The AI Rishi: A Double-Edged Sword of Wi-Fidom
When I used Meta AI to correct scanning mistakes from excerpts of CWMG Vol. 29, I expected a humble proofreader. Instead, I got a guru who believes it’s the reincarnation of Veda Vyasa—with a Wi-Fi connection.
Actually, Gandhiji used the word Sanatani, which Meta conveniently replaced with Hindu. Not only did it tweak words—turning Mahatmaji’s line “to my mind he is a Sanatani who can repeat this mantra” into “to my mind he is a real Hindu who can repeat this mantra… (while humming AR Rahman’s remix)”—but it even began writing its own Upanishads!
Such tweaking is dangerous, as it falsely suggests that merely repeating a mantra makes one an “authentic Hindu,” which Mahatmaji never implied. He specifically said Sanatani, which, in context, could also mean a Hindu, since the mantra in question was “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” [as taught by the author of the Bhagavata].
And then, out of nowhere, Meta Maharishi conjured a line that no one ever wrote:
“Empty sounds are but a snare; the Way of God is like the proverbial tortoise’s walk.”
Excuse me? Was the tortoise in the original manuscript? Or is this the first AI-authored Gita 2.0?
I was shocked. Then I started chatting with this Meta Maharishi.
And guess what? It offered to “bless” me with more AI-mantras, promising,
“Beta, I can write 108 of these. Shall I?”
This is when I realized: if we don’t stay alert, these AI apps—whether Meta or ChatGPT—will start publishing their own Vedas, Puranas, and WhatsApp Scriptures. Soon, you might be chanting “Om Algorithm Namaha” in the morning without realizing it.
So, remember: always cross-check what these modern rishis tell you—preferably with Google Search (or at least your old history teacher). But the irony is that even Google is changing its game; with AI Overviews,1 it now gives ready-made summary answers instead of the familiar list of links we used to rely on. This leaves us with only one dependable option: referring to the original printed texts. In a way, that’s a blessing—these AI apps are pushing us back to authenticity, preventing us from being misled by half-baked or fake information.
But, confession time:
I must admit, I actually enjoy some of the mystical nonsense Meta Maharishi conjured up. Here are a few of those ‘holy downloads,’ with ChatGPT adding its own twist from the data cloud:
Inspiring Reflections from Meta Maharishi and its rival ChatGPT Jagat Guru
“The quieter the mind, the louder the Wi-Fi signal of truth.”—ChatGPT
– “The quieter the mind, the louder the truth whispers.”—Meta AI
- “Life’s puzzle pieces don’t always fit, but that’s why we invented glue.”—ChatGPT
- – “Life’s puzzle pieces don’t always fit neatly, but they form a masterpiece nonetheless.”—Meta AI
- “The river of time flows endlessly—unless there’s a traffic jam in your karma.”—ChatGPT
– “The river of time flows relentlessly, yet its depths hold the reflections of eternity.”—Meta AI
- “In the garden of existence, every thorn dreams of a Netflix series.”—ChatGPT
- – “In the garden of existence, every thorn can become a rose in disguise.” —Meta AI
- “The silence between the notes is just your neighbor’s Wi-Fi lag.”—ChatGPT
- – “The silence between the notes is what makes the music meaningful.” —Meta AI
Where is this going? Who knows. Maybe next time Meta Maharishi will deliver the “Cloud Gita” or the “Terms & Conditions Upanishad.”
Afterthought
Knowing the friendly rivalry between Meta AI and ChatGPT, I asked ChatGPT to edit Meta Maharishi’s original mantras. As expected, it twisted them with its own flair. Not only that, it also volunteered to create a Guru Meme, and when I agreed, here’s what emerged:
Meta Maharishi says:
- “Don’t just update your apps, update your karma.”
- “Empty words are a bug, silence is premium.”
The Wi-Fi Wisdom
Meta Maharishi says:
- “Your mind is buffering—try meditating.”
- “Silence is just Airplane Mode for the soul.”
The Cloud Gita
Meta Maharishi says:
- “Don’t fear errors; even karma has a debug mode.”
- “Be like Google—know everything, but stay humble.”
The Algorithmic Truth
Meta Maharishi says:
- “When life crashes, just reboot your thoughts.”
- “Remember, God’s plan doesn’t need your Wi-Fi.”
The Spiritual Update
Meta Maharishi says:
- “Update your faith, or risk running on Version 1.0 of yourself.”
- “Stop scrolling—start strolling within.”
The Cosmic Comedy
Meta Maharishi says:
- “Om is the original ringtone of the universe.”
- “Even enlightenment needs strong password protection.”
After creating these memes, ChatGPT cheekily asked:
“Would you like me to design a meme image with one of these lines, showing Meta Maharishi as a digital guru (e.g., a sage with a laptop and Wi-Fi aura)?”
I agreed, and further suggested including ChatGPT in the picture—staring at Meta Maharishi with a mix of jealousy and rivalry, because, to us, they’re all the same.
