BT Song 1716
I got up again very early—around 2:00 a.m.—despite having managed to fall asleep only by 1:00. I first spent some time working on my laptop, but soon became too tired and went back to bed. Unable to sleep again, I got up, made myself a cup of tea, and sat quietly, immersing myself in the calmness around me.
Then my anima [blame Carl Jung for this term; I had recently watched a video on his Red Book] began to reflect on my past and present. As inspiration arose, I wrote this song.
Just as a cow must re-chew the grass it grazes throughout the day in order to digest it and produce milk, so it is with our anima. Though filled with blessings from God, unless we chew on them—recalling them often—we cannot receive the full benefit of that grace in the present.
BT Song 1716 – The Ruminating Heart
All that You’ve done before,
When I begin to ponder,
My ruminating heart
Starts longing for Your feet.
And all the good I gained
Through those past deeds I recall—
Each blessing brings a song
Of praise and love to You.
Like the grazing cow
That calmly chews again,
My heart begins to ruminate—
And finds its silent cause.
Though the belly’s full,
Still, only when it chews the cud,
Will the cow yield milk—
So too with deeper gain.
Just so, my heart reflects
On what it once has done—
And from that gentle rumination
Love and faith increase.
Though daily I may wait
For blessings yet to come,
Without a ruminating heart,
How can I be fulfilled?
The cow, by nature, knows
To ruminate with ease—
But my own mind, alas,
Still lags behind that grace.
So, Master, I now pray:
Please place within my soul
That sacred law of nature—
To ruminate like them.
Then day by day, O Lord,
Your blessings will descend—
And this unworthy heart
Will grow to be prepared.
And if You grant this grace,
Then day by every day,
My ruminating heart
Will turn to You alone.

BT Song 1717
“Shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?” (John 18:11b).
When I read this verse in Muktiveda, I closed the book and sat silently, meditating on its meaning. Then I said to myself, “Shall I not carry the burden that the Lord has given me?”
But it is not a physical burden; it is an inner one—both mental and spiritual. Sometimes, it becomes too heavy for me to carry; at other times, it gives me deep joy. This reflection gave birth to this song, which serves as both my prayer and meditation.
BT Song 1717 – Who can carry?
1.
The load You laid for me is great,
Too vast to bear at normal rate.
Yet still I bear, no path I see—
And why I bear is clear to me.
2.
None lives on earth without some weight,
No soul escapes the burdened state.
To bear one’s load with others’ load—
Is not an easy sharing road.
3.
You saw my load and added more,
And placed Your weight upon my core.
Yet as I bore what seemed too much,
You held me up with hidden touch.
4.
Why do You play this strange old game?
Why hold me up and bear the same?
If You but bore what You assign,
You’d know my weight and theirs as mine.
5.
Why place a load that overflows,
Then brace it firm when burden grows?
If each one bore their rightful share,
How light the journey everywhere!
6.
I spoke my thoughts, and You agreed,
You loosed Your grip, You let me lead.
Then I discerned what You had done—
To bear all loads beneath the sun.
7.
You let me think the weight was mine,
While You upheld from the Divine.
And thus You showed me, with Your art—
Who truly bears the heaviest heart.
8.
You let me groan, and heave, and sigh,
Unknowing You were standing nigh.
For You, this play’s a daily part—
To others, just a comic art.
9.
But still, this weight is mine to bear—
How could You lift it unaware?
You act as though You merely show—
Yet in that act, the truth I know.

BT Song 1718
After completing my usual morning routine, as I returned to my desk, I found myself unconsciously murmuring the first line of this song. I don’t know why this happens, but it does—often.
Living alone, I frequently find myself singing or talking to the Lord while doing chores in the kitchen or elsewhere. Sometimes, I don’t even realize it until several seconds later.
Is this a psychological condition, or a form of conscious sadhana that I’ve practiced for years—talking to the Lord whenever I find a quiet moment, especially when I’m alone?
Some might call it Practicing the Presence of God (a phrase coined by Brother Lawrence); others might suggest I see a psychiatrist. But I know very well that I wouldn’t be able to explain this to them, nor would they understand—even if they are well trained and have encountered others like me.
Some may dismiss me as eccentric. Perhaps I am. Or perhaps I’m just following my intuition. Either way, that’s for others to decide. I’m happy to continue writing such thoughts as poems—as part of my prayer and sadhana.
BT Song 1718 Came with much fear
1.
Dare I climb and gaze on high,
When You know my heart and sigh?
How could I presume to see—
Now that You know all of me?
2.
Still I come, no other way;
You too know I could not stay.
I did not come without Your knowing—
You saw my weary spirit going.
3.
To whom shall I take my plea,
And speak the ache that dwells in me?
Who is there to hear my cry,
Or ask me gently: “Tell me why”?
4.
Even if someone lends their ear,
I dare not speak what lies so near.
And that too has its hidden cause—
A silence shaped by inward laws.
5.
I do not know the words to say,
Or shape my thoughts in fitting way.
I lack the tongue, the voice, the art—
To speak the hunger of my heart.
6.
No one has ever handed me
The words to speak my agony.
Though I’ve longed with silent strain,
No one has named my inward pain.
7.
I’ve not blamed a single soul—
None has faced this aching whole.
No one’s crossed this hidden land—
None have stood where now I stand.
8.
Many voices filled the air,
Each one shared their weight of care.
They told their truth, their inward night—
Their path was theirs, not mine in sight.
9.
But their words were not for me,
My burden stayed too vast to be.
So I was left without a phrase—
No word to light my silent maze.
10.
Thus, not knowing how to speak,
Trembling still, I came to seek.
I climbed with fear, unsure, alone—
To face the silence, all my own.
11.
But once I reached Your holy place,
And stood before Your unseen face—
I knew that words need not be said—
You knew it all within my head.
12.
To say this much is no small feat,
A silent soul in speech complete.
What more is left for me to give—
What else is needed now to live?
13.
Now take it all, O Lord, from me,
And handle what You’ve made to be.
The rest, I’ll tell another day—
But listen now, and let me stay.

BT Song 1719
Though I deeply enjoy every moment of my life here in the ashram—living as a recluse in solitude—there remains a subtle fear beneath the surface, always asking: “Suppose…?”
We cannot completely eliminate anxiety, but the best antidote is not to deny it, but rather to focus more fully on the present, entrusting the rest to God.
As the saying goes: we cannot prevent birds from flying above our heads, but we need not allow them to build nests on them.
BT Song 1719 – Give the life to live
1.
This kind of life, I clearly know,
Cannot each day the same way go.
And every day will not remain—
Such truth now echoes clear and plain.
2.
But what else can I even do,
Except to live each day anew?
I simply live the daily tide—
No other path stands at my side.
3.
I didn’t chose how this day’s course would be—
Not I, but You, decided it free.
How strange to think I fixed the way,
Of how I walk through this brief day.
4.
And just like that, shall I decree
How future days are meant to be?
Who here on earth can rightly claim
To shape tomorrow’s hidden frame?
5.
When I no longer wish to stray,
Nor chase another kind of way—
But only live the life that’s near,
Then all becomes more calm and clear.
6.
So day by day, I place with grace
My life within Your palm’s embrace.
I live my hours with sacred touch—
Your feet I seek, I need so much.
7.
Then let Your eyes with care attend,
And on me all Your wisdom send.
Grant me the sense of duty true,
And guide me in all things I do.
8.
That I may say when night is near,
“This day was good”—with heart sincere.
To offer thanks with peaceful tone—
That joy and grace were truly shown.
9.
O give me life, and well to live—
With strength each passing day to give.
That I may pray with heart restored,
Each day in truth before You, Lord.

BT Song 1720
After my afternoon reading, I sat quietly, absorbing the stillness around me. Without consciously thinking, the first line of this song began to echo in my mind. As usual, I tried to ignore it at first. But as the words continued to flow one after another, I quickly wrote the song down.
Don’t ask me where such inspiration comes from—whether it’s intuition, inner longing, a trick of the brain, or mysticism. No words can truly explain such an experience unless one undergoes it themselves.
Still, the blessing of living in solitude as a recluse comes with its own rewards—even if it demands a price. Yet, considering the value of what I receive in return, that price seems almost nothing. I have never regretted the meagre price I have paid—and continue to pay—for the joy of living a quiet life in solitude, with minimal contact with the outside world.
BT Song 1720 – Mould me
You came to take
And bind me in will,
What stops You now
From shaping me still? – 1
Was it You who set
The course I tread,
Or did You foresee
My thoughts ahead? – 2
Whatever it is,
Why should I fear,
When the end result
Is Yours, not here? – 3
And after that,
With no word said,
You’ll bear the load—
It’s Yours instead. – 4
So if You chose
To claim my days,
Then take the weight
Of all my ways. – 5
Lead me forth
With firm intent,
And change my frame
To what is meant. – 6
Responsibility—Yours,
And the burden too,
If that’s the final
Word that’s true. – 7
Once I’ve turned
To clay in Your hand,
You’ll shape me in
The form You planned. – 8
Then give the task
That fits me best—
My only duty:
To do the rest. – 9
So take me now
As once You did,
And place me firm
In what You bid. – 10

BT Song 1716 – அசைபோடும்
1.
முன்செய்த தெல்லாம்
எண்ணும் போது
அசைபோடும் உள்ளம்
உன்னடி நாடும்
2.

2.
ஆயினும் வருகிறேன்,
வழி வேறு இல்லை;
அதை நீயும்
அறியாமல் இல்லை
3.
யாரிடம் சென்று
முறையீடு செய்ய?
எவருண்டு நானும்
சொல்வதைக் கேட்க?
4.
கேட்டாலும் சொல்லத்
துணிவும் இல்லை;
அதற்கும் காரணம்
இல்லாமல் இல்லை
5.
புரியும் வண்ணம்
சொல்லத் தெரியேன்;
அதற்கான மொழி
நானும் அறியேன்
6.
என் மன வேட்கை
சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று
இதுவரை வார்த்தை
தந்தவர் இல்லை
7.
எவரையும் சொல்லி
தவறும் இல்லை;
எந்நிலை எவருக்கும்
வந்தது இல்லை
8.
எத்தனையோ பலர்
இதுவரை சொன்னார்;
அவரவர் நிலையை
எடுத்துச் சொன்னார்
9.
ஆயினும் அது
எனக்குப் பெருந்தலை
ஆகவே வார்த்தை
எனக்குக் கிடைக்கலை
10.
ஆகவே சொல்லத்
தெரியாமல் நானும்
ஏறிட்டுப் பார்க்கவும்
அஞ்சியே வந்தேன்
11.
சன்னதி வந்து
நின்ற பின்னாலே
சொல்லத் தேவை
இல்லை அறிந்தேன்
12.
இத்தனை சொன்னதே
மாபெரும் சாதனை;
அதற்குமேலே
வேறென்னத் தேவை?
13.
இனிமேல் நீயே
பார்த்துக் கொள்ளு;
மற்றதைப் பிறகு
சொல்லுவேன், கேளு

BT Song 1719 – வாழ்வைத் தருவாய்
1.
இதுபோல வாழ்வு
போகாது தெரியும்;
அனுதினம் இதுபோல்
இருக்காது புரியும்
2.
7.
ஆகவே பொறுப்பை
நன்றாக உணர்ந்து
அதற்கேற்ற கவனம்
என்மீது வைத்து
8.
நன்றாக இருந்தது
இந்நாளும் என்று
நன்றி நானும்
சொல்லும் படியாக
9.
வாழ்வைத் தருவாய்
வாழ்ந்திட நலமாக
அனுதினம் இதுபோல்

BT Song 1720 – வணைப்பாய் என்னை
தடுத்தாட் கொள்ள
வந்த உனக்கு
எடுத்தாட் கொள்ள
என்னத் தடையோ – 1
உனக்கே நீயே
வகுத்துக் கொண்டாயோ
அல்லது எனக்கென்ன
எண்ணி விட்டாயோ – 2
எதுவானால் இனி
எனக்கென்ன கவலை?
விளைவு உனதாய்
ஆகும் போது – 3
அதன்பின் பதிலும்
ஏதும் இல்லாமல்
வந்து சுமப்பாய்
பாரம் உனது – 4
ஆகவே எதற்காய்
ஆட்கொண்டாயோ
அதன்பின் பொறுப்பு
அனைத்தையும் ஏற்று – 5
எடுத்தாட் கொண்டு
என்னை நடத்து
அதற்கு ஏற்ப
என்னை மாற்று – 6
பொறுப்பும் உனது
பாரமும் உனது
என்பது இறுதி
முடிவான போது – 7
உன்கை களிமண்
ஆன பின்னே
விரும்பும் வடிவில்
வளைப்பாய் என்னை – 8
அதன்பின் அதற்கு
தந்திடும் பணியை
செய்வது மட்டும்
அதற்குக் கடமை – 9
ஆகவே தடுத்து
ஆட்கொண்ட படியே
வைப்பாய் என்னை
உனது பணியில் – 10
