Kundurus Rice

For a change, I made this Kundurus rice. Almost the same process as making ‘Vangi Bath’ from Karnataka. Instead of traditional Vangi Bath masala, I used my homemade ‘Stuffed Kerala masala’ that I prepare and store.

If you’re too busy scrolling social media to make your own masala, then go ahead and buy the ready Vangibath masala marketed by international companies like Amazon [ founded by Jeff Bezos] to earn huge profits [actually looting us]. They can use that money to throw lavish weddings in foreign lands, disregarding local resistance and leaving the local community to clean up the mess. The cleanup costs are not just financial but also environmental, and the revenue from tourism barely covers it. By supporting local and homemade masalas, you’re not only getting better taste but also contributing to your community.

I steamed the kundurus in the same water I saved after soaking pulses to make sprouts. Then I used that nutritious water to cook the rice. Unlike traditional Vangi Bath, where brinjal is deep-fried, I squashed the steamed kundurus, fried them with less oil, and added my Stuffed Kerala masala. The result was delicious Kundurus rice.

My masala consists of grated coconut, jeera, sompu, kala jeera, ajwain, dhaniya, haldi, tangerine, chana dal, dry chili, curry leaves, ginger, and hing. You can add garlic if you like. I prepare this masala in bulk and store it for up to a year.”

Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder, recently got married to Lauren Sánchez in a lavish ceremony in Venice, Italy. The wedding took place from June 24 to 26, 2025, on the private island of San Giorgio Maggiore, with approximately 200 A-list guests attending. The event was marked by luxury, with estimated costs ranging between $9.5 million and $11 million, and featured extravagant parties, dinners, and celebrity guests like Kim Kardashian and Bill Gates.

However, the wedding wasn’t without controversy, as locals protested the event, citing concerns over the impact of mass tourism and the commodification of their city. Venice has long struggled with these issues, and many residents felt the wedding symbolized a further shift toward gentrification and loss of cultural identity ¹ ² ³.

The protests included banners declaring “No Space for the Rich” and “We’re Not a Playground for the Rich,” highlighting the tension between the city’s desire to preserve its heritage and the influx of wealthy tourists ³.
