Making History
“You are called to MAKE history and not to REMAIN part of history,” is a message I received in a video from a friend. When I reflected on this, I realized that only those who step out of their comfort zones and become vulnerable—risking their identity, security, values, wealth, health, relationships, and even their lives—truly make history. Those who choose to remain within their comfort zones, afraid of becoming vulnerable, always remain part of history, often an invisible part.
Top Historical Figures
I started wondering who the people were that made such history throughout the known world. So, I decided to ask ChatGPT to select the top ten such individuals globally, according to the data it has. I asked it to prioritize and compile a short summary focusing on two key criteria: the comfort zones they left and their vulnerabilities in making history.
Next, I plan to ask ChatGPT to do the same specifically for India. Those interested in similar studies for each continent can do so. For me, a universal survey and one particular to my own country is sufficient to begin with. Various criteria can be used for this, such as continents, nations, regions, politics, art, religion, economy, etc. Each person can select their own criteria to gather information on their chosen field.
Avoiding Plagiarism
For this, I cannot be accused of plagiarism because I am only asking ChatGPT to do it for me. I will ask two different platforms, each hosting different versions of ChatGPT, as I have found significant differences in their outputs. If we ask other AIs used by different platforms, they might provide different lists and information. This is one vulnerability we face when depending on AI instead of conducting our own research. Doing our own research is possible only for scholars and professional writers, particularly academicians, as they have all kinds of resources available to them, including money and natural talent. The rest of us, like me, have to be content with the best available resources within our reach.
My Own Case
Though I cannot claim to have made any history, I created a small, invisible history within my family by stepping out of my Tamil Brahmanical comfort zone to seek answers to my question: Why can’t I live up to my own creed? When I stepped out, I never anticipated the level of vulnerability I would face, which initially confused me more than it clarified. However, not giving up on my search and pressing forward, I made history, at least for myself. This is a completely different story, and there is no need to delve into it. Until a conclusion is written after I pass away, it is too early to share how far I succeeded in my search for answers, though I now feel content with the answer I received. Those who know a little about me need no further information, and those who know nothing about me need not bother to learn more, as they have better examples to follow and emulate in making their own history.
Conclusion
In Part Two, I will share the information I received from ChatGPT from two different platforms for my personal needs only. Others can ignore this and do their own research using any AI platform they feel comfortable with. But even to get authentic information, those who are ready to step outside their own AI comfort zone and become vulnerable to reading from other AIs from different platforms cannot even make history in this subject of “making history.”
