BT Song 1686
I have enjoyed reading since my teenage years. After becoming a devotee of the Lord, I read even more—seeking to know Him better. Yet, many of the books I read, I no longer remember in detail. Still, they each left their own impact on me.
That’s why, when I read controversial works—whether from liberal thinkers or extreme exclusivists—they don’t disturb my conviction in the Lord. This is because I first found Him as my Guru, not as a concept of “God” imagined and projected by various religions.
So, although theologies and philosophies about God and related subjects are impressive and have helped me a great deal—both in my spiritual journey and in satisfying my inquiring mind—ultimately, the love I first experienced with my God remains the only true foundation on which I continue to build my theology of bhakti.
After completing two books—God’s Rivals by Gerald R. McDermott and Discovering God by Rodney Stark—I took notes and recorded my reflections. As I continued to meditate on them, I wrote this song.
BT Song 1686 – What Is Your Thought
I didn’t know what was happening,
But You came to me.
Without knowing who You were,
I bowed at Your feet. 1
After that, to know You more,
I read many kinds of books,
Explored many teachings—
Searching through them all. 2
All of them gave
Different kinds of messages.
Taking all I gathered,
I came back to You. 3
Then I asked You,
“What do You think
About all these things
That I have learned?” 4
You asked me,
“What have you learned so far?
And how much of that
Did you really understand?” 5
“Each person explains
What they understand.
If I ask you now,
What will you say?” 6
After He said that,
I stopped just asking,
And began to search
On my own. 7
Then I understood clearly
That what He said
Was indeed true—
In its own way. 8
So now, whatever others say,
I hold on to that one thing
He alone told me,
And keep it in my heart. 9
I keep learning more
To understand better.
I worship Him
And praise Him continually. 10

BT Song 1687
Over the past few days, I was deeply engaged in reading and taking notes from a book. I wanted to complete the work before leaving for my journey on the 7th. So, aside from my routine responsibilities, I didn’t spend time on anything else.
Tonight, after finishing that work, I sat quietly, reflecting on the subject I had been reading and my relationship with the Lord. The more I read scholarly works, the more I realize how empty intellectual discussions can be without a personal relationship with God—whom we often try to confine within our own frameworks of religion, theology, philosophy, culture, and tradition.
Then I said to the Lord: The time I spend with You is far more joyful than all these activities—why should I seek anything else more than You? Moved by that thought, I wrote this poem as a prayer.
BT Song 1687 Why Seek Anything Else?
1
When this alone is
A true blessing to me,
What reason is there
To look for anything else?
2
When your presence feels
So great and complete,
What chance is there
To leave and go away?
3
Whatever I do,
I do it for you,
Thinking of you
Every single day.
4
Living in this world
Is all for this reason,
When I realize this,
I feel deep joy.
5
I set aside
The noise of the world,
And quiet the voice
Inside my heart.
6
When I patiently wait
To hear your gentle words,
I find comfort
In that waiting.
7
For anything that
Engages heart and mind,
Without any doubt,
I rest in your feet.
8
In the soul I feel
Peace and calmness,
And within that,
I give myself fully.
9
Waiting in rapture,
With full delight,
I seek nothing else
Ever again.

BT Song 1688
After returning to the ashram from my long trip to the North, I sat quietly this evening and began thinking about my life here—especially life without my mother. Then I began to cry.
Though the rest of the evening went on as usual with other duties, later at night, before going to bed, I sat down for meditation. Once again, thoughts of my mother filled my heart. This time, I poured out my grief to the Lord in the form of this song.
BT Song 1688 – You Must Comfort
When there’s no one
To fill a mother’s place,
And no clear path
To understand one’s state— 1
This heart begins to wilt,
Alone in its pain.
May You come seeking me
And gently help me. 2
Even when the world says,
“This is just an illness,”
And I say myself,
“This is deep sorrow,” 3
There’s no strength left
To bear this separation,
Yet there’s no way
To live without love. 4
Even the soul
Must leave the body,
And even the world
Must leave the soul one day— 5
But still there exists
A bond that cannot break.
How can I forget
Such a love? 6
A mother-child bond
May stand alone,
But even so,
Your bond is just like that. 7
So now, You must
Become like a mother,
And console this child
Who is weary and worn. 8

BT Song 1689
After writing the previous song, in which I poured out my heart over the loss of my mother, I began to feel a sense of peace—both in my heart and in my mind. Then, I found myself moved to thank and praise God. As inspiration flowed, I wrote this song as an offering of praise.
BT Song 1689 Inspired to Prais
I don’t know how to think,
I can’t act clearly,
My mind is confused
While I go on living. 1
You became my thought
And made me act;
Thought and action
Began to move as one. 2
My actions improved,
My thoughts became clear;
Placing You in my mind,
I was moved to praise. 3
That I came, that I lived,
Was not in vain—
Your grace alone
Helped me understand that. 4
I came for You,
I lived for both of us,
We joined as one—
Forever for us. 5
Once this thought
Entered deep in me,
My actions grew better
And kept improving. 6
So now my thoughts
And deeds are Yours—
I’ll celebrate life
Always for others. 7

BT Song 1690
Another song of contention with the Lord.
The challenge in life is not simply that we lack answers, but that sometimes we already know the answer even before asking the question. Yet, expressing that same thought again in the form of a question brings a strange kind of relief to my mind.
It feels as though God gives the answer first—long before we are even able to articulate the question.
BT Song 1690 – How Should One Live?
The time I spend
Talking with me is short,
But the arguments You have
With me are far too many. 1
When You naturally
Begin to argue,
What words do I even
Have to speak in return? 2
The reason I don’t
Argue back with You—
You definitely know
Very well yourself. 3
It’s not that I don’t know
How to argue at all,
Nor do I lack
Words to respond. 4
If I don’t understand,
Life seems simple;
But once I understand,
Everything feels confused. 5
Between these two,
Which one is right?
Even now, the answer
Still feels unclear. 6
To live after understanding—
Feels impossible.
To understand after living—
What use is that? 7
Caught in between,
I go on living;
Besides continuing on,
What other way is there? 8
Life just seems
To keep running away.
From now on, knowing this,
What should I do? 9
This right now
Is my argument.
If You have an answer,
You must speak it. 10
Should I understand first, then live?
Or live first, then understand?
Or is this life
Something You gave me? 11
Whatever the answer is,
I haven’t found it yet.
But somehow,
You must give me one. 12

BT Song 1686 –
