BT Song746

After some time, I began to enjoy my reclusive life in the ashram.  Due to heavy rain I got up very early and sat for my meditation and prayer. One constant thought that came in me was who created whom?  Did God actually create humans and also the entire creation?  Or was it a human who created a God to understand the world within him and outside?  Well this is not a new question and it is the origin of philosophy. So I need not give my answer to it.  But reflecting what I already wrote: Why only Muktinath, after recalling it I said that it is enough for me that I know Him and Known by Him.  Then as the inspiration came I wrote this song as my prayer.

BT Song 746

BT Song 746 Why I worship you?

Whether they do not know you

Or worship you after knowing

All the lives (on the earth)

Belong to you

Once I don’t know you

Then I knew

Therefore Oh my Lord

I am worshiping you each day

You gave the mind to know you

You also gave that boon (to know you)

Therefore I worship you

With clear understanding

You are very near

To those who want to know

When they call

You are come running hearing their voice

You keep much patience

With those who wander

Without any desire to know you

Or without any ability to know you

You give more grace

Than others to those

Who is unable to live?

Even after knowing you.

But you rejoice

By giving yourself to me

To this fool

Who never knew you even after knowing you?

I know you, but I don’t know you

But I won’t be troubled because of that

Because you redeemed this slave

That alone I know well

That is enough for me.

I know you?

Only to bow at your feet

Each day.

BT Song 747

After writing the previous song (746) and singing it as my prayer, I again sat to enjoy the calmness around me.  Though my mind got inspired again and again with an urge to write more poems, I resisted as I wanted to enjoy the calmness around me.  But as usual as I failed, I said to myself, ‘writing poems is also a kind of meditation.  Then why you resist it and enjoy that inner communication with the Lord by sharing your thoughts through words’.  So I wrote this song expressing that thought.  In our Indian tradition, not only bhakti but even philosophies and other forms of knowledge survived because they were written in poetic form.  For me many hundred pages of written words won’t be equal to one song with few stanzas that expressour bhakti.

BT Song 747

BT Song 747 Therefore I sing

When I sing, there is bliss

Therefore I will definitely sing

You redeemed me by giving your abode

That alone is a wonderful thing

Once I sing more and more

My bhakti also increases

Once the bhakti increases

New songs also come

You become the object of my song

You gave the boon to sing about you

When I worship you with songs

You also come with much joy

The beauty of bhakti is

In making garlands

Of new songs

Sing to glorify you.

Though we worship you

With so many other things

Will they be?

Equal to one song?

Though many gather together

And praise you with many words

Without worship you with songs

Can our bhakti remain complete?

Though many commentaries

Were written to explain about bhakti

Will the simplicity in a song

Would they be there in them?

With the language of songs

With the company of bhakti

With the mandali of bhaktas

We have your grace to sing about you

BT Song 748

After settling down in the ashram, today I came to the dhyana mandapam.  When I sit in the swing in the Library facing the banyan tree with green scenery before me, without anyone around me or with me, my spirit get lifted with the atmosphere. Then I entered a kind of trance rejoicing in such a time where my whole being mingles with him.  After enjoying that moment for several minutes, I wrote this song to worship Him.

BT Song 748

BT Song 748 This is the Time

This is the time seeking the Holy feet

A time seeking your face Oh my Lord

There is no time for any other thing

No time to think about other things.

Sitting silently at your feet

Thinking only about your grace in me

Rejoicing only our relationship

This is time to talk with you.

The mind which refuse to be tamed

Will become calm when I seek your feet

Heart which often gets frustrated

Will remain quiet when I sit at your feet

Seeking these kinds of opportunities often

My heart will long for your holy feet

Realizing it when you to come to me

My heart will rejoice sing songs

You gave this life only for this

You gave this joy only for me

Therefore I feel uplifted in you

After this slave will never face any defeat

Singing and glorifying you

O my God singing your praises

I came to your presence seeking your feet

And took refuge at your grace

BT Song  749

As I read the famous story of the Lord not punishing the woman caught in adultery, I meditated about it.  In the original story every one after dropping the stone goes away. But in my reflection, I realized that as our conscience pricks the stone will fall automatically from our hand as it will lose its grip on the stone. Then it will fall only on our toe and hurt it.  By this once we give the punishment for our sin, there is no chance to blame anyone for this punishment’.  As I reflected on it, I wrote this song.  The general Indian worldview about punishment for sin is: we are not punished for our sin, but by our sin.

BT Song 749

BT Song 749 Taking revenge

There is no need for God

To take revenge on us

He never created us

For that.

When our own sin

Is chasing us

There is no need for one

To take revenge on us

Are we not responsible?

For our own mistakes?

Though we understand this

Yet we are not ready to accept it.

We have thousands of

Contradiction among us

Then why should we

Blame God for that?

Surely there is

Punishment for the mistakes

But the question is:

Who is the one who will give it?

Arriving a verdict

For that by our own methods

When we try

To execute it

Silently our own

Conscience will talk to us

It will even ask,

‘Who gave this right to you’?

It will give the stone

On our hand by saying,

‘Let him he, who

Never done any crime throw it first’

As our conscience pricks

The stone

Losing its grip from our hand

Falls on the toe and hurts it.

Once we took

Revenge on us

Then the question that will come is,

‘Who shall be blamed for this’.

BT Song 750

To be honest I don’t know what is that goal that God has set for me?  All these years I am running not even knowing what the goal is and where it is? But I know one thing for sure. He called me to live as His bhakta on this very earth enjoying my mukti through my bhakti.  As I already attained this goal, now I don’t know what is the goal for me to run for and what is the crown that I should receive. So whenever I think of running the race to reach the goal, then I am confused and even get frustrated as I get deviated even in this goal to live as a bhakta of the Lord in this very life.  When I meditated about it, I wrote this song.

BT Song 750

750 The call which you gave

You gave a call for me

For that you gave some talents

Not living accordingly

I get frustrated with so many things.

You called me to run the race

Keeping the goal before me

But leaving the tract

I am troubled by thinking about so many things.

Not going in the right or left

Keep running the tract which you set for me

You asked me to run the race with much patience

To receive that crown.

But I have lost the goal long before

And ran to the right and left many times

In between stopped running many times

Now I have completely lost that tract.

There is no strength to run any more

And the goal is also not visible clearly

I don’t know what I should do further

There is no other than you.

So, often remind my goal

If I go away, then threaten me

Still if I go astray then punish me

Somehow you help me to reach the goal.
