Secular Song 426
Finally, Nangil Sambath, who migrated from one political party to another declared that he is leaving politics and going to spend the rest of his time in his favorite life as a speaker. Indeed he is a great (Tamil) orator. And when he gave an interview, he said that so far almost every political party, in which he toiled used him when it served their purpose and then threw him away. At the end of the interview, he said that actually he became tired of such betrayal and became dejected. But he convincingly forgot that he too used all these parties when they served his interest and need. Now playing a victim card, naturally he gives various reasons for it. As no one ever lived above her own creed, there is a point of playing only a victim card while doing the same for others.
NB. Though Sambath said that he said that he left politics, after a few months, as per his habit now began to come closer to another party which he strongly opposed in the past. This shows that we should never trust any promise made by the politicians, as they put different masks in different times.
Secular Song 426

Secular Song 426 Gratitude
As long as we remain useful
Many will come to us
And they will praise us
As we are useful to them
Once their need is
Finished
They won’t think us
Even for a fraction of a second
This is not a
New thing in this world
And not that
It never happened before
We too are not
An exception to this
If that happen to us
Nothing new in it
Remaining ungrateful
Is a common nature
When others do it
We blame them for it
When we do the same
We deny it
And we have many
Excuses for that also.
There is no point
In giving advice here
There is no place
For it in that situation
Because
All know about it
As we all do it
There is no escape from it

Secular Song 427

Secular Song 427 To laugh or lament
I deeply
Thought about it
I often asked
So many questions
I try to
Understand about me
Finally, I am frustrated
As I am confused.
On the one side
The mind asks me to keep away
Then it forces me
To join again
But the buddhi laments (by saying)
‘Enough is enough’
And it says that
There is nothing new (in all these activities)
Mind seeks a kind of bliss
In silence
And it also
Prompts me to keep quiet
Once I experienced
The bliss of silence
The mind refuses
To wake up again
I don’t know
Why this struggle
When the deliverance will come
I don’t know
When there is struggle between
Heart and buddhi (intellect)
I don’t know whether to
Laugh or weep

Secular Song 428
I know that people become very busy with so many things and problems to handle simultaneously as he is running a big business also. However, because of their various responsibilities and commitments many people in modern times remain too busy to keep in touch with each other. Of course, they use social media to keep in touch with each other. But visiting and spending time together now become a history in many homes.
The same is the case with my grandsons (my brother’s grandsons through his daughter). Though they came to visit us after nearly forty years in 2017 August, after that in spite of my repeated efforts to keep in touch they were not reciprocated. Of course they are very busy with their work and studies. But as they lack interest to nurture the relationship further, however we try, it remains one-way traffic.
In the past we used to visit our relatives and even friends’ homes and stayed several weeks. But now visiting a few hours has become a luxury for the guest and a burden for the host. There is no alternative but to cope with this reality in modern life.
Secular Song 428

Secular Song 428 Time should ripe.
Even if come close
They go away
Though we show our affection
They refuse to accept it
Even if we go to have fellowship
They keep away from us
They are our relatives
But they stand away
As we don’t know
About their situation
We cannot
Understand about them
Even if try to
Understand about it
They don’t want to
Share with us
On the one side
Affection pushes us (towards them)
On the other hand
Their nature keeps us away (from them)
There alone patience
Has to do its work
Till they come on their own
It asks us to wait
When we have relationship
But there is no friendship in it
Unable to have fellowship
At the same time
Unable to forsake them
The only option left before us
Is to wait patiently
Till the time to ripe for that

Secular Song 429
When I am frustrated because of old age related issues when the younger generation refuses to cooperate with me, then I tell them that we have every right to get frustrated as we become old and they cannot do it because of their age.. ‘Don’t compare 67 with 27’, I used to rebuke him. But when my mother does the same, I keep quiet knowing that I cannot compare her 93 with my 67. And the one good lesson that I learn to overcome such frustration is to cooperate with others who try to understand and help us. That is the only means available with every old person to spend the rest of the old age relatively with some peace.
Secular Song 429

Secular Song 429 Easily we can overcome
Some kind of tiredness has come
Along with body mind also get depressed
‘What kind of life is this’ it asks
‘And how long’ it enquires
It knows that there is no alternative to this
And it tries to find an alternative
It looks around
And become depressed
Old age is indeed a burden
It is a bed of thorns
But there is no point of lamenting about it
And there is no escape from it
Still there is a benefit in it
We have right to get frustrated
No one will ask why
And they won’t become upset with us
They will try to understand us
And will try to help at their best
They will carry by encouraging us
And will take us along with them
So, giving up depression and frustration
And co-operating with others
If we live, we can spend rest of life
And can easily overcome frustration
Mathigiri, 26-3-18, 2.30௦ p.m.
Secular Song 430
Though I tease others that we old age people have so many rights—morally, socially, legally etc. etc., to become impatient and get upset easily when things don’t go as per our expectation, yet I know patience is the only option left with us to navigate the rest of our life. When our own body and mind does not cooperate with us, we accept it as part of the old age scenario. But conveniently we forgot that the same is the case with our expectation from others.
Secular Song 430
Secular Song 430 We need patience
Old age requires
More patience
We should
Understand this
There is no place
Here for bragging
Which we had
When we were young
First the body will
Suppress us
Then the relatives will
Keep us away
Along with heart
Mind also get diminished
The brain also will
Laugh at us
As the pulse and nerves
Get diminished
The trembling will come
On its own
Along with teeth
The speech also gone
All our talking will
Become mere babbling
Once our own body
Deceives us
What to talk
About others
Accepting it
Keeping patience
We should live
Keeping quiet
