Robo Gurus?
There is a warning by the experts that soon AI [Artificial Intelligence] is going to deprive the job of so many people in the IT sector and many leading companies have already started to do that. But when I went to the local Ram Temple, as per the invitation of our village head to participate in the special havan and puja that were arranged to join with the Nation to celebrate the inauguration of the temple at Ayodhya. When the call for the time for aarati came I went inside the temple along with others. When the arati was about to begin some devotees began to ring the bells which were hanging from the ceiling. But suddenly there came the beating of the drum and bells from the corner of the temple and when I turned that side to see who is doing it, I was shocked to see that one electric instrument is doing both beating the drum and ringing the bell simultaneously during the entire time of arati. When the priest signalled to stop one person switch ed off it.
Then I thought that I won’t be surprised that not only many priests would be deprived of their job but God also deprived to receive the special ‘karseva’ [personal seva using hand] from his bhakta and he should be merely content and learnt to live with all kinds of electric and electronic devices to do all kinds of rituals for him. Already I saw a Robo performing arati. But I strongly feel that it won’t go to the extent of sending robots as devotees to have darshan of god as people would be very busy with their social media and gadgets in their homes not disappointing God also to live alone like so many old people. Who knows in the long run gurus and acharyas and even sannyasis would be replaced by Robots guiding people in their religious life—or operating even the Robo devotees in future. But this would be good news to some Religions, particularly the Catholic Church as less and less youths are committing for religious vocation as [celibate] Priests and Nuns.
