Happy Diwali

The religions of the world are luminous in their individuality, and they have valuable social and soul making functions.  Surely someday we will quit killing each other over their different strategies. But let us be honest.  I have no hope,  nor do you,  that the Middle East warring (or anywhere else) will stop in this lifetime or in our grandchildren’s. No hope.  But hope is overrated. Who needs it. Let us continue on with our battered guidon, which has no recognizable insignia.  As Whitman advises us in the 1885 preface to: Leaves of Grass:

Argue not concerning God,…..re-examine all you have been told at church or school or in any book,  dismiss whatever insults your soul….

I say that the exclusivity of most of the organized$ religions does insult the soul.

Coleman Barks,  The Essential RUMI,  Introduction to the New Expanded Edition, New York,  HarperCollins, 2004, p. Xvii

Prophecy or pessimism. Let us keep our hope in the Lord  that “all is not lost because something went wrong ” or several things are going wrong around us in this world.  Let this Diwali bring NEW HOPE AND JOY not only to India, but to the entire world as we strongly believe and promote: Vasudevaka Kudumbakam = the entire world is the ONE Family of God.

Happy Diwali

$ It is not only all the Organized religions but foreign policy of the so called Super power that insult the soul and hurt the humanity.  For their local prosperity there should be problem around the world.  They won’t allow any part to remain in peace as it will hurt their economy and prosperity for their citizens as war everywhere means dollar for them by supplying more and more weapons to war zones.  I deliberately choose $ to mark the foot note.  For local PEACE and PROSPERITY create problem around the world is their well known not even subtle Foreign Policy.  But soon they will learn a big lesson but it would be too late for them to repent. This is not a prophesy but the curse that the cry and tears of the victims of their policy will bring on them as Valluvar clearly stated:

His people’s tears of sorrow past endurance, are not they Sharp instruments to wear the monarch’s wealth away—Kural 555

Explanation: Will not the tears, shed by a people who cannot endure the oppression which they suffer (from their king), become a saw to waste away his wealth?
