Sadhana by Tagore: Book Review

Yet to be edited properly

Rabindranath Tagore, Sadhana: The Realisation of Life, Macmillan And Co;, London, Indian edition, 1930,

Tagore was not only a great poet but he was also a thinker, philosopher, artist and great writer.  Though he is known worldwide because of his poems, particularly that of Gitanjali, to know and understand him we should also read his many writings.  Particularly as a lover of nature, his meditations as Sadhana will help a person sore high in her spirit to transcend her limitations that come in every form in life.  Though one can read and enjoy them irrespective of her outward circumstances I feel fortunate to read and meditate on it living in the ashram surrounded by nature, more than that silence.    But if I fail to share with others, then this joy that I found in reading his Sadhana [and all other writings] will remain an act of selfishness but only in sharing that  joy can be multiplied.  The real joy in life is only in giving not keeping or possessing anything only for our own need and enjoyment.  Though many won’t have time to read fragments that I am sharing I share with the hope that those who will read them will agree with me and celebrate that joy with me.  As this book is also available in Internet, those who want to read the entire book can download the electronic copy and read.  And this selected fragments are for those who are too busy in their life but still longing to sore high in the sky to break the their cage and go out to find out their final freedom in the soul.

Tagore is not only a Great Poet but also a true Sadhaka meditating on certain deep subjects.  Unless one sits quietly with calm spirit she cannot understand what Tagore says about the Free Will of human. But if one meditates each line of this short meditation she will be immensely blessed by it.
