BT Song 791
This is the Musical season in Tamilnadu and in every day there will be several musical programs which I enjoy very much. As I listened one such program in which the singer sang one song in which the lady devotee ask ‘wont’ he come on the street (in the procession of festival seasons) and stop in front of my house and say a word unto me’ (தெருவில் வாரானோ, என்னைத் திரும்பியே பாரானோ; வாசலில் நிற்கானோ, ஒரு வாசகம் சொல்லானோ). After the program when I was doing some computer work, as those lines again echoed in my mind, immediately I thought about the verse in which the Lord says (in Revelation) ‘behold I come and stand at the door. If someone opens I will come and have fellowship with him’ (3.20) as the inspiration came I wrote this song in the same genre.
These kinds of songs expressing viraha bhakti with music and dance are part of our culture. The lady longs to hear a word from her Lord. Though she can go to the temple to have his darshan, yet it will be special when he will come in the procession on the street, where the cart will stop in several places for people to do arati and puja. So she also longs for him to come and stop in front of her house so that she can have her ‘personal’ darshan and hear a loving word from him.

BT Song 791 Open the door
He came seeking you
Stood on the street
He will come to your door
And will ask you to welcome him
He never came to receive
But only to give
If you too want to receive
Then open the door
He will come with joy
And will be with you
Showing the path of redemption
He will redeem you also.
Have you seen one?
Like him on this earth?
Why this further delay
Won’t you open the door?
Don’t stand hesitating
Don’t further delay
Opening the door
Bow at his feet
He will accept you with much joy
And will become your own
Living with you
He will take you to the Further shore.

BT Song 792
In my talk with a bhakta she asked whether I have done that act (meditation etc.) as God asked us to do. In response I said, ‘I don’t want to drag god in all my normal activities in life. For me I try to live a normal life as a bhakta of the Lord. But I never try to punctuate all my activities dragging god in it. Bhakti is part of my normal life. So all that I do in a normal life is part of that bhakti and I need not ask God’s guidance in every activity. Otherwise we will begin to theologize every sneezing and yawning. According to me if I began to live a life for the Lord then definitely it will become a burden. Actually I don’t know what it means to live for the Lord? My heart demands a normal peaceful life with contentment in all I do. Mind seeks various other needs. My body demands rest. With all this as I have to cope with others in life I cannot live a separate life for the Lord. So living everyday life normally doing all the activities which comes normally and naturally is also a life living for the Lord. When I realize this, such a normal life never becomes a burden. But if I began to think of living a separate life for the Lord, definitely it will become a burden to me.
BT Song 792

BT Song 792 No more a burden
Living for you
Is it a burden in one way?
Realizing this alone I come unto you
Give me your grace
There is no blessing
Only to live for me
I realized this
Bring a change in me
The heart is seeking
A normal (comfortable) life
Mind is seeking
Various other needs
The body is also
Seeks its own rest
Struggling with all of them
I become tired
My struggles
Never stopped only with them
I have so many other
Challenges in this world
As I live with others
And with relatives
My race will never
Stop with any one task
Amidst all of them
I don’t know to live (separately) for you
I cannot understand
What does it mean to live for you?
Oh my Lord
Not running every day race which you give
I don’t know how to live
For you (separately)
Doing all my duties
Normally each day
Having relationship
With you in between them
Celebrating the life
Which you have given to me
I found no more
Burden in it.

BT Song 793
Before going to bed simply I said to the Lord (not even as a prayer) that you were with me the whole day and done all the best things for me. Considering my age and responsibility to take care of my mother, naturally I have to reorient my life and several of my (past activities). Now my mother has become very weak and unable to walk properly. She walks only with the helper of a walker, but still remains strong in her mind (and also in memory power). As I too become old I try to not overwork and go a bit slowly in all my activities and God in time arranges all proper needs. As I thought about all this, I wrote this song to worship him one more time.
BT Song 793

BT Song 793 Thank you
You were with me
In this day also
Living with me
You gave many blessings
Thinking that
I came unto your presence
Folding both my hands
I bow at your Holy feet
Observing each
Need of my body
You fulfilled all of them
Without lacking anything
Seeing what are
The needs of my mind
You gave more
For that also
As the old age
Has come
You arranged
So many comforts
Not allowing me
To do more than what I could do
You provided
Enough rest as well
You gave me
Strength to do my duties
By going to sleep
In proper time
Thinking all of them
I come unto your Holy feet
Before going to sleep
I say ‘thank you’.

BT Song 794
My favourite proverb is: Blessed is the man who knows his limitations and doesn’t bite more than what you can chew. In the past when I was approached by several people to take some responsibilities, I refused to do so. Because I strongly believe that once I make a commitment then I should complete it till the end of the life or that project. One time one local political leader requested me to collect some funds to help the poor and needy in our area. Refusing to do it I said to him, ‘that will end up in a big mess. Sannyasis should not have two things: money and authority. Poor people are everywhere and I encourage my shishyas and friends to do it locally rather than me collecting the fund and distributing it here, paving the way for all kinds of scams.’ Once you take a vow, then it is for life. Of course we should not be dogmatic about everything, particularly in our relationship with others (specifically in the area of forgiving and forgetting) but when it comes to personal commitment then we should not waver carried away by the wind of every opinion. If we do, at the end, we alone will pay the cost for it and not others who create such opinions in our lives.
When we bite more than what we can chew, several times we end up creating problems for others, though we too suffer a lot. I know several people who make initial commitment and walk away later giving various excuses. Several people sponsor the education of some students and stop suddenly, leaving the students suffering to get the money to complete the education. So when we bite more than what we can chew, it harms others more. According to my view this is nothing but exploiting others just for the sake of our selfishness to get name and fame.
I strongly believe in decentralizing and localizing for the better management of events. So when I was reading this part of Psalm 131.1b, as it endorsed my view (whatever might be the context of the text), inspired by it, I wrote this song.
@ This is a Tamil proverb. The sheep and goat live as a group. They always wave their tails. If god has provided a long tail like a horse, then all will get entangled with each other as they always wave their tail often.
BT Song 794

BT Song 794 He gave with limitation
He gave the goat a limited tail@
Similarly he helped me to understand my situation
I should not have a proud heart
And should not have an arrogant attitude
Not piling up unnecessary task
On my head
I should learn to know to do what is possible for me
And should forget which is not possible for me.
One should know her limitation
And learn to play the game according to the rule
Don’t cross your limitation
And give up halfway.
If you do unnecessary things
Only unnecessary burden increases
Finally the work get spoiled
And become un-useful for anyone
When others seek your help
Do what is possible for you
Don’t make unnecessary commitment
And get tangled in trouble
If you interfere in unnecessary tasks
Finally everything gets spoiled
It will become a problem for others
You will be blamed for that.

BT Song 795
Again a time of meditation in which sometimes I concentrate on the lord and other times my mind gets diverted. Whether I come to him with full conscience or just as a routine part of life, the time that I spent with him is special for me. More than what I do, what God does for me is that counts for me. As I come out from another such wandering of my mind, pouring down even that kind of experience I wrote this song to worship him.
BT Song 795

BT Song 795 I sought this boon
I don’t know any other thing
Each day I came seeking your feet to worship
Oh my King, you know my situation
What else can I tell you about me?
I received this very life because of you
I know only to give me to you
I rejoice thinking about it each day
Therefore I come unto your feet to worship you
You never let me have any shortcomings to complaint
You never behaved for me to become upset
You never gave me not considering my nature (to receive)
You never allowed me to struggle all alone
I came unto your feet consciously
I stood several time before without conscious
Knowing the nature of my heart
You mingled with me overcoming my nature
I don’t need any other blessed status than this
I sought only this boon alone each day of my life
I will complete my race living like this
And will live with you all the time.
