BT Song 1761

BT Song 1761 – What Name Shall We Give?

Can we truly say
“This one alone is God”?
Can we point and claim
“That one alone is Lord”?

One whom we can show
Within the limits of speech—
Can such a being
Be called the Divine?

Beyond mind and speech,
Beyond scripture and creed,
That which simply IS—
What name shall we give?

Knowing yet unknowing,
Seeing yet not grasping,
In that mysterious state
Let us also remain.

Shall we become fools
Who boldly declare:
“I have clearly understood,
I have known the Divine”?

If you seek sincerely,
He comes seeking you;
If you say “You are not,”
He keeps silent still.

When pride dissolves
And ego grows small,
He himself will come
To dwell within us.

Then all arguments
Gradually fade,
And with them vanish
All our boundaries.

Understanding clears,
Wisdom awakens,
And the divisions of
“This one” and “That one” disappear.

Peerless, beyond compare,
Self-contained in itself,
The One Supreme Reality
That has become all.

To reveal itself—
What it truly is—
In silence alone
That Truth is known.

Gurukulam, March 16, 2026

Verse

I did not know the One who was within me.
After I came to know the One who was within me,
Who indeed can perceive the One who abides within another?
Remaining within myself, I realized the One who dwelt within me.
(6)

Commentary

I did not previously realize that God, the Ultimate Reality, was present within me as the one true Reality. I searched for that Supreme Being in many places, studied sacred texts, associated with noble people, and learned under a worthy guru. Through all this, I eventually came to realize that the One I was seeking was already within me.

Who can truly perceive the Lord dwelling within the life of another unless they first realize the life within themselves and the Lord who abides there?

Having recognized that Supreme Reality within me, I established my mind upon that Reality and remained absorbed in meditation. By abiding in that state, I came to realize that Truth for myself.

BT Song 1762 – Can God Be Contained?

As I often ask myself many questions, and occasionally ask a few others in the hope of finding answers to certain issues in life, I gradually realized that others have neither the need nor the obligation to understand me or respond to my questions, despite my attempts to explain myself to them.

When I finally went before God, however, I became speechless, unable to express what was within me. Yet He understood me without a single word from my side. Strangely, He too saw no need to answer my questions. Then it dawned on me that if neither others nor even God found it necessary to answer every question I raised, perhaps there was no necessity—or even urgency—for me to know the answer to every question in life. Realizing this, I simply stood before Him in silence.

BT Song 1762 No Need

1

Where else could I go?
Whom else could I ask?
Having come to You,
Who knows my every state.

2

Yet I still wander,
Asking many people;
Yet the answer
Still eludes me.

3

Even after coming
And speaking to You,
Not a single word
Remains with me.

4

Without any words,
My lips held still,
Speaking nothing,
I stood before You.

5

I went to others,
Speaking many words;
Though I explained them well,
They could not understand.

6

There is no fault
On their part;
They have no need
To understand me.

7

Yet You, who know me
So completely,
Have no need
To give an answer.

8

Though it may be
Necessary for me,
When it is necessary
To no one else,

9

I realized
There is no need
For me to ask
Anything at all.

10

Leaving behind
Every need and urgency,
In quiet peace
I stood before You.

BT Song 1763 – Everything Is You

Last night I did not sleep even for a single moment. Although I retired to bed around midnight after my usual reading and meditation, I kept tossing from side to side without any apparent reason. At first, I found myself questioning the Lord, wondering why He was allowing me to remain awake like this. I had no particular worries and no urgent responsibilities weighing upon me, yet sleep would not come.

After some time, however, I became quiet. Around 3:00 a.m., a different realization began to dawn on me. I told the Lord that since He had become everything in my life, it was entirely up to Him what to give, when to give, and what to withhold. When I finally got up at 4:00 a.m., unable to sleep any longer, I opened my laptop to begin my usual work. Immediately the words began to flow, and within a few minutes I typed this song directly into my laptop.

BT Song 1763 You Alone

1

You are the One who hides,
You are the One concealed;
Hidden deep within my heart,
You alone abide.

2

You are the One who gives,
You are the One who takes;
Knowing every need,
You alone act.

3

Creating, preserving,
And redeeming—you alone;
The mystery of creation
Is known to You alone.

4

You are every thought,
You are my very mind;
As each thought within me,
You alone remain.

5

You are every word,
You are every thought;
The meaning within each word—
You alone are there.

6

You are my inspiration,
My strength, my purpose;
Bringing purpose
To its perfect fulfilment.

7

You are the boundary,
You are the end;
Beyond the furthest limit
You alone remain.

8

Even when I say
“You are everything,”
Beyond all that can be called “all,”
You alone remain.

BT Song 1764

After a healthy South Indian breakfast—two idlies with ridge gourd (nenua in Hindi, peerkangai in Tamil) chutney, strictly according to the Food Code (Cousin Dharma)—I prepared myself a strong filter coffee, which I rarely drink. (For the record, eating idli without filter coffee is not merely a sin; it comes dangerously close to adharma.)

Coffee in hand, I settled by the bay window. The morning was bright, the breeze cool, and nature was quietly singing. Most importantly, there was nobody around. Solitude is an essential ingredient in this recipe; without it, the coffee loses at least half its theological value.

As I slowly savoured each sip, a curious thought arose. This quiet mercy that I so often receive is, perhaps, a rare commodity among devotees.

Tulsidas expressed a similar thought in a different way: God may grant mukti to many, but bhakti only to a few. In my own case, She pours out Her grace upon everyone without discrimination—like the sun that shines and the rain that falls. Yet, every now and then, She seems to add an extra slice of cake—or perhaps an extra cup of filter coffee enjoyed in perfect solitude—called Mercy. It appears to be reserved for those who have become painfully aware of how weak and vulnerable they are in their relationship with Her.

If you doubt this little theology of mine, do not argue.

Instead, ask Her not merely for grace, but for mercy. Then prepare a good filter coffee, find a quiet corner where no one can disturb either your meditation or your coffee, and simply sit with Her.

After trying this experiment, come back and tell me just one thing:

Are you ready to join my team?

BT Song 1764 His Mercy Upon Me

Somehow, He looked on me
With boundless mercy;
Such a life as this,
He granted even to me.

In solitude I remained,
Thinking only of Him;
He blessed me with the grace
To worship at His sacred feet.

Who else receives
A life like this?
Who else receives
The mercy I have known?

His measureless grace
Is offered to all,
A gift held open
To every soul alike.

Yet why is it
That only a few
Receive such special mercy
In the course of life?

A mother’s love
Embraces all her children
With equal tenderness
At every moment.

Yet to the frail
And suffering child
She gives a deeper care,
A gentler compassion.

So it is with Him;
Like a loving mother,
He knows each need
And grants what is best.

Only the sick
Require the physician;
This truth
He knows full well.

Though I know not
The illness within me,
He who truly knows me
Knows it perfectly.

Therefore, if you feel
You need His mercy
More than anything else,
Seek Him alone.

Then come and tell me
What follows after;
Only then will you discover
The greatness of His mercy.

Knowing its surpassing worth,
You will seek that mercy alone,
And go to Him
With all your heart.

BT Song 1765

Being social animal, as individual can survive for along time without some kind of human support.  At the same time, being fragile beings, our support for each other has also its own limitation—from both sides.  There is no unlimited support given or received by any human beings.  However when it comes to the strength of the atman, though spiritual fellowship will keep it alive, still the strength that comes when one learns to walk ‘alone with Alone’ then it will give immense inner strength to cope with many challenges in life—if not all.  So as I always prefer and enjoy my life in solitude, often I think its advantage that I got to be alone with the Lord than missing the fellowship of other human begins which though essential but never remain important in all needs and one such is the need of the atman.  As I was meditating on this line, as inspiration came I wrote this song.

B.T. Song 1765

I Need This Solitude

1

I have need of
This solitude;
For that I need
Your strength alone.

2

If You should give
A strengthless solitude,
My weary soul
Would fade away.

3

Without a helper
There is no strength;
One’s own strength
Cannot endure.

4

Without Your grace,
Whatever help may come,
No human support
Can truly last.

5

When human companionship
Comes alongside,
Both mind and body
Gain fresh strength.

6

But spiritual strength
Alone is found
Nowhere except
In You.

7

When body and mind
Grow faint and weary,
Even human support
May disappear.

8

Then I understand
That boundless strength
Cannot be found
There.

9

Seeking instead
Your strength,
Overflowing beyond
Every limit,

10

I will seek
You alone, always;
Coming apart from all,
In You I shall find my strength.

11

And for the solitude
You have given me
For this very purpose,
I will thank You still.

BT Song 1761 –

2

ஆயினும் போகிறேன்,
பலரிடம் கேட்கிறேன்;
ஆயினும் விடையை
அறியாமல் இருக்கிறேன்.

3

உன்னிடம் வந்து
சொன்ன போதும்,
எவ்வித மொழியும்
என்னிடம் இல்லை.

4

வார்த்தைகள் இன்றி,
வாய்மூடி நின்று,
ஏதுமே பேசாமல்
உன்முன் நின்றேன்.

5

பிறரிடம் சென்று
பல வார்த்தைகள் சொல்லி,
விளக்கமாய் கூறினும்,
பிறருக்கு புரியலை.

6

அவர்மீது தவறு
ஏதுமே இல்லை;
புரிந்திட அவசியம்
அவருக்கு இல்லை.

7

ஆயினும் நன்கு
புரிந்திட்ட உனக்கு,
பதில் தர அவசியம்
ஏதுமே இல்லை.

8

என்னதான் எனக்கு
அவசியமாயினும்,
எவருக்கும் அவசியம்
இல்லாத போது,

9

எதையும் கேட்கும்
அவசியம் எனக்கு
அவசியம் இல்லை
என்பதை உணர்ந்து,

10

அவசியம், அவசரம்
அனைத்தையும் விட்டு,
அமைதியாய் நானும்
உன்முன் நின்றேன்.

BT Song 1763 மறைப்பது நீயே

1

மறைப்பது நீயே,
மறைந்ததும் நீயே;
மனதிற்குள் மறைந்து
இருப்பதும் நீயே.

2

கொடுப்பதும் நீயே,
எடுப்பதும் நீயே;
தேவை அறிந்து
செய்வதும் நீயே.

3

படைத்து காத்து
மீட்பதும் நீயே;
படைப்பின் ரகசியம்
அறிந்ததும் நீயே.

4

எண்ணம் நீயே,
என் மனம் நீயே;
எண்ணமாய் என்னுள்
இருப்பதும் நீயே.

5

எழுத்தும் நீயே,
கருத்தும் நீயே;
எழுத்துள் கருத்தாய்
இருப்பதும் நீயே.

6

ஆக்கம், ஊக்கம்,
நோக்கம் நீயே;
நோக்கத்தை ஆக்கமாய்
முடிப்பதும் நீயே.

7

எல்லை நீயே,
இறுதியும் நீயே;
இறுதியின் எல்லையாய்
இருப்பதும் நீயே.

8

எல்லாம் நீயென
சொன்ன போதும்,
எல்லாம் கடந்து
இருப்பதும் நீயே.

BT Song 1764

என்னவோ என்மேல்

இரக்கம் கொண்டான்

இதுபோல் வாழ்வை

எனக்கும் தந்தான்

தனிமையில் இருந்து

அவனை நினைந்து

தாளிணைப் பணியும்

வரமும் தந்தான்

இதுபோல் வாழ்வு

எவருக்குக் கிடைக்கும்

நான்பெற்ற இரக்கம்

எவருக்குக் கிடைக்கும்

அளவிலா அவனது

அருள்மட்டும் வாழ்வில்

அனைவர்க்கும் பொதுவாய்

இருக்கும் போது

ஏனோ சிலருக்கு

மட்டுமே வாழ்வில்

இதுபோல் இரக்கம்

தனியே தருவான்

தாயின் அன்பு

அனைத்து பிள்ளைக்கும்

ஒன்றாய் என்றும்

இருந்த போதும்

சவலை பிள்ள

தனக்கு மட்டும்

தனியே இரக்கம்

அவளும் வைப்பாள்

தாய்போல் தானே

 அவனும் இருப்பான்

தேவை அறிந்து

அதையே தருவான்

நோய்க்கு மட்டுமே

வைத்தியம் தேவை

என்பதை  அவனும்

நன்கு அறிவான்

என்நோய் இதுவென

அறியா போதும்

என்னை அறிந்த

அவனதை அறிவான்

ஆகவே அவனது

இரக்கம் சற்று

அதிகம் தேவை

என்று உணர்ந்தால்

என்போல் அவனை

மட்டுமே நாடு

அதன்பின் நடப்பதை

என்னிடம் கூறு

அதன்பின் இரக்கத்தின்

மேன்மை அறிந்து

அதையே நாடுவாய்

அவனிடம் சென்று

குருகுலம், 28-6-2026, காலை 8.15

B. T. Song 1765

எனக்குத் தேவை

இந்த தனிமை

அதற்குத் தேவை

உந்தன் வலிமை

வலிமை அற்ற

தனிமை தந்தால்

வாடிப் போகும்

எனது நிலமை

துணை இன்றி

வலிமை இல்லை

சொந்த வலிமை

நிலைப்பதில்லை

உனது அருள்

இனிறி வரும்

எந்த துணையும்

நிலைப்பதில்லை

மனித துணையும்

வரும் போது

மனதும்-உடலும்

வலிமை கொள்ளும்

ஆனால் ஆன்ம

வலிமை மட்டும்

உன்னில் அன்றி

எங்கு கிடைக்கும்

உடல்-மனதும்

சோரும் போது

மனித துணையும்

மாறிப் போகும்

எல்லை அற்று

தாங்கும் வலிமை

அங்கு இல்லை

என்று புரியும்

எல்லை கடந்து

பெருகி பாயும்

உனது வலிமை

கிடைக்க வேண்டி

உன்னை மட்டும்

என்றும் நாடி

தனித்து வந்து

உன்னில் பெருவேன்

அதற்கு என்று

தந்த தனிமை

அதற்கும் கூட

நன்றி சொல்வேன்.
