BT Song 951: See Unknown God: Primitive Pantheism
Oh My God—Part Two
This song speaks to the boundless nature of the divine, expressing the difficulty in comprehending and describing God. Despite various human attempts to understand and describe the divine, all efforts fall short. The singer acknowledges that complete understanding is unattainable and decides to cease the fruitless efforts to fully grasp the divine essence.
BT Song 951: My Boundary (or Limitation)
There are no bounds that limit you,
You roam freely, ever true.
Yet we strive to comprehend,
With words that falter, thoughts that end.
In creation, protection, and decay,
These are mere symbols we convey.
Which language guides us to portray
The vastness of your boundless way?
Can I grasp you in my mind?
Or must I seek beyond, to find?
Is all I know, just thought’s design,
A fleeting glimpse of the divine?
No sacred text can fully share
Your essence, beyond what words declare.
Yet knowing our confined insight,
You gave us guidance, pure and bright.
No scholar’s words can fully weave
The truth of Veda we receive.
It’s beyond our grasp to see
Your depth, your true immensity.
Acknowledging this, I see my scope,
No longer striving for the whole.
Content with what you’ve let us know,
I cease my quest, let wisdom flow.

BT Song 952: The Uniqueness of God’s Dealing
When the Lord interacts with the devotee, it is in a unique way that brings a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, even if it is against the devotee’s will. However, delays in divine action cause frustration and lead to arguments with God, although the devotee knows these arguments are futile. The devotee spends more time arguing than worshiping, knowing that the Lord alone has granted the grace. The plea is for the Lord to help the devotee overcome this argumentative nature and focus more on devotion.
BT Song 952: Your Uniqueness
When you give, there’s uniqueness there,
In receiving, I find care.
Opportunities for you abound,
And I, in gratitude, am found.
Though my needs are great and wide,
You alone choose when to provide.
In foresight, you fulfill my plea,
Instilling trust and certainty.
My heart waits, with patience deep,
Reflecting on the gifts I keep.
When delays bring questions near,
I understand the reasons clear.
Yet within, a quiet fear,
You know its source, always near.
In long delays, when I am tried,
I may argue, but you guide.
In every plea, I understand,
Before you, no challenge can stand.
Aware of this, my humble call,
Show me mercy through it all.
Your giving ways, unique and true,
Need no reminder from me to you.
In knowing how to bless and aid,
You grant the means by which I’m made.

BT Song 953: Tormenting Again
The devotee struggles with the persistence of sinful nature despite the Lord’s atonement. Questioning why atonement did not remove this burden completely, the devotee recognizes that every failure and sin seems to crucify the Lord anew. The song reflects a continuous battle with sin and a cry for divine help to overcome it, entrusting the process of salvation entirely to the Lord, despite the ongoing struggle.
BT Song 953: I Torture You Again
I torture you again, dear giver,
Though you redeemed me, I still quiver.
When I stumble, without pause,
I nail you back upon the cross.
As long as I live, within me stays
A sinful nature that never sways.
Your atonement calls to me,
I come again, seeking to be free.
Not with intellect, do I come,
But seeking liberation, from
The burdens that within me lie,
Your grace alone can purify.
I beg for strength to fight this plight,
To stand firm till the end in sight.
Carry me when I’m weak and worn,
Lift me, heal where I am torn.
In battles fought, wounds laid bare,
Your healing touch, with utmost care.
To struggle on, by your side,
Guiding me through every tide.
Remain my guru, show the way,
Lead me forth, day by day.
I give myself to you, divine,
To lead me with your love, benign.
Mathigiri, 29-8-2018, 11.50 p.m.
BT Song 954: You Alone Lift the Burden
The song reflects on the inherited sinful nature and the lack of responsibility for past sins. The devotee did not follow the Lord due to theological understanding but found solace in the Lord as a guru. Despite understanding the significance of atonement, the relationship with the Lord is based more on devotion than theological clarity. The song highlights the tension between faith and reason and the struggle to live up to personal beliefs. Ultimately, the relationship with the Lord is what resolves the devotee’s crises, not theological terms.
BT Song 954: You Alone Show Mercy
The burden of sin, too great to bear,
Its nature, a mystery beyond compare.
Who placed this weight within my heart?
In searching, I cannot find the start.
From the first man, sin did flow,
Inherited in ways we know.
Veda’s wisdom tries to explain,
Yet some ask me to accept the pain.
Others say it’s karma’s weight,
From past lives, sealing my fate.
While some dismiss these doctrines clear,
Claiming they’re imposed by fear.
But which to accept or to deny,
Is not the question I imply.
The truth is in my burdens felt,
In shortcomings, where I’ve knelt.
In my quest for answers deep,
You came to me, your promises keep.
Your blood was shed upon the cross,
To bear my sins, erase my loss.
To accept or reject, you leave to me,
Yet I come, unable to be free.
Grant me mercy, lift this weight,
For in your grace, my burdens abate.

BT Song 955: Your Duty
After a dry spell finally we got some good rain for the last two days. So tonight, recalling the song in which I rebuked God for not giving rain, I said ‘thank you’ and wrote this song. I completed the song without the final two stanzas (12 and 13) I wrote the next day morning (1-09-2018) immediately after getting up from the bed. Because when I got up in the morning the first thought that came in my mind was, ‘how can I allow God to go that much easily just with a “thank you”. What if rain is not coming in time till the crops grow? So better let me remind Him that He cannot take for granted my gratitude and should continue to give rain till the farmers have a good harvest. Then I wrote the final two stanzas reminding him that if he didn’t provide further rains at the right times, be ready for another kind of song which I wrote previously. After writing those two stanzas I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Such freedom is possible in bhakti.
These explanations provide a reflection on the intricate relationship between the devotee and the divine, capturing themes of doubt, faith, and the quest for spiritual understanding.
BT Song 955: Your Duty
If you provide, we can thrive,
Without your gifts, how can we survive?
You gave your life for humanity’s gain,
Extend your mercy to ease our pain.
Your grace sustains us, day by day,
Relieving hunger, keeping disease at bay.
For plants to grow, for farmers’ cheer,
You must bring rain, year by year.
To reap in time, they must sow,
Following seasons as they go.
Do I need to tell you this,
Who set nature’s course in bliss?
The one who plants will also tend,
This proverb holds true to the end.
Our trust in you is steadfast and strong,
For your blessings, we long.
Blessing all, without a divide,
Is your nature, true and wide.
Protect us, as is your role,
Keep us safe, make us whole.
Understanding this, we give our praise,
For the good rains and bountiful days.
May your mercy ever flow,
Until the harvest’s end we know.
Otherwise, in times of drought,
Our cries in poems will come out.
We will implore,
Till your mercy opens the door.

BT Song 951: My Boundary (or Limitation)
There is no boundary for you
You never come under any boundary
However, we realized you
We don’t have the means to explain you
When we say that
You are creating, protecting, and destroying
They are nothing but mere illustrations (doctrines)
Which language taught us?
Can I understand you through my thought?
Or can I understand beyond my thought?
Can I deny that all I understood about you
Is nothing but the act of my thought?
There is no chance for us to understand you completely
Through your Veda
But knowing our limitations
You provided that for us to know you
No commentary ever explained
That Veda completely for us
It is impossible for us to understand you
Through all the explanations that we give
Knowing this well
I realized my limitations
Therefore, I won’t attempt anymore
To understand you completely
Mathigiri, 27-8-18, 11.30 p.m.
BT Song 952: Your Uniqueness
When you provide, there will be uniqueness in it
When I receive, there will be satisfaction in it
There will be thousands of opportunities for you to give
And I too will have the qualification to receive
Though I have so many needs
When to give, you alone know
When you do in advance, knowing my need
I will have complete trust in you
My heart will wait patiently
Thinking of what you have done so far
When you delay in between
I can understand the reason for it
But there will be some fear within me
And you know the reason for that also
When you delay too much as I am provoked
I will like to argue with you about it
However I argue with you
I know that nothing will stand before you
I am afraid, only thinking that
Knowing that, I request you to show some pity on me
As you know to give in a unique way
Do I need to say this to you?
Do I need to remind you that
You gave me the qualification to receive?
Mathigiri, 29-8-2018, 11.10 p.m.
BT Song 953: I Torture You Again
I torture you again
O charitable one
Though you redeemed me
By paying a price
When I stumble
Without any hesitation
I nail you
Again on the tree
As long as I live
My sinful nature
Which is rooted within me
Won’t go from me
As your atonement
Reminds it again
I came to you
Begging again
I never came
With an intellectual understanding
But I come only to
Receive mukti from you
I beg you
To give your grace
For me to fight against it
Till the end
I call upon you
To carry me
When I stumble
Not to fall again
When I lay down
With wounds after a fight
I call you to come
And put balm on my wounds
Healing me again
Standing with me by giving company
To struggle again
You will take me to the further shore, I know this for sure
Till then, remain as my guru
To show the way to me
I give myself to you
For you to lead me each day
Mathigiri, 29-8-2018, 11.50 p.m.
BT Song 954: You Alone Show Mercy
I cannot bear the burden of sin
I cannot understand the nature of sin
Who kept it within me?
Till now, I cannot understand this
The sinful nature of the first man
Came within me automatically
And explaining this clearly through Veda
Few asked me to accept this (doctrine)
Some others said that
It came as the result of my karma
It follows me from previous births
And asked me to accept this (doctrine)
But some others challenged by saying that
Sin, karma, and other terms are
Imposed on us by others and
Asked me to throw them away completely
The question before me is not
Which one to accept and which one to reject
Whichever might be the reason
My situation becomes a burden and this is the truth
Whichever terms we use like
Error, mistake, or sin
There is some shortcoming within me
And how to remove it?
When I wandered seeking the answer to this
You came as the answer to me
You shed your blood for me
On the Cross for this
Accepting or rejecting is your responsibility
By saying this you gave the responsibility to me
I came, unable to bear that burden alone
I request you to give mercy only to remove it
Mathigiri, 30-8-2018, 2.40 p.m.
BT Song 955: Your Duty
If you provide
We can survive
If you refuse to give
Where can we go?
As you gave your life
To save humanity
You should show mercy
To save our bodies also
Your grace is needed
For humanity to live
By removing hunger
And diseases
For the plants to grow
And farmers to rejoice
Providing rain
Is your duty
In order to reap
At the proper time
They should sow
In the proper season
Do I need to tell this
To you who arranged
All parts of nature
According to their course?
‘One who planted the tree
Also will water it’
This proverb is
Only for you
As humans have
That much trust in you
What else can they
Seek from you?
Blessing all
Not discriminating
Between good and evil
Is your nature
Doing accordingly
And protecting us is
Your responsibility
Which you kept for yourself
Understanding it
Giving thanks
For the good rain that you gave
Is our duty
But this mercy
Should continue
Till the end of the
Harvest
Otherwise,
Some poems like this
Might come
In between often

BT Song 951:

BT Song 955:
