Obligation of God

After writing the previous song [BT Song 1127], as it was going to be 6:00 AM, I was ready to get up to go to the kitchen to prepare coffee for my mother and tea for me. At that time, I told the Lord while getting up from the chair the first line of this song: “வான்னா வரணும், தான்னா தரணும்” [“If I say ‘come,’ you should come; if I say ‘give,’ you should give”]. Then, as the inspiration came, I wrote the first six stanzas. Then, as it was getting late, I went to the kitchen to make coffee for my mother and was busy with other kitchen work. But when I was preparing tea for myself, I continued to reflect on the song and told the Lord, “Asking and knocking is for those who seek your grace for the first time. As I have already become a devotee, I don’t need to do that. Your duty is to take care of me, and my duty is to worship you. Other than this, we don’t need any other formalities.” Then, as the inspiration came, after serving coffee to my mother, with my tea, I quickly returned and took the note and wrote the rest of the song [ BT Song 1128]. I told the Lord He cannot treat me as the Good Samaritan has done. Either He has to come till the end or mind His own business. But before doing that, He has to answer my question: “What other works does He have other than taking care of me?” As He has no answer for this, there is no other option for Him but to come when I call and give when I ask.

Tulsidas [in his Ramcharitmanas] rightly said that Rama gave mukti to all but bhakti to very few. Because God knows how difficult it is to manage those few devotees like me who always demand something from Him. Those who receive mukti don’t need anything further. But a devotee has lots of expectations from God, and God has lots of obligations to him, as there are only a few devotees to worship Him but many to receive mukti and settle with it—not disturbing God further. Which one do you need? Bhakti or Mukti?

This obligation of God also includes how he has to discipline us not spoiling by pampering too much.  Result is the song 1130

Not only parents spoil their children by giving more than what they require or demand to avoid their responsibility of disciplining them, but several times God also does the same thing with a devotee. Sometimes parents give a lot of concessions to their children, which finally become a burden only to them. And God also should know the same as the needs of a devotee are finally His responsibility. Whether He gives or denies, as we cannot do anything, better He should keep an eye on what He gives to me.
