Burden of SHARING

Often we hear that if we share, our burden will be reduced.  There is some truth in it.  But remaining silent is better than sharing. Other than sharing with a professional counselor [thankfully, which is rare in India, but becomes another branch of medicine, only increasing the medical expenses more], in the name of sharing, several times we end up increasing our burden rather than reducing it.  After sharing, we might worry whether what we told personally won’t become a rumour or gossip?  Several times after sharing we would worry which one we shared and which one we forgot.  Because I have seen several people, after sharing again, will call or talk to the person that, ’one more important point I forgot to tell’ and will continue to talk more.  Whereas, if we practice the art of silence, then in the long run the very burden might disappear. Or better write them down.  If you read what you have written after a few days, then you would agree that there is nothing important in it and you will even discard that writing.  This is what I do often.  In the past If I ever wrote a letter sharing my burden [Yes long long ago we used to write letters!], I won’t post it immediately and it will remain with me for a few days, sometimes, even a few weeks.  In the end I destroyed it by not posting.  Similarly, I will write some of them in my diary.  But thankfully now as I destroyed all my written diaries I need not worry anymore about those records, only keeping main events in a digital copy, mostly removing all those issues which disturbed me a lot, particularly in interpersonal relationships.  In case if you don’t have time to write, then record in your mobile and don’t share.  Listen to it after a day or two.  Then you will delete it knowing well that there is nothing to share or better not to share.  As I was thinking about the value of silence and the burden of sharing while I went for my evening, after returning I wrote this song.
