BT Song 866

As my irritation with God continued in the evening, in the night also I resumed my argument with him finally challenging him that being Independent he could do anything that he likes.  But if I were there then I would have asked him few questions which would force him to rethink his decision to create us.  So I wrote this song again to vent out my anger.  However as my anger subsided, I realized the pathetic situation of God, because even as a God he cannot live a kind of life that he could live.  So I am better than him and thinking about it I wrote the final stanza feeling sorry for him.

 BT Song 866: Meanless God

Unnecessary he created this earth

And kept men on it only to suffer

Somehow he managed to escape

He watched us when we stumble in life

Not sending us on our request

He decided on his own

Not anyone is there to question him

He ruled all alone

If I were there

Definitely, I would have asked him a few questions

If he managed to answer even one

Then I would allow him to rule over us

He does not have our sufferings

He never lived our kind of life

As he is alone, there is no frustration for him

As he rules alone, there is none to oppose him

But poor one, he does not know one thing

Though he created the entire cosmos, that one he does not understand

Even though he created us

He never knew our complete nature

As he forgot to create us

As he created the rest of the creatures

He felt sorry for creating us

As we began to ask these kinds of questions

There is no means for him to escape

As he created us in his image

There is no point remaining God

As we ask these kinds of questions

BT Song 867

In my response in one dialogue at the end I wrote: Bhakti helps me to live with simple bhakti and not with clear rationalistic understanding about every area of life.  The problem with the reason is that unless it is convinced it won’t make the commitment. But the danger is that when any commitment is made after initial understanding then it will began to ask further question. So till the end it has to live with a life of uncertainty. Whereas bhakti makes the commitment first and when certain things are not clear, it will Trust and wait for proper time for God to reveal than doubting everything based on reason.  Sometimes, till the end no answer will be given for some questions, but at least bhakti will help to live each day enjoying the heavenly life on earth by practicing the presence of God.

After writing this, as I was reflecting about it in the afternoon after reading today’s Muktivedic portion, as inspiration came I wrote this song.

…Pascal; (Pensees, 4. 273) reasoned: “If we submit everything to reason, our religion will have no mystery and supernatural element. If we offend the principles of reason, our religion will be absurd and ridiculous.”…— Bruce K. Waltke and James M. Houston, with Erika Moore, The Psalms As Christian Worship: A Historical Commentary, Grand Rapids, Michigan, William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 2010, p. 82 [no reference is given and I cannot trace Pascal in Index. No bibliography in this book at the end—db]

BT Song 867: Three Strand Thread

It is impossible

To know in full

It is beyond both

Mukti and bhakti

It is impossible

To do bhakti

On this earth

After having a clear understanding

There is a limit

Even for the buddhi

It is good

For us to understand it

It is impossible

Even for intellect

To live only after clear understanding

We can understand

Mukti in its fullness

With the help of bhakti

Which begins as a relationship

Through mukti

We can understand

The greatness of bhakti

More and more

When bhakti

Joins with buddhi

We can grow strongly

In relationship

When we depend upon

Only on our intellect

Finally, it will

Defeat the relationship

When we live

Growing in bhakti

Realizing mukti

With the help of buddhi

Like a three-strand thread

All three joining together

Will make life on this earth

A sweet one

BT Song 868: He Will Give Opportunity

I waited for him

With tearful eyes

I looked for him

Without blinking my eyes

Till I fell in love

I never knew him

I never realized that

He is a thief

I never knew

About separation

I remembered his promise

Of non-separation

Therefore, when he came

And knocked on the door

I ran with much enthusiasm

And opened the door

He showed his darshan

Only for a fraction of a second

Before I could catch him with my eyes

He disappeared

Before I could tell

About my love, he went away

He made me drown

In the pond of my eyes

What is the use of

Doing bhakti to him?

I saw his disappearance

After coming near to me

I don’t know

Why he went away

Before I could give

Myself completely to him?

Did he think that

I am not qualified for him?

Did he forget

The refuge he gave?

The one who bestows grace

Receiving anyone

Why did he renounce

Only me?

But I won’t forget

The promise he gave

I live

Only believing it

The one who promised to come

Will definitely come

He will bestow the opportunity

For me to bow at his feet

BT Song 869

Though I remain firm in major issues I get frustrated in small issues that too related with everyday life.  Some kind of discipline is part of my genes which I learnt from my father.  So if few minutes delay in my routine life that too caused by unnecessary interference much irritates me. I know this is the problem with most of the single people as they never learnt the art of adjusting with others.  As I again get disturbed in my routine life, I get irritated.  So after my regular Muktivedic reading, when I thought about it, I wrote this song addressing my own mind.

BT Song 869: No More

Remain calm, my heart

By worshiping at his feet

He knows about you

As he thinks of you each day

When you get tossed

Due to frustration

Put the anchor

Of his feet

You get tossed

In many ways

You lose peace

By drowning in sorrow

Thinking about your condition

You melt within yourself

By losing your sense

You lose even your thoughts

Calm will come

After a storm

He will give peace

As he knows you

When you live

Trusting him

There is no need

For any more confusion

Whatever might come

Accept it, my heart

He will bestow grace

Taking pity on you

Mathigiri, 27-4-18, 2.20 p.m.

BT Song 870

Old age has its own blessings and problems. The blessing is that we can live a relatively peaceful life (provided if you have everything that is required for that). But there will always be some anxiety about the future as the body is not cooperating much. The major anxiety is about unnecessary imagination with lots of ‘what if’ questions. They may not even come, but along with the routine peaceful life, this anxiety will flow as an undercurrent. As some ‘what if’ questions again came to my mind tonight, I reflected on them, took them to the Lord, and prayed for him to lead me in such a helpless situation, where like a sick person, I cannot decide about my treatment.

BT Song 870: You Should Lead

This is the time, don’t you know?

Won’t you remember this lonely one?

Is it good further delaying?

Do I need to tell it to you?

It is the nature of humans

To come only when we call them

But if you do the same

What can I tell?

Won’t the mother know

Before the baby cries?

Won’t she take it to her chest

Even before it begins to cry?

A sick person

Does not know his needs

He does not understand

The nature of his disease

Don’t you know

This is my condition?

Won’t you understand

My need?

Therefore,

I do not know anything

Which one is correct

I don’t understand

You alone should act

The one who knows well

Accordingly

You should lead me

Mathigiri, 28-4-18, 11.30 p.m.

Sure, here are the edited versions of the poems with spelling and grammar corrections:

BT Song 866
