Lord, I am content to live with this lack of self-understanding.
1612 I Don’t Understand
Simple English Translation
My mind refuses
To understand,
If I tell you,
No reply comes.
2.
Asking others
Is pointless,
So it’s best
To remain silent.
3.
I’ve lived until now
Without understanding,
Even if I understand now,
What’s the use?
4.
After realizing this,
You said,
“This is how it is,”
But when did you say that?
5.
Each person’s burden
Is heavy for them,
So why should
You worry?
6.
After that,
You came to me,
And made me
Understand your state.
7.
After creating you
Without understanding,
I now suffer,
Brooding over it.
8.
After making mistakes
In understanding,
How can I
Understand you now?
9.
Explaining your state,
Both our situations
Are the same,
In the end.
10.
If I’m the reason
For this,
Then what’s left
To understand?
Gurukulam, 24-5-2024, Night, 11:00 PM
1612 Unfathomable
Classical English Translation
My mind refuses
To grasp the truth,
If I confide in thee,
No answer comes forth.
2.
Seeking others
Is futile indeed,
Thus silence
Is best kept.
3.
Living till now
In ignorance,
Even if I now comprehend,
What worth has it?
4.
After realization dawned,
Thou said,
“This is the way,”
But when didst thou utter so?
5.
Each bears their burden,
Heavy to themselves,
Why then should
Thy worry arise?
6.
Afterward, thou
Didst come to me,
And made me perceive
Thy plight.
7.
After creating thee
Without understanding,
Now I languish,
Brooding over it.
8.
Having erred
In comprehension,
How can I
Now fathom thee?
9.
In explaining thy state,
Our fates,
Though distinct,
Are yet united.
10.
If I am the cause
Of this,
What remains now
To discern?

BT Song 1613
Another tussle with God, accusing Him of not being present until the end of each task. Of course, God helps those who help themselves, as my father often said: “We can stretch our hand only as far as it can reach, then you must climb to reach the top.” This is true with God as well. But when tiredness sets in, both physically and mentally, human nature tends to either give up on the task or seek help. For a bhakta, abandoning God-given responsibilities isn’t an option, so we naturally expect Him to respond to our SOS calls. Otherwise, He end up paying an extra price for His perceived indifference.
1613 Your Duty
Simple English
The duty assigned to me
Still remains,
I am aware of it,
And I’m mindful of it too.
2.
To fulfill it,
What must you do?
Do you have
Any thoughts on that?
3.
Don’t think
All of that
Is just for me
And forget about it.
4.
Don’t assume
That I can do it
All by myself,
And leave me be.
5.
I remember
That I must do
My duty,
That much I know.
6.
But before
I proceed,
Do you remember
Your part in it?
7.
You said
You’d come and help,
And that’s why
You gave me these tasks.
8.
Now you’ve forgotten
What you said,
Your focus has turned
Elsewhere, and you’ve forgotten me.
9.
When I’m halfway
Across the well,
How can I
Stop in between?
10.
Do you think
I can cross
The rest alone
If you leave me midway?
11.
Still, I’ll try
To make it,
But if I fall
Into the well, I’ll call for you.
12.
After that,
The burden will double,
So help me
Cross the rest.
13.
If not,
Come down into the well
And at least
Find a way to rescue me.
Gurukulam, 26-5-2024, Night 11:45 PM
1613 Thy Duty
Classical English
My duty
Still remains,
I am aware of it,
And mindful as well.
2.
To fulfill it,
What must thou do?
Dost thou have
Any thought of that?
3.
Do not think
That all of it
Concerns only me,
And forget.
4.
Do not assume
That I alone
Can complete it,
And leave me thus.
5.
My duty
I must fulfill,
This I remember,
And hold in mind.
6.
But ere I proceed,
Dost thou recall
Thy share
In this task?
7.
Thou didst promise
To come and assist,
And thus
Bestowed upon me these duties.
8.
But now thou forgettest
What thou hast said,
Thy mind
Turns elsewhere, forgetting me.
9.
When I am halfway
Across the well,
How can I
Halt midway?
10.
Dost thou believe
That I can cross
The remainder alone,
If thou dost leave me so?
11.
Yet still I shall strive
To cross,
But if I fall
Into the well, I shall call for thee.
12.
Thereafter the burden
Shall double,
So help me
Cross the rest.
13.
If not,
Descend into the well,
And at least
Find a way to rescue me.

BT Song 1614
While our bhakti and the particular way we find answers to our needs may be right for us, we are obligated to share our solutions with others who struggle with similar questions in life. However, there is no place for “conversion” or imposing our method as the only correct one. While accepting our responsibility, we should also be sensitive to others’ approaches in finding their own solutions to life’s problems. If they seek us, then we can share our bhakti. If needed, we can share our solutions unasked, even at the risk of being misunderstood, but we must leave them the choice to accept or reject it. As Prophet Muhammad correctly said, “There is no compulsion in religion.” There should be no compulsion, even in forcing them to listen to us or, worse, to accept our way.
1614 All is Yours
Simple English Translation
Is this the right path?
I do not know.
How to understand it?
I do not comprehend.
2.
Having walked many paths,
Understood a few,
In the end,
I came to the devotion you gave.
3.
Then I realized,
This is for me,
Following that path,
I found peace.
4.
Of the paths
Humans have made,
You did not
Reject or push any aside.
5.
Each follows
Their own path,
Knowing that
They will come to you.
6.
No path
Is superior,
But none
Is free from danger.
7.
Yet, walking with them,
You guide them,
And in the end,
You lead them to the shore.
8.
So, changing
Another’s path,
And telling them
To follow ours,
9.
Calling mine
And yours the way,
Interrupting
Their journey,
10.
Is unnecessary stumbling,
We don’t need it,
And we shouldn’t
Cause others to stumble either.
11.
For me, devotion
Fits well,
For you,
Seek what suits you.
12.
After realizing this,
I understood
That every path
Leads to you.
Gurukulam, 27-5-2024, Afternoon 2:40 PM
1614 All Belongs to Thee
Classical English Translation
Is this the true path?
I know it not.
How to discern it?
I cannot grasp.
2.
Having tread many ways,
Understanding a few,
At last,
I came to the devotion thou hast given.
3.
Then realization dawned,
“This is for me,”
Following that way,
I found peace profound.
4.
Of the paths
That mankind has made,
Thou didst not
Reject or discard any.
5.
Each follows
Their destined way,
Knowing that
They shall reach thee.
6.
No path
Is exalted,
Yet none
Is free from peril.
7.
Yet, walking with them,
Thou guidest them,
And at the end,
Thou bringest them ashore.
8.
Thus, altering
Another’s course,
And bidding them
Follow ours,
9.
Calling mine
And thine the way,
Disrupting
Their journey,
10.
Is needless stumbling,
We require it not,
And we should not
Cause others to falter.
11.
For me, devotion
Is fitting,
For thee,
Seek thine own path.
12.
When this understanding
Came to me,
I realized
That all ways lead to thee.

BT Song 1615
Some believe that I have completely changed from my initial understanding of the Gospel and have almost become like a liberal. There is some truth to that. However, I resist being categorized as ‘liberal,’ ‘orthodox,’ or ‘fundamentalist.’ I am a blend of all these perspectives. These labels others place on me reflect their own shifting understanding of the changes in my beliefs. On the one hand, the more I read the Muktiveda and reflect deeply on it, the more it strengthens my devotion to Him. Yet, my reasoning challenges various aspects that arise from reading a wide range of books—both Christian and Hindu. Despite this, I firmly believe that the transformation within me, from my initial devotion to where I am now, helps me remain steadfast in the Lord rather than causing me to waver in my relationship with Him.
Communicating or helping others understand this journey is a difficult task, and I’ve come to realize that it may no longer be necessary. He knows me, and I know that He knows. What other kind of understanding do I need to live in Him?
1615 I Have Changed
Simple English
1.
They said I have changed,
Those who knew me,
Saying I am
Not like before.
2.
There is some truth
In what they said,
I too feel
That I have changed.
3.
Yet, what change
Has come over me,
That none
Seem to understand.
4.
In thought or conviction,
Where did it occur?
None knew,
And none could see.
5.
The change they saw
And the change I felt
Were not
One and the same.
6.
After this realization,
I began to understand
The change I had,
A little more clearly.
7.
Yet, the change they saw,
None came
And spoke to me about it,
Leaving me in silence.
8.
Thus, to express
The change I experienced,
I found no chance
To voice it.
9.
Therefore, the change
Given by God,
Cannot be explained
Without alteration.
10.
If change alone
Remains unchanged,
Then perhaps change
Is a good thing.
11.
The unchanging Lord
Who brings change,
Has changed even me,
Who thought I couldn’t change.
12.
Without forgetting
The grace He gave,
I sing of it
Without alteration.
Gurukulam, 3-6-2024, Night 11.30 PM
1615 Transformed, I Am
Classical English
1.
They say I have changed,
Those who once knew me,
Claiming that I am
No longer as I was before.
2.
There is some truth
In their words,
For even I
Perceive the change within.
3.
Yet, what transformation
Has truly occurred,
That none around
Seem to fathom?
4.
In thought or resolve,
Where did it happen?
None knew,
None could discern.
5.
The change they perceived
And the change I bore,
Were not
One and the same.
6.
After this revelation,
I began to grasp
The change within me
More distinctly.
7.
Yet, the change they observed,
None spoke of it
Directly to me,
Leaving it unsaid.
8.
Thus, to declare
The transformation I underwent,
I found no opportunity
To convey it.
9.
Hence, the transformation
Granted by the Divine,
Remains ineffable
Without further change.
10.
If change alone
Is constant,
Then perhaps change
Is indeed good.
11.
The unchanging God
Who brings transformation,
Has altered even me,
Who believed I could not be altered.
12.
Without forgetting
The grace bestowed,
I sing of it
With unwavering praise.

ஒரு பக்கம் ஊற்றி
நிறைத்த போதும்
மறு பக்கம் கசிந்து
