Final Diamond Painting

I felt a sense of relief when I completed the final diamond painting I had. While the finished piece looks beautiful, the process itself was quite monotonous and uninspiring. It felt more like filling in the blanks with suitable words rather than engaging in a creative endeavor.

Or, to put it in context, it’s like forwarding someone’s message from social media. While I do this occasionally, I’m careful not to forward just anything. It’s always better to share something of your own creation or writing rather than simply passing along someone else’s content. Generally, I don’t even open 99% of the forwarded messages I receive. I usually just send a thumbs-up emoji to acknowledge receipt—unless it’s from someone close who sends something genuinely worth reading or watching. I understand that others might do the same with my forwarded messages.  Even when forwarding important videos on significant topics, I make an effort to provide a brief summary of the content. This way, the recipient can decide whether they want to watch it or not.

I much prefer counted cross-stitch, as it presents many challenges, requiring attention and patience. Currently, I’m working on two cross-stitch projects simultaneously—one is a printed cross-stitch of Angkor Wat, and the other is a scene of a village by the lakeside. Both are large, but the latter is particularly challenging, not only because of its size (almost 300 x 214 stitches), but also due to the intricate symbols and closely placed colors. A single moment of inattention could lead to mistakes that require redoing, though fortunately without damaging the fabric.

I’m not sure when I’ll finish both projects. Considering their scale, it may take over a year. However, now that I’ve begun, I’m enjoying the process. When I completed the last diamond painting, though, I decided, “No more.” That said, I still have leftover diamonds, which I might use in the future to create my own designs.
